Sounds like the same difference between some of the longer 21' Surfskis (Epic V10, Fenn Elite, etc) and the 18'6" Nelo 560 which feels much livelier on waves.

I've got a buddy who weighs in at 230 and this is his canoe of choice. I'm at 195, and it seems perfect.
