    Corey, I love that you changed the PW container recipes and created your own planter combinations. I love the peach begonia you used in the last container. I've never felt obligated to follow someone else's ideas of how a container should look. I just put together plants that I'm drawn to and have always enjoyed the result. I'm looking forward to seeing these grow and spill out of the pots. 🐝💐🦋🤗

      I’m a lot with you in changing things up. As long as people are paying attention to the plant size and vigor, the options are endless 😍

    Your basket is so beautiful. I can't wait to see it when it starts to fill out. The begonias are gorgeous. Live the peachy/salmon colors juxtaposed with the Chartreaux Sweeat Potato & the Colueus. Great choices imho.☺️💕🌸

    Thank you so much for giving us the courage to "cheat" on the container recipes.

      I’m such a rebel 🤣
      Must confess, I appreciate having the recipes as a resource… but there’s no way most of us could have access to all those plants.

    Love them both! Sometimes, I just can't find the Proven Winners plants where I live, so I have to come up with different ideas and other plant brands. Proven Winners has beautiful plants, but it's so difficult to find anyone around my area who carries them. Some of the big-box stores have a few things here and there, but never what the "recipes" call for, it seems. Thanks for showing how easy it is to just do what you want.

      I’ve seen the mixed-bag of PW plants that are usually available at the box stores, and if you don’t have an independent garden center nearby that carries them, it’s tough.
      Fortunately, if you pay attention to the plant size and vigor, finding subs can be an adventure 😀
      Glad you’ve managed to be resourceful!

    I didn’t know that Proven Winners had "recipes". I really enjoyed learning from your interpretations of them. I feel better prepared to create my containers. Still a month before it's warm enough here.

    Nice containers and it is great that you are mixing it up to show us we don't have to follow the recipe. I did smile when you were holding the begonia and said we need more of this colour in our lives...and it matches the colour of your shirt 🤣

    I live at high altitude in Colorado Springs, Colorado. When it comes to full sun vs some shade , does the altitude have an impact?
    I understand it is especially dry here, and that is something I have to watch, but am curious about sun intensity . I have found no resources from my extension service for hanging pots. Any advice, or ideas how to search better?
    Thank you for your generosity and knowledge

    • @UpNorthGardenMI
      @UpNorthGardenMI  6 месяцев назад

      I have never lived at altitude, so I can’t offer any advice. That said, your plants are good at telling you when they’re not happy. If you catch the signs in time, you can relocate them.
      Your local garden center should be able to make regional suggestions. They may not be able to comment directly on high vs low altitude conditions, but they know what works in your area.

    I love all the combinations. When planting, I remove most of the potting medium from store plants. Is that wrong? It would be helpful if a San Antonio, TX combination pot was featured.

    • @UpNorthGardenMI
      @UpNorthGardenMI  6 месяцев назад +1

      I’d say removing potting media is not necessary, but if you’ve been having good results, there’s no major reason to change how you’re planting.
      I wish I could recommend plants for your area, but a Michigander probably won’t have the best advice for a Texas garden 😁
      Thanks for watching and for your comment.

    Hi Corey, I’m a new sub from Manitoba, zone 3 Canada. I’m looking forward to inspo from a zone close to me. Great info by the way! What zone are you located in? 🇨🇦👏🇨🇦

    • @UpNorthGardenMI
      @UpNorthGardenMI  6 месяцев назад +2

      We’re officially zone 5 now, but zone 4 plants definitely fare better for any of is who live inland from the Great Lakes.
      Thanks for the comment and sub.
