In this video we replace the OE battery in the 2016 Honda Odyssey mini van. We installed a new Duralast Platinum AGM battery. The OE battery went dead on a couple of occasions and the vehicle is just shy of 5 years old so it was time to replace it before it stranded us. In this video we cover removing the old battery, cleaning everything, and installing the new battery.

I want you to know that I work at AutoZone and me and some 70yo dude just watched this and changed his battery. Thank you bro

Thank you! Very clear step-by-step demonstration. When I first opened the hood I saw that the battery was completely covered and inaccessible (Great design, Honda!) and that the cover over the battery was held in place by some kind of non-standard plastic fastener I had never seen before. I guess Honda decided to use these plastic clips instead of standard machine bolts to save 20 cents. I wasn’t sure how to remove these cheap plastic clips and didn’t want to force them and possibly break them. Thanks for your clear concise demonstration!

Thank you for posting this video. It made changing my battery out really easy. From start to finish done in under 15 minutes. Including the socket size was a very helpful touch.

I don't see any other videos from anyone about this particular year of Odyssey. Thanks for sharing. Could you possibly make more videos on this year, so more people will know how to fix their own?

All I really needed was info on how to remove the intake. I didn't want to break the clasps. Thanks.

Just learned that my air inlet that covers the battery is missing. The dealership is the only place that I ever received service for my 2016 odyssey.

To reset the radio, mine did not need an actual code. Just press and hold the radio power button.
My key FOBs will not work though.

What did you end up doing about the key fobs? I’m having the same issue right now.

New batteries come with a plastic handle on top. Should this be removed at some point? I left the handle on when I installed my new battery and it presses against the air intake assembly above it.

You can remove it but then when the battery has to be taken out it will be harder to get out. I would just leave it unless you think it will damage the intake.

It pushes up on the intake hard enough that it makes me wonder if one of the two plastic tabs holding the intake down may pop off.

I just came here to find out where the battery was located. It is well hidden.

Did you know that both Costco and AAA will not sell you a battery for a 2016 Honda Odyssey. I asked why and they said the 2016 Odyssey eats batteries in accessory mode. They will not warranty any battery for a 2016 Honda Odyssey. AutoZone Duralast is the only battery you can get. A nice thing to know if you use an AAA membership on family trips and your battery goes dead. This electrical draw problem and the VCM issues make this car a total lemon!

      Interesting I didn't know that.

Just found out that AAA doesn't have these batteries the hard way. Like whats the point of paying for AAA battery service if you don't cover my Honda Odyssey?!
Is it me, or these Odysseys battery-juice guzzlers? Thia is like the 4th time replacing my Odyssey battery but have only replaced my 2009 Accord battery twice?!?!

Yeah, that's not good. What model Odyssey do you have? Is it the touring elite? 4 batteries ...wow that's basically every two years. Is it possible you have a phantom draw on the battery when the car is off?
