Crosshairs Originally Looked Like Michael Bay in Transformers 4? 1 of the biggest complaints against Transformers 4 was the character designs. Fans of the original Alien like aesthetics didn't like how they were changed to look more like humans. It was a design choice that didn't quite grow on the fandom. But fans should consider themselves lucky that we got this particular design for Crosshairs. Because apparently it could've been far worse if they concept artists with his originally intended design. Michael Bay has received a lot of backlash for most of his creative input in the Transformers movies. Funny enough the original concept art for Crosshairs depicts him with facial features very similar to Michael Bay's. His arrogant personality further suggests the posibility of having been originally concieved as a self-insert character of sorts. But this concept was later dropped. Which prevented Crosshairs from being the most hated.

The only defense I can come up with is that actors are expensive, so if they were to use facial capture to base off the models, using people already involve would be cheaper.
I mean, this one is just aesthetic, so meh, barely an issue in my book.

Tbf that’s more like love for Crosshair, because it shows the fans liked his coat so much in the films(because it really was kind of sick) that it was really disappointing that they fumbled it so bad in toy form.
I literally bought it because it was the cheapest crosshairs I could find. While I like most of the figure that coat really needed work.

That's just another reminder that the AOE Autobots weren't really made with transforming in mind. Hence why it has the least onscreen transformation sequence in all of the Transformers movies.

Yup, and he reminded me of an Autobot design from G1 season 3.
Crosshair is probably my fav out of the new autobots. His design is really unique and the coat suits him so well as well as cool chevrolet corvette c7 mode

Yeah, like I loved crosshairs design in the movie but I will admit that even though he was a prick for 90% of his screen time he was pretty cool and I enjoyed seeing him

@@hob_channel, no. Transformers 1 to 3 were peak design. Moreover, the toys were cooler, too. I dropped Michael Bay's Transformers after Age of Extinction, and because of that, their toys from the movie suck. They didn't have any electronically sounding Leader Class Transformers like they used to have when TF Age of Extinction merchandise was released. Face it, the first 3 movies had better peak design and much better, cooler toys while the 4th one was quite (mostly) inferior compared to the previous movies because I liked only a few characters like Drift and Crosshairs. If you think that way, I'm terribly sorry for you.
@@tvoovm7254transformers 4 had amazing set of toys. Not as good as tf2’s or tf3’s leader, voyager, and defender class toys, but still hold their own.
@@tvoovm7254 Oh man the toys from TF 1-3 were perfect. They literally got better from each movie. The Leader class toys were especially amazing. My favorite is Leader Optimus from ROTF.

That…just looks cursed given that it’s bay’s face. Maybe it could be coincidence, but it’s likely that was the intent to make crosshairs have bay’s face.

Ya know, I like the design they went with for Crosshairs, but I can see why Michael Bay would want to put "himself" in the film. Whenever a creative person makes something they are literally putting themselves into it - their time, imagination, and energy. Alfred Hithcock put himself in his films, and M. Night Shyamalan does this now. There must have been something about Crosshairs that resonated with Mr. Bay. 🤔
This is a fantastically positive outlook. I don't really mind it either way, just as long as John DiMaggio still voiced him.

Though I'm not sure how much he activity put himself into the movies given he went on record saying he didn't care much for transformers I think it was more a paycheck
before aoe existed crosshairs appeared in the 2007 toyline looking like energon strongarm, crosshairs was gonna have a scout class toy looking like rotf rollbar's scout class toy as part of the 2010 toyline but got cancelled, crosshairs also appeared in the dotm toyline
Mostly just the name getting reused for multiple different figures
I don’t usually vibe with the humanoid faces, even in g1, but I fw drifts design heavy. And hound is a very fun design too.

Crosshairs and Hound were fun caricatures for me.
I mean, a self insert isn't automatically bad, it's only a problem when it's handled badly - and tbf it definitely would've been in this case lol

The Transformers had some great designs in the Age of Extinction. What do people don't like? In Dark of the Moon, some Autobots also had humanoid designs
I think the last two bayverse movies was Bay trying to end the franchise since hasbro wouldn’t stop
If I'm not mistaken that's exactly what it was. He told the story he wanted to tell with the first three films but essentially had a bomb strapped to him by Paramount and told to make them more money. The original trilogy, love them or hate them, have a very distinct vibe to them. AoE and TLK just feel like a man desperately trying to do anything but work on these movies.

I mean, they dawned more human looks the longer they lived among humans, it makes sense.
That's why a lot of fans prefer the looks of G1 faces coz they do convincingly look like badass alien robots than the bayverse's latter films
I like how the “fan” hate the design for being able to hide in plain sight and demanding the one from the cartoon, which is, you know, pretty much defeat the purpose of the motto “Robot In Disguise”

Fans hate the designs for being too robotic…then they hate the designs for looking too human, despite in G1 many bots looking like a man cosplaying as a metal dude, some of them didn’t even have vehicle mode parts like the AOE designs. Most of them have very human faces.

Oh gosh, glad they changed the face. I'm continuing with my unpopular opinions saying i like the AoE designs but that concept srt is already ugly AF. Imagining it being CGI rendered, yikes. At least they didn't butcher making OP's face look like Cullen's.
I also like AoE. The only things that hold it back for me are the Transformium and the villains motivation (my family died while you were trying to save us, so I hate you and your kind now, but also I'm working with one of your species).
Regardless of everything, Hound has the *BEST* design. Everything about that character is perfect.

The original alien looks between Transformers 1-3 was fantastic. It truly captured the alieness that the franchise needed. If they can replicated this while utilizing the G1 aesthetics so we can easily recognize each Transformer, that would be great.

Despite the fact that people say that Crosshairs would be hard to look at, I ACTUALLY would love for it to be like it, since Crosshairs throughout both movies was an asshole through and through. Never once has there been a seed of "redemption" of him, or possibility that he just acts like asshole, but is kind in the end.

I completely agree about character designs in tf4 and 5 but I think Hound is an exception as with all his guns and bulk you could put him in the earlier movies and I don't think he would be out of place tbh
