Thank you for this video-it remains so helpful with important info/tips that I’ve not seen mentioned in other vids. The tip about the cuticle and why going in reverse is helpful -that made so much sense and I will follow that tip on my next mani.
Thank you! I did a few of my nails while watching this video, very helpful, super appreciated! Been on chemotherapy for about 2 and a half years, and this stuff... I hope this stays on forever! I got the clear stuff to make sure I could see if there were any bubbles or air pockets. OMG! My nails kept flaking, they were starting to hurt. This is so nice! I can run my fingers through my hair without getting caught on all the peely-chipping-yuck, *I LOVE THIS!!!!* This was easy to follow along, and I just can't even tell you how happy I am!
I switched to builder gel about 5 years ago and NEVER looked back!! I’m so happy it’s working for you after such a tough experience. Sending my best wishes ❤️
@@vanessasnailsyt Thank you! I can already see why you love this stuff. I used the clear gel, so I can see if my nails turn colors or show any signs of distress. I was advised by a nails tech to use this stuff like a "shield." I thought she meant gel polish, then communication wasn't clear enough because I thought she meant polygel. I wasted months learning how to do all that stuff when what I really needed was builder gel!!! It feels so natural, and people got no idea how good they have it, but to be able to scratch an itch without my nails bending backwards is AMAZING!
Excellent video…..great tutorial on using the builder gel! I hate when people advertise a builder gel application video and they apply it like gel polish and turn their fingers upside down as if there’s enough product to form an apex (actually doing it only because they have seen others do it) 😤. I guess it’s a pet peeve of mine! Thanks again for the great content!!
@@vanessasnailsyt I guess the main reason for it bothering me SO MUCH is because I feel like there are so many new people trying to learn the correct application process and they are seeing ALL these "tutorials," with people who I genuinely believe want to help, but are actually doing more damage in the long run....especially with people who have longer nails because they need to know how to properly build an apex. The people who have really short nails and are just doing an overlay, I feel, can get away with it because the apex doesn't really need to be that significant in order to support such short nails, if that makes sense. Anyway, it makes me happy when I see people out there making tutorials who actually know what they are doing! 👍🏾👍🏾
I really wish you would build with your fingers pointed down and let gravity help you!! It prevents flooding and helps create a more even nail. Having your fingers pointed up the whole time just encourages the gel to move towards your proximal fold. I meant this in the spirit of helping- I hope it’s read that way. 😊
Great video! I am finally not afraid to try my Builder Gel!! Stupid question....Im assuming you cure after each layer of the Builder Gel, correct? Asking because I've seen others who say to 'skip the curing between 2 of the layers'....which has never made sense to me??? Ty in advance. And Hello from the Panhandle Hills of WV! 💖😊
I tried this today, it peeled right off! It took me 1.5 hours to do both hands, that's with having to start over on 4 fingers. But after everything was set, cured, and finished it peeled all off. I have very thin, ridged nails but I did put the base coat on and buff my nails first. Ugh! This is my second attempt in the last week that's peeled off 😳.
Try using EZflow primer on the natural nail before doing the base coat supply it once let it dry and then apply it again and let it dry then continue with base coat etc.
I have the same problem with Beetles. I got everything that you're supposed to use, and no matter what I do, they peel right off. I used to love Beetles but it seems like their quality has gone downhill, since so many people are doing their own nails. It's like they're so quick to sell their products, but whether or not they're of good quality is a whole different situation. Even their gel polishes have gone downhill.
@@jenniferfuller2254 Oh no sorry to hear that! If you properly prep, use a base coat, build up the nail (you can't just use a thin layer) and top coat it, that it is peeling off. There must be a step missing in there.
If you don’t create a tip and just apply the builder gel to your short natural nail, do you need to create an apex? Or could you just do one thin layer and one slightly thicker layer?
I've never used builder gel before so I have some questions: 1. I assume you're curing the extension with the form on? 2. I have 2 broken nails that I want to extend with next to no free edge, is that possible or do I need to let them grow more first? 3. Should I use the builder to give the other nails that don't need an extension an apex too? 4. Lastly, if I'm applying color on top of the builder do I still need to use a top coat or would I wait to use the top coat after the color? Thanks in advance for your advice! 🙏🏻
You will love it! It does take some getting used too 1. Yes i'm curing the extension on the form 2. I would add a peel off base on the free edge (don't touch your nail) build a small extension on the nail and cure. Once you have done that you can go back with a form and add an extension. You could also just use a nail tip which goes ontop of the nail.
I always use a file when I etch the surface of my nails....I can't stand the way the sanding band feels on my nails no matter how fine the band is.....maybe I'm using it wrong? I'm not sure but the file feels better in my nails to me 😁 I just make sure I prep real good lol
Nice job, love Beetles..could you please tell me what kind of brush the blue one is you used around the cuticles? I need that..I’ve been a tech for 38 years and cannot find a brush like that! Thanks in advance
I hope you had a good vacation but I'm glad to see you back with another video. Now you have inspired me to take Tailgator off and try a brighter color too. I had planned on using Buttercreams Night Owl or Language of Love but now I'm changing it out. Haha. Again welcome back and can't wait for more of your designs. 😉💅
Love this video! I looked it up because I just bought this builder gel in clear from Amazon! I can’t wait to try it! I have brittle nails, and want to try to just keep my nails on the shorter side and do gel polish instead of the gel base with dip powder I have been doing (it’s a pain, and takes so much time!) can I do a thin later of this builder gel, and then my gel polish without it getting too thick?
Yes, I cure between each layer unless it's a slip layer. If you are wearing gloves you can actually just use your fingers. Please just make sure you are wearing gloves
Thank you for the video. I'm a beginner, and put the layers on thin first and cured each time, like I would with normal gel polish and they keep lifting off in one go, so I'll try this next time. Can you tell me how long your nails lasted please?
I'm new to builder gel and I'm just wondering if you cure after the slip layer and if the pinching is necessary for getting a good c curve. If I shape the forms correctly will that be enough?
I haven’t been able to perfect that so I always have to file and buff my nails. I use a little efile bit to get under my nails when the gel gets under there.
Question. I thought you had to use the same brand for each step? Like, using a beetles gel base instead of Gelish since you’re using a beetles builder? I’m so confused lol.

I see A LOT of comments of it peeling off right away. Why? I'm afraid to try it now. I don't want to put my nails through all that just to have it peel off.
To be honest.... they are doing it wrong, if it just 'peels' off they didn't use a base coat. You must use a base coat and a top coat with this product.

How long do I have to leave it in the UV light before using the pinching tool?
How long did you cure for and what wattage is your Uv lamp? I have this gel and I can’t get it to cure hard enough without the top being sticky/wet.
Oh thank you! I didn’t know this. Do I just wipe it with alcohol?
Can you do long extensions with builder gel? Love how informative this video is. ❤️

Exactly what I want to do! I can’t stand long nails anymore, so I just keep my nails short now.

Which is easier for a beginner, builder gel or poly gel? I love beetles gel polishes but I have weak nails
where did you get that red thing you used to build?
They are the nail forms, I have linked them in the description! sorry I thought I already did that.
Do you cure the first thin layer of gel over all nail,or keep building without curing in the uv?
I use base > cure, slip layer than larger bead > cure, top coat > cure
The first full layer after the slip layer do you use an alcohol wipe before putting the next layer ?
I only take off the tacky layer if i'm going to file or do a detailed hand painted design
I'm new to builder gel and I'm just wondering if you cure after the slip layer and if the pinching is necessary for getting a good c curve. If I shape the forms correctly will that be enough?
Hi! You do not cure the slip layer, it’s a guide for the larger bead. You can get a c-curve without the pinching tool, just makes it easier imo
New subscriber here! ❤❤❤
Thanks for subbing! I appreciate the support ❤️
What kind of base do you use before the buildergel ? I go straight in after the primer and it doesn't feel to come off. Is it normal Gel bast coat ?
I use Gelish Foundation (Which is a base) after the young nails protein bond. You need a base coat so the builder gel will stay on the nails
How long does it take you in total to finish both hands
I need your help. I followed your steps and most of my nails ended up with jagged or bumpy parts underneath my nails. How can I pre my that?
I haven’t been able to perfect that so I always have to file and buff my nails. I use a little efile bit to get under my nails when the gel gets under there.
When using this builder gel, which times in between needs to be cured and when do you not cure?
