How to fix spikes on the Helicopter Cube [EN]

The first step in solving the Helicopter Cube is bring it back in cube shape. Here I explain the relevant steps, namely how to remove the "spikes" which may appear. An even number of spike pairs is easy, the odd number case is a bit more tricky (for example, when there is exactly one pair of spikes).
