Anthony won imo. What Joe said about hip-hop having a cap no matter how big the artist because the genre isn't respected in mainstream is one of the reasons why you have to put the ultimate respect on Mariah Carey. At the height of her career as one of the biggest in pop music selling 30 million back to back she went and worked with Mobb Deep, ODB, Nas, etc..She isn't regarded as an r&b artist but a pop artist. She gave gritty hip-hop artists that mainstream look. Other pop artists weren't working with street rappers at the time. I remember Nicki saying she was one of the few pop artists that she feels doesn't take and how she gave Nicki a look when Nicki only had her mixtapes out.

Dre and co got it right with their selections. You have to look at it from a global scale. Too often Americans forget about the rest of the world and only think regionally or nationally. The hits Dre picked are probably the among the artists biggest tracks globally and also go with the message the artists are trying to convey or the Suberbowl/showbiz theme.

Man I really find myself listening to this whole podcast more and more and that’s something I didn’t do with the old gang. Whatever they doing now I’m liking and hope it’s up from here.
Have to disagree about the presentation of the half time show. I thought it was dope and fit LA and hip hop - and to be honest am glad they didn't go with all the extra shit like parachuting in. The set was incredible, they did what they could with lights given the timeslot and it being day light out, and the lack of over the top theatrics kept attention on the performers and the music, which is where it should have been imo. One of the best half time shows ever
The designer of the set did that, it looked 🔥

I loved the Sopranos commercial. It was obvious Jamie-Lynn Sigler was emotional meeting Robert Iler just filming those familiar scenes without James Gandolfini no longer here (R I.P)...but it also read as Meadow meeting A.J. after what happened to their father, Tony, in the last scene in the restaurant. It was an incredible break of that fourth wall between entertainment and reality 🤯.
That’s how I saw it too, definitely saw it as a sneaky series finale for Sopranos.

No More Drama was perfectly placed. First you build up the energy, then you break it down a little with a slower track (No More Drama) so you can build up again to the grand finale.
