Thanks for the stream. I think saying order=good is a common mistake. Order is just the maintaining of what is, it's counter is chaos. Chaos is force of uncreation, which is why when Chaos won the world was undone and a new world had to be created. I think it makes sense that lots of different kinds of factions form an uneasy alliance. Of course DoK are order, because of Morathi's self interest; she needs the realms to be maintained (she will manipulate them, and even risk their ruin for her own power).
I actuall really like this. I think it's more interesting than, these are the good factions, these are the bad factions (although, sometimes I feel like GW try to hard to make every faction grim).
For balance within a Devastator squad, they could also improve all the weapons to the level of the LasCannon. Try a Heavy Bolter at A4 AP -2 Sustained, for example.
This would make me giggle when using them 😂
I will probably give it a go. I have 1k points of each of the 4 gods of Daemons and so it won't cost me anything to try the CP style of game.

Liam, its cos you hit post nut clarity with 10th... The regret stage... 10th 40K is a regret. Especially if you have played Heresy in various forms, Zone Mortalis, different Rights of war etc... Heresy is far superior to 40k, just like old Warhammer Fantasy cough cough the old World is superior to AoS.
I've played 40k since 2nd, WHFB since 2nd, and all of GWs current games. The best GW game currently is Blood Bowl far better now than when I first played it in 98. While I agree WHFB is better than TOW. It isn't better than AoS. None of the current Gen 40k secondary games, HH and LI are fairly mediocre games. HH is based off of 7th Ed 40k rules which generally sucked horribly. I've played it and 40k is miles better.
I get HH nostalgia but 10th Ed is actually better balanced than any other GW game that isn't Blood Bowl or Talisman.
But then to each their own.

40k should have 2 different games, one for tournaments and new starters like 10th and a narrative granular version similar to 7th. I want to get into heresy but the lack of xenos puts me off.
You mean like 9th just flipped.
Genuine question, why does the lack of xenos put you off Heresy?
No judgment and there is no “wrong” answer or anything 🤗 As a former 40k player who moved to Heresy, I am just genuinely curious 🤗
If you are worried about lack of flavour, the legions in 30k all feel very different from each other (far more than in 40k) and each faction has unique units and weapons which keeps things interesting 🤗
@bear4278 It just seems like there's a lack of diversity in the factions. I love marines, but most of my play group doesn't. One plays orks, one plays nids, and another tau. They have no interest in heresy.
I've been through the rules for heresy, and they do look cool, and if my mates were into it (trust me, I've tried), I'd be playing it too.
If Xenos had rules in heresy, I think my group would play it. We are not a fan of 10th, so we're currently looking into AoS.

As I mentioned, the legions play very differently to each other in 30k compared to 40k. For instance, there is basically no difference between Iron Warriors and Night Lords in 40k (other than just in the lore), but in 30k they feel completely different and each legion has unique units that only they can take 🤗
For instance, Iron Warriors are good at shooting (and especially good at killing robots, buildings and tanks) and they have their siege tyrant terminators who all have rocket launchers strapped to their back.
Night Lords on the other hand are very much melee focused and play around scaring the enemy into running away (which is actually a lot more useful than it sounds). They also have their unique night raptors who will usually be kitted out with their legion specific weapons 🤗
Also, if your group still just really don’t want to play marines, Mechanicum, 2 different flavours of Guard, Custodes and Demons also exist as factions 🤗
