Hey im just getting into this industry and im going to swift to make it happen. Ill do my best to be the best example of a new driver, but old timers... When you see a new driver dont give him the cold shoulder, give him a couple tips.. I know some people my age dont want it. But im open to hearing anything you guys tell me so we can make the roads and truckstops safer.
Red Eagle, basically a lease operator building a fleet on Werner’s authority. Werner tries pawning off young inexperienced drivers to them and a few other of these “fleets” right away basically with the promise of making a little bit more money. They tried that with me a few month into the start of my career with a fleet called Red Hawg Express. Guy basically had junk former Werner trucks and I was in a brand new Freightliner. Wasn’t a difficult decision for me.
I empathize with what you went through. I've only been driving 4 years but I always back slowly and get out and look. There have been a few times that I thanked God that I got out and looked because it would have been an unnecessary disaster. I've got nothing to prove to anyone but myself that I can do my job and get home safely. Other drivers have had to wait a little bit while I've backed into spaces but, tough, I've waited for some slow drivers too. I have more respect for slow backing and G.O.A.L. I know drivers have watched me back slowly and have probably had more respect for me because I got out a few times and looked. There have been plenty of times when I've tried a few too many times, given up and moved on to another spot just so I don't have an accident. The old adage, "Live to back (fight) another day." That looks like one of my favorite truck stops in SLC, SAPP Bros. Is that right, Dave?
I feel your frustration. I’m 58 years old I’ve been driving since I was 19 semi trucks off and on. These companies like Woerner swift these big companies need to be held accountable. And they’re not I watched a guy from CR England back right into owner operators truck took him a half hour to back the truck up before he hit the owner operators truck These companies need to be held accountable for their company drivers backing into owner operators vehicle puts us out of service we lose money we lose potential loads. Set needs to be done. These guys are not fit to be on the road and they’re giving us all a bad very bad name in the Trucking in the Industry
I'm sure it's mainly laziness that the "driver" neglected to get out and look. It's still astonishing that the vast majority of truckers don't get out and walk maybe 60 feet to see if they are lined up right. I hope you are able to get those repairs done and it doesn't eat up too much of your time.
I'm a former Werner Enterprises driver on Dollar General account. No accidents or anything, and he totally had set up way off and not even a blind side back. Wtf?

I had the same thing happen only good thing is Warner pays fast I got estimate and got a check for 23,000 within 2 weeks the driver saw he hit me and took off running stop signs I chased him down and drove him onto the shoulder to be able to get a police report
Jeremy Ware did that include your down time? I’ve been hit twice now by cars and got my down time paid as well. I don’t foresee more than two days downtime on this one.
Place money that no one seen a thing either as they all scattered and closed the curtains. Had it happen to me. While i was backing into a spot and got backed into. All the drivers scattered, no one wanted to be a witness. What the fool in front of me was thinking i will never know. He was a ways up and as i looked back to see where trailer was i had face full of container in my grill. Even tried to blame me but security footage and his inability to stay put for photo's and paperwork proved otherwise.
Perhaps it's a scam of the insurance companies... Put a bad driver on purpose to hit people everywhere ! Then... Increase your insurance premium FEES !
That driver will get fired automatically for not getting out and look.. and actually the company does train their drivers to get out and look.. I worked for Werner and that's what they first teach you
What do you expect when people are being trained by someone who has 6 months of experience themselves. And if they are taught bad things bad things will happen.
Stay clear of Werner drivers... I am not sure who's worse, Werner or Swift.... Most Werner drivers are never taught to drive, they hold steering wheel for 4 to 8 weeks while their trainer is sleeping in the back, then they get released out as a solo driver. Most of them never figure out how to be a safe driver, get in an accident or two, or three, and get fired... over 90% of their drivers never get past their 1 year mark as a driver and they quit. Sad.
Do not forget Fedex or even now Amazons delivery vans. Not one but 5 of them near lincoln, Ne on the bumpers of cars and trucks. Maybe 6 inches apart. Can not wait til winter when they are lined up in the ditches like ducks in a pond. Add them to the list.

You not gonna repair the truck. Company is gonna pocket the money. But it does suck to damage a new rig. Drivers are : Tired Frustrated Depressed Bad day Things didnt go right Just many things go thu a driver You can teach a driver every single day the Proper way to backup but in the end it's up the driver . The rig only goes where the driver turns.
I take videos of other drivers backing up if there it will within my view. And I will tournament if I see him hit another truck. Silence is consent if we stay silent we can sent the wrong doing

mrtoabal of course he’s a Werner Driver. Warner cut the insurance check. Fleet owners running Werner freight are still considered Werner drivers. The only time that’s not the case is if Werner hires a carrier to pull their trailer power only.

chopperx01 Werner is self insured. Even their contracted fleets are through Werner’s instance.
