Hmm! I think I want to try the boiled artichoke just because it's so much more green! I enjoy boiled cabbage, I wonder if it's similar?
Boiling it take alot of the antioxidants and vitamins out.. steam is better
Love the steaming way ! Looks so tasty
Thank you 😋
WOW!! I was wondering about the purple part. Absolutely loved your video. Thank you. What other ways have you cooked them?
Thank you! One of my favorite ways is to cut the artichokes in half and roast them. So much flavor!
I quarter mine and cut out the choke and I keep the stems on
Then I bake them in the oven with olive oil and salt, covered with foil, 425°F, for about 20 minutes and a few mins without the foil to get a little more color on them
I would like to try to steam one and see how I feel but I don’t think it can compare to the flavors I get from the oven n olive oil
Baking definitely has more flavor compared to steaming, but it's always fun to test!
Goin to try an Instant Pot. I didn’t think about it until I saw this video.
Let me know how it goes!
Love artichokes
Steaming always better than boiling. Less mushy and doesnt wash away nutrients and flavor.
Those artichokes are so pretty
Quick, what color was the artichoke?
Does it have to be trimmed?
Yes! To make them more edible and enjoyable!
@@JessicaGavin thanks for the reply!!
I went ahead and boiled one without trimming (to save time) and I can now see how trimming would help. 😊😊( This was my first time attempting to make one)
Good thing, I'm the only one in the house who likes them so I'm carefully avoiding getting poked while still enjoying it 😅😊 and I can't wait to try again!
Your video and reply was very helpful to me! Thanks!! 💖💖
yummy
something tells my old brain that a petroleum product (call it steamer pad or whatever-else u fancy) will probably release carcinogens under heat. Why this beautiful gal cannot figure this out is besides me!
Now how do I actually eat it
How does it taste?😮😮😮😮😮
It almost has a nutty taste, but mild in flavor. Sort of like asparagus but not as strong.
Forgot to take the pinchies out
You didn’t do what Dan I did
I cut mine in half. Then scoop out the choke. Next boil to tender. Finally drizzle oil on face and throw it on grill to give it a smoky flavor.
Humm ok that's 2 ways to cook it
But 0 ways to eat it most people don't know how to
Artichokes are one of my favorite foods. My grandma would make them on holidays and special occasions (she was NY Italian). Your kitchen in beautiful by the way 😊
Thank you so much!
Got a Recipe for Pickling this Large Boys? ❤❤❤
I've always boiled them. But I don't add that much water. Probably just enough to cover half and then halfway through cooking I rotate them. Then I let it rest in the water for about an extra 10-15 minutes
Now how do you eat it? Doesn't look that edible!
I stuff my artichokes. So yummy!
I’d fry it with bacon then discard the artichoke 😂
Skipped the 1 part i needed lol wtf
Good video but how do we open up and eat them?
They are always so hard to deal with
I usually just pluck the leaves to eat them. They should pull away easily if they are fully cooked. You can also cut the artichoke in half lengthwise to get to the heart in the center.
2 artichokes in de boiler,
and 2 other artichokes were
watching the
cooking procedure !!
iprefer eating all de four
First, how do you best clean and trim an artichoke?
To clean and trim an artichoke, remove the stem, cut off the top inch, snip off the thorny tips, gently pull apart the leaves, and scoop out the fuzzy choke with a spoon. Place the cleaned artichoke in lemon water to prevent browning.
@@JessicaGavin thank you 😊
I love artichokes! And watching the way you cook them looks so much easier than the way I do it! I'm going to try your way. Thanks for the help 👏💯
You are so welcome!
Very informative! Thank you! Best video i've seen on this
Glad it was helpful!
Iv never knowingly had one. Odd looking thing
The book guts 💀💀💀
You should have shown his you cleaned it etc before
The steamed one looks greener. I wonder the difference in taste.
I feel that the steaming retains more flavor because it's not being submerged in the water.
Why is the top missing?
Boiled. Come on now.
NEITHER
both 😊😘
What if you don't have a steamer?
You can boil the artichoke! Just place the stem-side down, and cover the pot with a li. Cook for about 20 minutes until the leaves are tender. Hope this helps!
Yum
Thank you, queen. 🙏🥰
No problem 😊
Thank you 🙏🏻
Any time!
No explanation of how to eat it.
This is showing you how to cook artichokes in 2 ways. I have an article about artichokes and ways of eating them www.jessicagavin.com/artichokes-101/
@@JessicaGavin Thanks - great article!
Water tastes sweet the day after
Guts book lol
Actually makes a cool vietnamese drink called nuoc mat (maybe minus the salt).
Thank you 😊
Welcome!
Wtf... ??? 😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️
Artichoke has filaments inside that you should get rid of first by cutting them in half, and she left far too many green leaves. You should remove leaves until you find the more yellow ones.
But why?
Search up Cool Kevmo artichoke. He has a great grilled recipe and shows how to take out the choke in the easiest way I’ve seen
Nice Asian
