I was scared that they might have been evil. When we saw they were part of the BATS I was like they must be a kinda inside spy to help take down Belos. I was mostly positive that is how it was and I was correct. Of course there were a couple moments where I thought they might have revealed they were against Eda

Yeah the moment they started playing I realized this was a suicide mission... I cried SO hard. They were ready to sacrifice their own lives for a greater good - stopping Belos.
Raine let it slip at first when they accepted Eda into the BATs, they said "Well, if you've got nothing to lose.. we could use the extra help" because Rain was already risking everything to stop the tyranny, their literal head is on the line! I wonder if seeing Eda almost get petrified made them more convinced that stopping Belos was the right thing to do, no matter the cost... for all witches on the Boiling Isles 🥺 This is such an emotional episode, the music is enchanting and the voice actors are so good, plus it's jam-packed with lore. J can never rewatch it without crying

It’s a super minor thing, but the reverence in Eda’s reaction when Raine summons the instrument (idk if it’s a guitar or a mandolin or what) into her hands makes me really happy. Like, Eda so obviously has such fond remembrance and appreciation for bard magic and that instrument in particular-even though she feels she can’t do that magic, she cares so deeply for it. It just makes me really really happy
That flashback scene of Raine's Rhapsody is so damn romantic, like if that scene doesn't scream love I don't know what does.

eda could be a lesbian, but it doesnt seem likely since she has dated men before. some real-world lesbians have relationships with men for a variety of reasons, but homophobia doesnt exist in the Boiling Isles, meaning she wouldnt have felt pressured to date men.
and no, raine isnt a man _or_ a woman. youre referring to assigned sex (the M or F marker you’re given when you’re born based on what kind of body you have, basically) which does not always match gender identity, meaning whether someone is a girl or a boy or something else. so a boy could have been told he was a girl because a doctor said he was female and he was given the “girl” gender identity to match. same with girls, some are born with a “male” body and given the boy gender but are actually girls.
nonbinary people are everyone else. some people have no internal gender or a weak sense of it. some have a more neutral gender. some feel both masculine and feminine in a way that they feel doesnt fit into being a boy or a girl. some have multiple genders or a gender that changes. etc etc. basically nonbinary people are people who dont fit strictly into the binary gender categories of girl/woman or boy/man.
also btw gender expression (clothes, pronouns, etc) does not always align with gender identity. anyone can be masculine, feminine, androgynous, or any combination regardless of what their gender is.
another note: trans people are the gender they identify as. someone transitioning from male to female is not a man transitioning to a woman, she is a woman who is trans. someone transitioning from female to male is the same but inverse. nonbinary people aren’t “really” their given gender. they’re whichever gender they identify as!
tl;dr, eda is (probably) not a lesbian and raine is not a boy or girl. they’re nonbinary, so they’re neither ❤️

something that really stood out to me is that in the first episode, Eda stated that she used the Owl House to hide from specifically ex *boyfriends.* Meaning that she never wanted to hide from Raine (or really any other exes that don't identify as male she could possibly have had) but it just stood out to me that she never wanted to hide from them, but with Raine on their way to becoming the Head Bard, and her with her curse and being an infamous outlaw, they cut each other out in more ways than one and am I looking way too far into some throwaway line in the first episode maybe but
