I like it when you show outfits that look great, this is inspiring and helps us get a mindset of what we like. It is easy for me to pick out a couple of favorite looks you show, while admitting “not for me” to others… I like seeing outfits in good taste. Also love classic items that still look great . For me (as feedback) I learned to weed out large prints, large florals, long skirts with prints and move toward solid color shorter skirts with shorter jackets. I have lost 3 inches in height (in my 70’s) and need to readjust my style to feel in proportion.

I love your channel and am delighted when new videos drop! Most helpful recently have been content about elegant and over-60 wardrobe advice. And, having gone gray from medium brunette hair, I am puzzled by the issue of feeling out of balance without my formerly darker hair in contrast my clothes. Also, the gray tricked me into thinking I needed to pair cooler colors with it, which washed out my skin (I'm naturally a warm autumn palette). I love your gray-hair content--so helpful! I'm pulling together my Pinterest boards. Thank you so much for your channel--I'm loving it!

Mini-skirts forever! My legs are that good at age 64, lucky me. It’s genetic, My Mom’s and Grandma’s were great into their 80s. If only I had the luck to have a slim waist, too, but I don’t! My rule was always skirts and shorts no shorter than mid-thigh, even as a teenager, I’m a modest woman, but most ‘“minis” end just a few inches above my knees because I’m short.

About 20 years ago I bought some heavy jersey knit pull on pants from Michael Kors and White House Black Market. They are more chic than leggings, yet more casual than dress pants. I still have them and wear them. They are black and I will never get rid of them until they fall apart and then I’ll cry. 😂

Haha! See this is the thing if you find that one thing you wear over and over again it is worth every penny and is probably the most sustainable item in your wardrobe because of how many times you’ve worn it

Thank you for your clear and well thought out content. My thought is that if you have worn it once when it was in style in your youth, don't wear it again. Those trends are for the youth who are experimenting and rightly so. But that doesn't mean it is a time for the older generation to revisit their youth. We need to smile and remember how far we have come since then! 😊 Cheers! (and you now have a new subscriber!)

Yes, whenever it’s cold enough, I wear opaque tights and my beloved Stuart Weitzman OTK suede boots with my mini skirts/dresses. I like the boots because they make my stick legs look fuller, and, more importantly, they keep me warm. They might not be trendy now, but I don’t care, I never get rid of high-quality leather boots, I just keep on wearing them.

How would you develop a plan for packing for a trip? Do you have any strategies that you use to make good choices for outfits and pieces that look and field great? I often feel like when I’m thinking about what to bring on a trip, it’s very aspirational, like not things that I would wear everyday at home and I’m not sure that always results in a good plan. I often feel like I’ve rather had to over pack because that vacation look requires too many new pieces that I wouldn’t normally wear, or nothing works with anything else that I brought and the things I’m missing are basic pieces. I’ve seems some methods online like the 333 or the 54321. Do you have a method or strategy that works for you or that you like to recommend for clients? Or tips?

I hope you don't mind me coming in here. I am 70 and have done with heavy cases. I live in Sicily. In May I did a week in the UK and France, with a light wheelie and a smallish handbag. I had no opportunity to do laundry. I wore the heaviest items: trainers, jeans, shirt and a buttery soft caramel suede jacket. Packed light linen trousers and violet silk trousers. 3 t-shirts and one linen shirt. One pair of sandals. Changes of underwear and one pair of pyjamas. All colours went together. In Nice, I got a shampoo and blowdry

This is a very good question and funnily enough one of my next videos is about packing for a trip. I don’t believe in numbers because they don’t take into account the climate, how long you are there or what you plan to do. It’s a lot to write here but you might find this helpful. capsuleclosetstylist.com/travel-capsule-wardrobe/ in addition look out for the next few videos. When do you leave?

I love my knit (jersey) dresses, I just size up a size so that they’re not clingy. These are winter staples for me, especially my cashmere and Merino ones, cotton blends with these are great, too. A knit dress is the most comfy winter outfit ever, with tights or long socks, depending on skirt length, and to go out, I add boots and a wool blazer or coat. I loathe Spandex and can’t wear synthetics, but it’s so hard to find knit dresses without them. I’m a daily dress or skirt outfit wearer, my shape is too unusual to fit trousers and they’re so uncomfortable on me.

I wear “crop tops” a lot. I’m short and very short-waisted and most of these just cover or meet my waistband. I don’t want to show torso skin, so barring that, the shorter the top, the better on me in general. Even petite tops are usually unflatteringly long, I don’t want tops that go down to my thighs! The longest top I’ll wear ends above my hipbones, or I tuck it in. Showing the waist is important for all figures, regardless of size or shape. Big, long tops visually shorten the legs and give a big, block shape to the torso. Proportions are critical in styling.

@@capsuleclosetstylist Hi. Depends on the occasion, but I tend to wear a fitted black top, with a black tuxedo blazer, or, more casually, a chunky black sweater. If I wear the kilt, which is pleated, I'd wear a slightly more fitted & shorter knit.
