4:33 This Bootleg uses OST from an SNES game of a Toon Disney Show known as "Bonkers", and this "Level 1" music is actually the Boss Music of that game
09:26 Everytime you get visibly uncomfortable with something it just makes me imagine what Kirby's reaction would be. 12:23 Looks like the spirit of Jontron has overtaken you. 15:32 DDR as in Dance Dance Revolution. The game that Picadance was ripping off.
1. The DDR is a reference to Dance Dance Revolution, because the game is literally just a really bad rip off of Dance Dance Revolution. 2. Moemon is still going very strong. A good number of streamers play the game regularly because it's literally just Pokemon with a bunch of admittedly REALLY good custom character sprite designs replacing the Pokemon. Honestly from what I've watched of other people playing the games it really isn't that bad either. There's a handful of sussy designs, but mostly I just found it fun seeing what they came up with for each Pokemon.
Okay. Long story short about Pokémon Black, it’s an old ghost story/ Creepypasta that there exists, just like Sonic.EXE, a Pokémon game where it is haunted and creepy stuff happen in game. This one in particular is the one about how in the Kanto region where Lavender town is located, there is the theme song that when shifted over to the GameBoy caused children to die or get severe seizures sending them to the hospital. This is called Lavender Town Syndrome. It is especially described to be Lavender town, because this is the first time you encounter ghost type Pokémon and the only place to catch them. There are more ghost stories around Pokémon games, like Lost Silver, Hypno’s Lullaby, EeEee, etc. But they are all fictional
DDR is Dance Dance Revolution, the game that they copied for the music mini-game with the arrows. He's freaking out because they were so blatant with their theft that they didn't even bother to change the default high score names.
You know you say you hate Pokemon music because it's "sharp". However I think the real issue is the compression and instruments for 8bit-32bit games making it sound a bit more aggressive, if you ever move onto Gen 6, perhaps you'll like the music more since 3ds music isn't compressed, therefore sounds way more smooth and less sharp than say GBA music. Granted we still have plenty of weeks to go before you even make a decision of moving on to Gen 6, but suggestion to actually have the music on since it wouldn't be "sharp" on newer systems
My first pokemon game was XD on the gamecube, which had an uncompressed orchestra for the soundtrack. When my second game was Platinum, I definitely felt similar to how Kyle feels.
I don't like Pokemon music too even in the newer games really. There are only about 5 Pokemon musics in total that I would want to listen to. I just don't like that style. It feels like, too busy to me? Aside from the beginning of the song there's never a melody that to grab onto. It all just goes from one to another, and like, I can't whistle along to any pokemon song. It just sounds messy to me
16:00 Oh yeah, so the original version of Lavender Town's theme sounds like... nightmare fuel. Anyway, there was a conspiracy theory/creepypasta saying that the original song displayed frequencies that only kids could hear that would make them depressed, or commit "game over". Not sure if it's the same creepypasta, but there was also one where you would kill the pokemon instead of making them faint, and after every battle, there was a gravestone.
5:14 Jon is referencing vaudeville, a form of theater that was popular up until the popularization of TV. It was basically a live variety show that had dancers, comedians, magicians and even strippers. It was where a lot of famous Hollywood comedy legends god their start such as the referenced 3 Stooges, Abbot and Costello, and the Marx Brothers. 7:31 the names of the Pokémon in the Pokémon Stadium game is actually their names in Japanese.
Honestly, Moemon is a fan game that works really well in the modern day. We like cute, chibi anime girls, not to mention them in Pokémon outfits. I mean, it could also inspire some cute Pokémon cosplays in the future!
The N64 Pokémon names _do_ make sense if you consider what the original Japanese names are. Beedrill? His Japanese name is スピアー, which is pronounced Spia. Diglett? ディグダ "Diguda", which could be poorly translated into Dagut. The closest thing to "Raif" seems to be Vileplume, who's called ラフレシア, or Rafureshia. Koffing is ドガース, which is pronounced "Dogasu", thus Dogas.
You can top the Bootlegs off with the mother of all Bootlegs... the Soulja Boy Console! Next Video should be "Soulja Boy Makes A Video Game Console - JonTron"
Classic line for any animation videos. 3:59 This too. 8:48 Is true about he say Is Lavender Town have a creepy music. Bootlegs never leaves still everywhere.
I believe the armored lizard "abomination" as well as the caterpillars in the first game are from SD Valis/Syd of Valis. Which is interesting since it's a Genesis game. I imagine porting the sprites isn't super hard, but I still find it surprising they didn't grab something from another SNES game. I think the tree's arm is from Actraiser, and the monkey looks familiar but I can't place it. With bootlegs like that it's always fun trying to work out where all the individual assets came from. DDR is Dance Dance Revolution, basically the first big rhythm game. Also "Lavender Town Syndrome" was a popular urban legend around that time, basically that there was an early first print of the game where the Lavender Town music had some kind of binaural effect that caused sickness or death in anyone that heard it. It honestly kind of baffles me that anyone believed it, considering what a big deal the anime seizure incident was. We would have heard about it, since it actually happened with the anime and we did!
The version where pokemon die and the version of lavender town that caused all those kids to get seizures. This is actually a combination of two different Pokemon Creepypastas. The Seizures are from a creepypasta known as Lavender Town Syndrome, where allegedly the original release of Gen 1 Pokemon had a different set of tones to Lavender Town's music that just resonated right to cause health problems to those sensitive to it. (This has all been thoroughly debunked, it is not real, no matter however much people insist that it is! It is not real, it has never been real, shut up!) The version where Pokemon die, Or Pokemon Black (Not the real one), features a 4th starter "Ghost". Ghost only has one move, Curse. Curse auto kills pokemon, and can even kill trainers. it ultimately ends with you beating the Elite four, then wandering the world as an old man in a world empty except for gravestones, where Ghost finally comes back to kill you. EDIT: Sorry, misremembered. Lavender Town Syndrome allegedly caused Suicides, not seizures. Again, Completely not true!
Ahhh another classic jontron vid one of my other favorites i believe this video came out around the tine when pokemon x and y was out at that time frame
9:19 I am man enough to admit this... While looking for some retro games, I found a copy of Moemon and bought it. Purely because the idea of owning this was really funny and despite how weird it is, the sprite work is pretty cool. Anyway, I havent played more than the first battle with your starter, and Im considering burning it .
So I feel like that ending needs explanation, there was a creepypasta sometime ago about a bootleg copy of Pokemon called Pokemon Black Version, this was years before Pokemon Black had actually been released, and in it instead of fainting all of the Pokemon would die. You only received one Pokemon which was the Ghost of Lavender Town and it only had one move death. It would instantly kill any Pokemon you were fighting and you basically went through the game as normal. Once you had beaten the game, you would see a screen of your character as an old man sitting by a gravestone and all of the Pokemon you killed along your journey would come back and try to kill you and you would end up dying as a result at the end of the game. Obviously since then people have made ROM hacks of this version but as for the supposed original copy it was never confirmed to be real. John is also referencing Lavender Town Syndrome, which is apparently a recorded incidents according to Legend, but because it was never reported on it most people believe this to be a hoax
This is my personell favorite (Next to the Scissor Man) Mainly becouse it's Pokémon. "Abomination" I think the Thing on the Pokémon Jade Cover is the Forest God from the Movie "Princess Mononoke".
Jon got his hacked Roms mixed up, Lavender Town Syndrome wasn’t a hack, it was a real technical issue in the PocketMonsters Red (Japanese version of Pokémon Red), where the binaural theme of Lavender town, caused children 7-10 to have seizures and in some cases attempt to/commit s*icide, it was changed in the NA release and now the original is universally called “Pokémon Strangled Red,” however the cartridge shown is supposed to be Pokémon: Buried Alive, a mod that makes your only pokemon a corpse called “Buried Alive,” which is unbeatable and will always kill the rivals pokemon, and after beating the Elite 4, Buried alive challenges you, but seeing as it Was your only Pokemon, your player character is forced to battle Him/herself, to which you’ll always lose, and a still image is shown of the corpse holding you’re player characters’ bloody dead body like a puppet, and a voice is heard saying “We’ve been here all along, and we’re so very lonely.”
You need to do reactions for some Silva Hound songs on youtube, same person who originally made the angle dust song before they made the video. Silva also has great songs for other Hazbin hotel characters. Royal Flush (for Husker), Radio Play (for Radio Demon) and a couple more.
i think its funny that i actually played the pokemon diamond bootleg game on my first gameboy color, but back then i just thought its was a totally different game, since it didnt have any name on it. I feel like im part of history here :)
my fav has to be pokemon ASH. as it plays the series. and u can mess up the game by not following it. like u can completely miss out on butterfree if u forgot to get a caterpie.
I don't understand why people freak out over moemon. I think it is adorable, and well made. Looking at it, the games are still there with the project still going strong. As a pixel artist, I have to respect the craft.
Huh, well this was a interesting Video, very interesting Pokémon Bootlegs, Say, there’s some Pokémon Fan-Games that could be worth your time, there are some good ones out there, if you’re interested? Anyway, Have you done JonTron’s Top List Videos yet? Also, do you know of joshscorcher or ElectricDragon505?
That last game was Pokemon Black... the rom hack of gen 1 that's basically just a playable creepypasta. The story is just gen 1 but every pokemon that faints is dead. Like DEAD dead. I think at the end all the dead pokemon come back and kill you. Or maybe it's the one with the stupid white hand zombie? Idk gen 1 creepypastas all blur together to me.
Pokémon Creepy Black is the name of this one. Basically, a dude finds a bootleg copy of Pokémon red on his property and plays it. The game plays like normal with a few differences, notable the lavender town ghost is a useable Pokémon and is a starter and it’s only move is curse. Curse is an instant kill move, where in which the screen turns black for a second and a distorted cry the opposing Pokémon is heard and they’re gone. If it’s a trainer battle you have the option to kill the trainer and a gravestone will replace them in the overworld. Because of this the protagonist steamrolled the game, only to find the ending is also different. The game cuts to ten or so years into the future with the main character being an old man in the Pokémon tower, then a battle is started between the elderly trainer and ghost. The old man can only use struggle until ghost uses curse on the old man, screen turns black and the narrators save is deleted. I don’t remember what the narrator does with cartridge afterwards, but I believe he just lost it one day, then wrote the story after not being able to find it.
Did you ever react to the video where Jon plays the Anti-Drug games because I remember you were asking in one of your videos where the What! meme came from that's the video he said it in.
I used to own one very similar to the first game but it was a plug and play. It was so weird and hard to play. But the enemies were all pokemon not the monkeys

I got a reaction request for ya, if you're willing. You should react to the Super Mario Bros Z Reboot episodes since episode 3 is about to release. They're uploaded by Mark Haynes. I think they will make for a great reaction. Hopefully you check them out!
If your ever looking for another content creator to react to i would you suggest you watch caddicarus he does stuff like this as like a spiritual successor to jontrons video game reviews
@theduckgoesmoo, though I am not finished with the video yet; but I wanted to tell you this. Of the bootleg Pokemon games that has been made, there is actually one that was removed by the Pokemon developers. It was a 3D one where you actually fill your Pokedex by shooting Pokemon with guns.

Has JonTron's playthrough of "Takeshi's Challenge" been covered on this channel yet? Because I've been looking forward to seeing that reaction!
JonTron reviewing Castlevania 64 and some his early gaming review videos still hold up
Honestly, Moemon is a fan game that works really well in the modern day. We like cute, chibi anime girls, not to mention them in Pokémon outfits.

So Moemon still exists and there are now versions of it for Platinum and FireRed but with Pokémon up to Gen 6-7 and with Mega evolutions.
A true test of dedication!
Way too much passion
This was actually the first Jontron video I have ever watched.
Moemon still exists there’s like a dozen different versions for some reason.
First off, DDR is Dance Dance Revolution. Second, JonTron's Starcade series needs to be on your JonTron schedule. Love your stuff!
Honestly one of my favorite JonTron episodes lol!
Pikachu does walk on two legs, but it runs on all fours

Oh my god I heard about that
Dogas is what I assume was supposed to be Dogars, Koffing's Japanese name.
Actually, the "WHAT?! WHAT THE FUCK?!" comes from the Anti-Drug Games episode. Recommend seeing that before the PSA one (if you haven't already).
Since we're working our way backwards, I'll still pull for Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, a jontron classic.
Classic line for any animation videos. 3:59 This too. 8:48 Is true about he say Is Lavender Town have a creepy music. Bootlegs never leaves still everywhere.

Maybe?

If this is the end of Jontron’s Bootlegs then you need to watch his Starcade series. It will help you with your lack of Star Wars.
Before StarCade, there is one video before “episode 1” being “StarWars Konnect”
16:13 also that’s a reference to a creepypasta
