Checl out the video 'Kieth Haring New Year's Eve Party' on 5ninthavenue project channel. It's an hour long home movie/vlog from 1984. Great snapshot of an era. That channel is brilliant, Nelson documented a decade of the scene. Cheers
Keith is a master of productivity. It's that discipline of constant productivity that's at the foundation of all artists. Keith is a master and am blessed to have walked the Earth at the same time.
Keith hearing would have been bigger than Andy Warhol had he lived past the 80s undoubtedly I'm literally wearing slides with his images on it.. He surpasses time and like someone said in another doc, cave drawings have come back. He's timeless
Haring was fine. Warhol was too. There’s no way for us to say whose work will endure for the next century and beyond. There were people in the 19th century whose name every American knew and they are completely unknown today. Don’t let recency bias and personal opinion bias cloud objective thinking.
@@MikeJohn-tb1yp Andy Warhol's work usually sells for more than Jean-Michel Basquiat's. His painting "Shot Sage Blue Marilyn" sold for $195 million in 2022, which is the most expensive painting sold at auction by an American artist. Keith Haring's work sells for millions, but none of his paintings are amongst the most expensive ever sold.
Anyone know the name of the model he painted toward the 30 minute mark ? If he's still alive I imagine he'd be about 65 now ... Curious to see what he's doing these days ...
the bbc documentary about keith reveals that this huge window-painting was shot and then removed, because it gave people the impression of cultural appropiation. but keith was just doing his stuff.
I was born in the early 80s, in nyc this guys work was everywhere. His influence is serious even companies like McDonald's captured his influence and color. There are fashion brands that were seriously influenced by this guy.
Point one Keith Haring vs Australia Yeah artists really dig things like water obscuring and damaging their work.Especially felt tip pen and water Keith Harinng 0 Australia 1
Nice to hear from Haring himself! So much content talks about his life & his work. Rare to hear the dialogue come directly from him. Thank you!
