Great video! I actually didn't know about the first 2 steering wheel techniques. I learned something today!

Very interesting I only use the 3rd one when sim racing mostly because I use a open wheeler or F1 rim! I do have a round rim but I usually use it to drive older cars & manual as there are not enough buttons on the round wheel lol.

Thank you for the kind words Jim! Really happy you found it useful. Can't believe I went so long driving without this technique😅

@@TraumaTeamRacing I have most of it now. I got the Trak Racer TR160 with stand alone quad monitor stand, 4 AOC 32" curved monitors. My simucube 2 pro will be here Thursday 5/5/22 my last big pc. Then my nephew that is helping me with the build will come install windows 10 on the dedicated game computer he built for me.

Wow! That is one heck of a setup🙌🏻
I hear the Simucube 2 is a thing of beauty. You should enjoy that a lot👍🏻
Triples is the way to go I feel. Those AOCs should stand you in good stead💪🏻

I never knew 9&3 had a proper name. Rotational method it is. I cannot say I use it in my real car though. Yes I grip the wheel at 9 & 3, but if I need to rotate the wheel more than 180⁰ I tend to spin it with one hand. To my defense, I mainly drive short city grid commutes and rarely encounter twisty roads. Its 98% stop and go on the daily.
When sim racing its 100% rotational method. I started doing it when I got a FFB wheel for Forza Motorsport 2 on the XB360. The Microsoft Wireless Racing Wheel had a hair less than 180⁰ of rotation, so it was best to leave your hands planted at 9 & 3. I eventually replaced the wheelbase with a Fanatec CSR, which was designed with 9 & 3 being the ideal places to put your hand. After that, it stuck and even though I now have a Fanatec WRC wheel, I keep my hands at 9 & 3, and only remove my hands when I need to turn past 180⁰. Thinking about it, Fanatec's CSR was kind of like a training aid for the rotational method.

Ww Jnz! Thank you for the comment mate! I always use it in on my commute, I am a big believer in muscle memory. Any opportunity to practice good habits needs to be taken 💪🏻 I am not a fan of the 'spin the wheel' trick but each to their own 😅
Forza is also where I started! Although perhaps a little later with Forza Horizon 4. The Fanatec WRC wheel is an awesome wheel. I hope you are doing some rally with it! 💪🏻 Once I started using rotational it boggled my mind how I was 'feeding the wheel' for so long. Seems so unnatural now.

Found this channel in your post history when you posted about looking for a liver designer. This is great stuff! Love the high quality of the videos.

Hahaha! No way! 😅 Thanks for joining the team Metroshica👌🏻 Really appreciate the feedback, always nice to hear. Hopefully get the livery up and running as I wanted to try doing an iRacing blog of sorts😅

I've been using the rotational technique since I was like 7 or 8. It seems the most natural to me. Other techniques just seem too weird and clumsy for me.

I agree with you! I need to admit I only started using the rotational once I started sim racing. My driving has now been changed considerably.

    Love the rotational method.
However, I still find it hard to use it when I try to hard turn left/right. Saw some videos talking about using the shuffle after your arms crosses with the Rotational technique. Great video tho and love it :)

Good vid, sadly i have a Thrustmaster branded wheel base so wheels are limited to around 4 variations with F1 wheels ideally limiting the crossover techniques on some corners on some games etc, I have the Sparco wheel and tho nice has some button limitation issues. Love that Porsche wheel by Fanatec. Thanks for the vid hope your channel grows😉👍👍

You are most welcome! Thank you for the kind words😊 Thrustmaster is an excellent wheel base. I wish Fanatec did something similar to their Ferrari wheel. The Sparco wheels are lovely👌

As much as I understand the idea of doing real world driving the same as sim for the muscle memory there is a slight problem. If you are ever in a crash that will deploy the air bag and your arms are in a crossed possision, you arms are in thenway of the air bag. This can result in burn marks and broken arms. So be carefull when doing the rotation technique in the real world.

I remember when I first started I used to do some weird hybrid of the two. Commiting to one really sorted things out😊
