One very small tip I've had success with against this rush is usually the (defender's) temple is still being built when the Kronos advances. Don't finish it until right when you have enough food to advance, then finish and click up. They won't be able to deconstruct while it is still building. Nice gameplay!
That's a VERY good tip! I think my only fear here would be that the two myth units would be able to quickly destroy it since building foundations have terrible armor? That would lose the resources completely
That was some insane defense man. Well played. I absolutely HATE this kind of playstyle in a strategy game - just rush and win in less than 10 min and completely disregard the entirety of the mythic age or even heroic age gameplay at times.
Yeah, it can definitely be super frustrating to play against. Thankfully I don't run into many instances like this where it really is a FULL all-in classical age. I think ultimately, I enjoy more variety in strategies and builds compared to fewer, so as long as it isn't too frequent, I don't mind it toooo much.
Now how do you defend as Egyptian on an open land map against Norse + Atlantean early aggression combo? Especially if they decide to go to your ally and you're just slower than their cavalry.
Hmm. Thats tricky, Egyptian definitely can struggle early game before they get their big power spikes later. I think there are a few ways you could try to play it. It's ultimately going to be game-to-game though I think. If you're reasonably close to your ally, on say Giza or something, you should be able to do double counter barracks and get units over to help within a reasonable amount of time. Especially if you and your teammate are scouting and see the rush coming in. At that point, the most important thing is that you're making the right type of units to counter the opponent, and it compliments what your teammate is trying to go for. If the opponent is going for large masses of Cav, then they won't be able to easily take out buildings so your ally might be able to get away with building another tower or two and some more walls and couter-cav units and bunker in their base until you get there, OR... If you can pull of a really solid 1 TC fast heroic build, then that can be a great option for Eggys. You're goal would be to try to be up right around 6 minutes or so, and drop a Migdol stronghold ASAP. You can then save your teammate with god powers + migdol units. The weight is on your shoulders at this point though. If it really was a 2v1 classical age all-in, you're teammate might be on the verge of death and you will need to win the game now. Definitely don't try to expand eco here. You need to all-in yourself. Scouting is your best friend here. The sooner you see the rush coming in and the sooner you see what their unit composition is, the better you and your teammate can react. As the ally, you can only do so much. The person that gets rushed needs to be able to defend it reasonably well otherwise its over no matter what. Even if you're there with an army to defend, if you're ally loses half their eco, it might already be GG. Hope that kind of helps, good luck in your games!
I should add quickly, if they attack YOU as the Egyptian player, then its a best case scenario. You get your tower upgrades for free, your counter barrack units are cheap, and your houses are free. So quickly house wall around your towers, get some priests and barracks units out and try as hard as possible to not lose gold!
@@hot_mitts wow, that was super detailed, thanks a lot! And yes, in my experience it is usually the non-egyptian that gets focused on, and helping that ally (I mainly play 2v2s when it comes to team games) can be really hard. You don't have great raiding to pressure an opponent and the building destruction capabilities are extremely poor, too, and when trying to chase raiders (hippeus and raiding cav break through walls and houses pretty fast), you are often outrun and outmaneuvered.
Remember, if you're rushed, don't panic! As long as you have gold access you can fight it off!

@@hot_mitts yep gotta play the fence there for sure
As soon as they realized you wouldn’t give up, they crumbled 😮
OMG! I always panic when I get rushed. I guess with norse (loki especially) gold is importante in second age
Masterful defense king 👑
