Alasdair à Gleanna garadh - Alasdair of Glengarry
It is a traditional song sung by Rachel Walker
It's about Alexander Dubh who was chief of the MacDonalds of Glengarry between 1705 and 1721. He took the lead at the head of Macdonald's army and fought with Graham Claverhouse at the Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689. He was renowned for his skill in battle and his bravery in fighting, he fought on the Jacobites side at the battle of Sheriffmuir in the 1715 rebellion. The song never says who is speaking the words but it is obvious that it is someone who cares for him, as they state they have shed tears for him at his death. It is also obvious that he was well-liked, he is spoken of as a hero and a champion.
