Good god no way is this fella a budding buddy rich.. this lad is better imo. Buddy Rich was just full of rudiments and ego..this fella is fresher and much better..
Pretty clear to me that both Krupa and Rich at your age would have had their asses handed to them on a paper plate. You've already streched into Dannie Richmond, Maz Roach, and Chico Hamilton territory with your solos and you're not even 21 yet. I don't think people even realize your technical prowess has already put you into a league of your own. I'm just blessed to be able to witness it all.
In the 70's when I first started playing. My Dad told me to listen to Big Band music. I was like ... Really ? The Drummer wears a suit. How can he move his arms ? Just looking at the pictures on those albums turned me off. It took years of playing Drums until I actually heard that stuff because I got hold of a VHS tape of Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich in 1989 and figured out what those Drummers were doing. Remember. Back in the 70's you learned Drums by only listening and reading music. There were no music channels on TV except Midnight Special and Don Krishners Rock Concert late Saturday nights after midnight. We didn't have Video Tapes but had an 8mm reel to reel machine. But the films I had were homemade Porno. 1960's Stag Films. Anyway, there is now so much Drumming Videos in the palm of your hand that you can learn quickly and precisely with discipline and every day practice. Just like my guitar player friends always have their guitar everywhere they go. I carried my sticks everywhere and still do today. My knees are numb and accustomed to the constant parradiddles since 1973 when I got my first pair of Ludwig drum sticks. Six years later in 1979 my Dad bought me my Brand new Greenish Pearlish color 1979 Slingerland 5 piece set with concert toms- (no bottom heads or hardware). And my wise ass brother got me a Rush Farewell to Kings cassette. I stuck with learning what Bonham was doing in 1977 after hearing the opening song on "The Song Remains The Same"double live album. This Greyson dude is the best since Buddy Rich for sure
As someone who just watched this probably 15 times in a row, I think it has something to do with your ear hearing something specific within the music and wanted to watch it again to try and tell just what in the world he did to produce that sound.
@Topjunkie I checked out the set list for the Billy Howerdel tour they have a couple of shows listed where Greyson has some time set aside for a drum solo, that should be interesting, maybe someone will posta youtube video of it.
Man, holy cow, a drummer here myself of 5 years, you're unbelievably talented brother, one of the best Jazz Drummers I have ever seen by far. Keep up the good work.
The first time I saw this I was blown away as a kid I’d watch Tom and jerry religiously and straight up when I started playing drums I had no idea someone could play this cause damn son you ripped it up
This is almost criminal ! No one should be allowed to play as good as this young man ! You’re honoring all the great drummers on this planet… And we know that Buddy Rich is watching over you..!
Good to see newer Generations that are down with good big band jazz from the 30s forties and fifties. The gene Krupa's Max Roach Buddy Rich Louie bellson and Ed Shaughnessy. It's even better to see drummers more influenced by the music of yesteryears then a lot of this music of today. The great jazz music they used in those old school Warner Brothers/MGM cartoons is phenomenal. I certainly grew up on these types of cartoon and that wonderful music. It's just great seeing a young adult around his age that enjoys real fundamental music. But then there's other jazz drummers bill bruford and his Earthworks & Ginger Baker. Any of Frank Zappa's drummers they knew how to get down like Ralph Humphrey Ansley Dunbar Chester Thompson the great Terry Bozzio. The 3 best jazz drummers I've ever seen even better than Buddy Rich or Gene KRUPA'S of the world. that's Vinnie colaiuta Steve gadd and Tony Williams. I just don't think you can get better than those three drummers
Man i hate the youtubers playing instruments to show off that are everywhere online but you man, you are a different kind, I love your drumming It seems to me that you are not showing off your abilities but instead trying to communicate what drums is for you, and that is wonderful. I am a musician myself and I have to say that you really are amazing
Idk the jazz joke but it's there? When I was a kid I had a lesson from a music teacher about how Tom and Jerry don't talk but the music tells you what's happening. I wish I had a fraction of the talent here.
I believe the music in those Tom and Jerry toons was done by Paul Smith. He performed for decades at The Velvet Turtle restaurant in Redondo Beach, CA.
I love this.you got great quality sense of taste for good music. Nd class. Just loved that conga video you did omg love that . Takes alot of energy and endurance being a good drummer...oh yes and discipline nd prActice prActice prActice!
You’re looking at the best jazz player since Buddy passed.
I agree so skilled
This young man is out of this world, I have listened and watched the best and he is up there.
Good god no way is this fella a budding buddy rich.. this lad is better imo.
Buddy Rich was just full of rudiments and ego..this fella is fresher and much better..
Definitely 🤜🏽🤛🏽👏🏼👏🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🔥🖤

Such a joy to watch/hear this young man play his ass off every time. 🤘🏽🤘🏽
You are an amazing talent.
That speed on the right hand for those 3 notes on the hats!
I’m sure Buddy would be highly impressed by this young man
Holy crap. I'm not a drummer, and not a huge fan of jazz, but I could watch this lad play all day long. Stick control, hand speed are so impressive
Hey S R - well if that’s the case, you may need to have a Resus. Kit to hand after this: ruclips.net/video/AwPCbmTXsiA/видео.html Enjoy… 😎

This Greyson dude is the best since Buddy Rich for sure
How come I always end up watching his streams 3 or 4 times in a row?
As someone who just watched this probably 15 times in a row, I think it has something to do with your ear hearing something specific within the music and wanted to watch it again to try and tell just what in the world he did to produce that sound.
