I’m gonna be honest, you have very good points in this video but you also gotta realize that roblox isn’t the same that it was years ago, times have changed, over a decade has passed. Classic avatars are great and there’s still people that like it, and at least more people have found their own styles and isn’t all just copy and pastes. Yes allowing everyone to make ugc is a shitty idea with degenerate avatars and copyright, but on the bright side there was still some good avatar items that have come from this update.
I literally advocate for a natural evolution of the Roblox artstyle and reccomend UGC creators who make that kind of content. I'm not a Classic Style or Old Roblox dickrider, I want good items and good Roblox, not shitty items and shitty Roblox. The state of Roblox right now is objectively terrible and it's not just nostalgia.
Little rant but, It's a little grating to see majority of the community forget that there are literal children, children with very influential minds who take inspiration from anything that appeals to their eyes and copies that same thing, while at the same time going off on the same kids who took influence on the people they saw and screaming at them. I'm not proud to be a Roblox player as of right now with what's going on in the catalog and how Roblox moderation takes little to none responsibility for the items, I really do hope this doesn't end up a fucking dumpster fire. unpopular opinion, i love the public ugc cuz there's just so much more customizability now and u can make funner avatars i just hate the hyper realistic make up faces, the headless avatars and all the overly sexualised avatars too. i think clinging onto nostalgia and old roblox was lost ages ago especially after we started getting more realistic or higher quality (visually) games in roblox like doors, pressure, frontlines, etc. sure its sad to see the old way of roblox get lost to time but like all things it just evolves into smth new. altho i def agree w the copyright thing theres no way that ppl copy-pasting pre existing assets from other games into roblox for profit is legal or moral - that def needs to get checked out at sm point

Alright. Here’s my take on your take about Roblox art style, my thesis is that there is no art style on Roblox, to say that Roblox has an art style is to say that unreal engine or unity has an art style, or that RUclips has an art style, no platform has an art style, they have trends, and these trends when they blow up and people start universally doing them on the platform that is when they become what you think of as an “art style” when in reality, it is not, it is just a long term trend, it will eventually die out and be replaced. Now this is where my take gets controversial especially since talking about old Roblox can push people’s buttons, I believe that trends need to die in order for people to enjoy a platform, if trends don’t die then people will eventually get tired and nobody would want to use that platform, this is why I believe that nobody would want to play old Roblox. Old Roblox especially the 30fps era was bad, objectively bad compared to even now, my reasoning for this is because of the limits of Roblox, games that push the envelope especially on Roblox’s graphics and gameplay wouldn’t exist, one of my favorite games Frontlines wouldn’t exist because not only would it have been impossible to make but it also doesn’t fit with what you think is the Roblox art style, and that leads me to the next point, whwt you actually believe is the Roblox “art style” and why it kinda sucks, I can understand not liking the artistic trend that the Roblox community is taking up but what you have to understand is to essentially reset everything back to the era’s you enjoy would also reset years of Roblox graphical technology, because that technology doesn’t fit the art style, volumetric lighting, high res mesh textures, skinned meshes, proper reflections, and I’m sure plenty more that I can’t name off the top of my head, to literally creatively limit everything to one “art style” because you don’t like the current one on a platform is really a bad idea imagine if RUclips only allowed Minecraft speed runs or if unity only allowed 2d platformers on their game engine, that would probably kill of both platforms since there’s plenty of good content that doesn’t match that style overall I think the “art style” take is just a reacting to an extreme with an extreme, limiting the creative ability of users on a platform for literally no reason since platforms don’t have art styles to begin with unless explicitly stated in their terms of use.
I completely agree and feel the clarification of what exactly the "roblox art style is" might've been a little foggy, but technically impressive games absolutely have a place on the platform, even games that use no roblox assets at all have a place on the platform, but in this new "metaverse" era that platform itself, what I believe "Roblox" refers to, is having the art style of all the games on it bleed into it through the metaverse. I believe the "old roblox" art style isn't characterized by low polygon count or studs or anything like that, but by color and creativity. The enemy isn't games that don't "look like roblox," but Roblox as a platforms complete loss of identity in an attempt to become something it never was, just a game engine.
that is to say graphical fidelity isn't an issue. if Roblox today started to moderate the catalogue, release new, high-res versions of classics hats like visors and shit and added color back to the website and stopped insisting to itself it doesnt exist, I would be completely satisfied.

As someone who started playing Roblox in 2014, I don't really like the classic Roblox look personally, but I respect your views and opinions. Also, I agree, there is a lot of slop in UGC.
I previously commented here at this channel, And honestly, this guy has the same concerns about ROBLOX as i do. Keep posting man. And, for the love of GOD, please come out after those slop games on the platform that only exist to make money from children via play time and premium payouts.
I'm a 2015 player and to be honest, I don't care about Roblox's art style anymore. They'd already dragged it to the freeway and threw it under an 18-wheeler before UGC came out, and I'm indifferent to the classic styles. While UGC slop is absolutely an issue that would ideally be dealt with, there's some amazing stuff once you wade through all the garbage. It's allowed me to develop my own style of avatars where I can be creative in ways I never could have dreamed of before UGC was a thing. And for the love of god, please tell me you were exaggerating when you said that anyone who wears those "goober" faces and the furry heads are degenerates. There is undoubtedly bad apples who use them, this isn't a case where the rest of the bunch goes rotten. They're harmless on their own.

I get that, but I care about Roblox and its aesthetic integrity. There is Emo and Anime hair that Roblox has uploaded themselves that fit within the art style, so UGC creators really have no excuse for making these repetitive "Messy Hairs."

Eh imo as long as its not like blatantly nsfw or inappropriate its not too bad I find the anime ugc items to be pretty cool, even if they're making money off of an IP they don't own; I think its neat that I can wear outfits from shows/games/movies/etc that I enjoy And the custom ugc hairs aren't too bad, even if they cover most of your face lol
You can reference anime/media you enjoy without breaking the artstyle. It takes a lot more effort to do that, but the items that successfully do so are really great. I just think it's lame to become complacent and settle for less.

Sure some people make items from anime n stuff which is properties they don't own, but there are plenty of people who make ugc clothes or hairs that they put a lot of effort into that look great, I see no reason why they can't put it on the catalog for people to purchase. Is it not a public platform that anyone can upload to? I feel like proper moderation would be nice. Although there is a cesspool of terrible UGC items and brainrot, there are genuinely good UGC's made by people who genuinely are passionate about content creation. This group called "Retro Reworks" has some nice UGC items that add a fun twist to the classics.
It’s only a ticking bomb before public UGC goes up in flames after a lawsuit just like how the audio went. Might suck for a lot of people, but it be something as it would force people to go back to old Roblox style.

public ugc was easily the worst decision roblox has made. minus the audio wipe but the avatar thing is just so much more severe as people don't even hide it. you can find direct copies of limited items on ugc as well as other things I shouldn't need to mention.
Ever since UGC in general people’s avatars have become sore same-ish. Limitations breeds creativity and it doesn’t help when half the accessories (especially hairs) are just the same bs.

honnestly for me hair were allways just boring, you are pretty much allways better to pair some hair with a hat. or not have hair at all just get some hat really. if you want to have hair then experiment with them, at the end of the day people will pretty much not talk about your avatar unless it has ears and a tail. Because you are going to see some children who just have a pain in the a** about them.

Roblox is a big platform, and where you live impacts what players you encounter. I've gotten comments like these a lot and it seems like most people just don't understand how huge Roblox actually is. It's not the small community of like a couple thousand people it used to be. You won't always see the things I talk about reflected in your own experience with the game just because of how huge it is now. Also I've seen a lot of these people in 17+ games, so if you don't have access to these games than you're not really gonna see them as often.

I enjoyed it a lot, and I agree with your opinion, ROBLOX's artstyle has been completely ruined due to it's poor decision making and public UGC deviating from the style it once had, I think it's a matter of time that ROBLOX faces a lawsuit from some of the items posted on the website or even a class-action lawsuit from multiple companies in the future. Roblox used to be the lamest thing ever now it’s somewhat more fun with the more customizable avatars and diverse games. Although it’s still boring .. Atleast I get to customize myself as a cool character compared to the lame items we got back in the day. Ugc is pretty nice (apart from the sexual items.)

Not that there's anything wrong with western furry art style I just like how cute Kemono's look. *Edit: As for Furry Items on Roblox, UGC is the only good option. i was tryna find some good hair for my roblox character and it took me like 30 whole minutes to find something that looked slightly good out of the thousands of just random slop items with 50 different versions of it that are all the same. public ugc was such a bad idea because just anyone can upload anything and roblox doesnt even care about the quality of the items

Karkelkane make great faces. The Whatever head is brilliant, it's on every outfit I own. Personally I like UGC military objects apart from anything Russian and WWII Germany and I think that's pretty obvious why. Unfortunately, some items are also copied, such as Poptart Development's Boonie Hat Camo, which is a total copy of Foxtrot Arms' CAF Boonie Hat. People are stealing from other content creators and we can't do nothing because we're stuck with a stupid bot as moderator.
There are some really cool custom bacon hairs on the Catalog that I should have shouted out. Like one guy gave it a taper and ponytail which look really good.
Over half of the video is just complaining about “these items ugly, I don’t want to keep seeing them,” Everyone buys the items for a *reason*, clearly. Just because YOU don’t like those items doesn’t mean that other people don’t. If you can’t go into an experience without seeing one of those avatars or items, it’s because PEOPLE LIKE THEM. The "Best" thing doesn't always float to the top. Look at Fortnite, they ruined their art style because more people would buy collab skins than anything else, and now almost every skin is a collab and people are leaving in droves and only returning for "OG/Classic" modes like reload. Even a free market needs regulation.

I literally advocate for a natural evolution of the Roblox artstyle and reccomend UGC creators who make that kind of content.
I'm not a Classic Style or Old Roblox dickrider, I want good items and good Roblox, not shitty items and shitty Roblox. The state of Roblox right now is objectively terrible and it's not just nostalgia.
Little rant but, It's a little grating to see majority of the community forget that there are literal children, children with very influential minds who take inspiration from anything that appeals to their eyes and copies that same thing, while at the same time going off on the same kids who took influence on the people they saw and screaming at them. I'm not proud to be a Roblox player as of right now with what's going on in the catalog and how Roblox moderation takes little to none responsibility for the items, I really do hope this doesn't end up a fucking dumpster fire. I deadass saw one of those fucking text shirts, one with like 'A woman's place is behind the gun' or some other fucking perverted shit and underwear. Underwear.. by the ankles. Why????? it's like half the community has forgotten there are children who are just as excited to have a childhood built off the Roblox, just like those same current players were when they were younger. I fucking hate public UGC, worst thing to ever happen for Roblox.

i just hate the hyper realistic make up faces, the headless avatars and all the overly sexualised avatars too. i think clinging onto nostalgia and old roblox was lost ages ago especially after we started getting more realistic or higher quality (visually) games in roblox like doors, pressure, frontlines, etc.

Alright. Here’s my take on your take about Roblox art style, my thesis is that there is no art style on Roblox, to say that Roblox has an art style is to say that unreal engine or unity has an art style, or that RUclips has an art style, no platform has an art style, they have trends, and these trends when they blow up and people start universally doing them on the platform that is when they become what you think of as an “art style” when in reality, it is not, it is just a long term trend, it will eventually die out and be replaced. Now this is where my take gets controversial especially since talking about old Roblox can push people’s buttons, I believe that trends need to die in order for people to enjoy a platform, if trends don’t die then people will eventually get tired and nobody would want to use that platform, this is why I believe that nobody would want to play old Roblox. Old Roblox especially the 30fps era was bad, objectively bad compared to even now, my reasoning for this is because of the limits of Roblox, games that push the envelope especially on Roblox’s graphics and gameplay wouldn’t exist, one of my favorite games Frontlines wouldn’t exist because not only would it have been impossible to make but it also doesn’t fit with what you think is the Roblox art style, and that leads me to the next point, whwt you actually believe is the Roblox “art style” and why it kinda sucks, I can understand not liking the artistic trend that the Roblox community is taking up but what you have to understand is to essentially reset everything back to the era’s you enjoy would also reset years of Roblox graphical technology, because that technology doesn’t fit the art style, volumetric lighting, high res mesh textures, skinned meshes, proper reflections, and I’m sure plenty more that I can’t name off the top of my head, to literally creatively limit everything to one “art style” because you don’t like the current one on a platform is really a bad idea imagine if RUclips only allowed Minecraft speed runs or if unity only allowed 2d platformers on their game engine, that would probably kill of both platforms since there’s plenty of good content that doesn’t match that style overall I think the “art style” take is just a reacting to an extreme with an extreme, limiting the creative ability of users on a platform for literally no reason since platforms don’t have art styles to begin with unless explicitly stated in their terms of use.

I completely agree and feel the clarification of what exactly the "roblox art style is" might've been a little foggy, but technically impressive games absolutely have a place on the platform, even games that use no roblox assets at all have a place on the platform, but in this new "metaverse" era that platform itself, what I believe "Roblox" refers to, is having the art style of all the games on it bleed into it through the metaverse. I believe the "old roblox" art style isn't characterized by low polygon count or studs or anything like that, but by color and creativity. The enemy isn't games that don't "look like roblox," but Roblox as a platforms complete loss of identity in an attempt to become something it never was, just a game engine.
that is to say graphical fidelity isn't an issue. if Roblox today started to moderate the catalogue, release new, high-res versions of classics hats like visors and shit and added color back to the website and stopped insisting to itself it doesnt exist, I would be completely satisfied.

As someone who started playing Roblox in 2014, I don't really like the classic Roblox look personally, but I respect your views and opinions.
Also, I agree, there is a lot of slop in UGC.
I previously commented here at this channel, And honestly, this guy has the same concerns about ROBLOX as i do. Keep posting man. And, for the love of GOD, please come out after those slop games on the platform that only exist to make money from children via play time and premium payouts.
I'm a 2015 player and to be honest, I don't care about Roblox's art style anymore. They'd already dragged it to the freeway and threw it under an 18-wheeler before UGC came out, and I'm indifferent to the classic styles. While UGC slop is absolutely an issue that would ideally be dealt with, there's some amazing stuff once you wade through all the garbage. It's allowed me to develop my own style of avatars where I can be creative in ways I never could have dreamed of before UGC was a thing.
And for the love of god, please tell me you were exaggerating when you said that anyone who wears those "goober" faces and the furry heads are degenerates. There is undoubtedly bad apples who use them, this isn't a case where the rest of the bunch goes rotten. They're harmless on their own.

I find the anime ugc items to be pretty cool, even if they're making money off of an IP they don't own; I think its neat that I can wear outfits from shows/games/movies/etc that I enjoy

You can reference anime/media you enjoy without breaking the artstyle. It takes a lot more effort to do that, but the items that successfully do so are really great. I just think it's lame to become complacent and settle for less.

Sure some people make items from anime n stuff which is properties they don't own, but there are plenty of people who make ugc clothes or hairs that they put a lot of effort into that look great, I see no reason why they can't put it on the catalog for people to purchase. Is it not a public platform that anyone can upload to?
I think it needs to be regulated ofc, since there are people who take advantage of that freedom to make inappropriate slop items or who just do cheap stuff for a quick buck, but for the people who genuinely try and spend hours in blender making the best thing they can make? Roblox is a big platform, and where you live impacts what players you encounter. I've gotten comments like these a lot and it seems like most people just don't understand how huge Roblox actually is.
It's not the small community of like a couple thousand people it used to be. You won't always see the things I talk about reflected in your own experience with the game just because of how huge it is now.

The "Best" thing doesn't always float to the top. Look at Fortnite, they ruined their art style because more people would buy collab skins than anything else, and now almost every skin is a collab and people are leaving in droves and only returning for "OG/Classic" modes like reload. Even a free market needs regulation.

in my opinion i don't think roblox should've added boobs in general on roblox. If you look at the statistics roblox is literally has more kids playing than adults. I've been seeing way too much UGC items that shouldn't be on the platform? and the fact people buy it and wear it has the be the most degenerate thing anyone can do. I can't, I literally use the original roblox package while people are out here wearing something you'd see a stripper wearing. I wear headdless as well but I don't wear all this ugc crap? and try to act like I play the hood I just have a style I like but it doesn't look like any of the people who wear it LOL roblox is so over.
