    I had a 69 SS el caminos in the early 70's. I loved that car and wish I had it right now. I love the Caprice station wagon. I drive a 96 caprice and won't give it up. Good luck with the restoration and keep us posted

    This a bit humorous to me. Back close to 20 yrs ago my uncle found me a 73 el Camino (nothing special) that had swivel bucket seats. We went to Fargo ND to get it. But he never told me how we were going to get it home 90 miles from Fargo. He told me when we got there..... The car was on a trailer and the trailer was connected to a John Deere Model R tractor. Thats right he bought the model R. I had to drive it 90 miles home..... If you know anything about these tractors they dont go very fast and the rain slowed us down even more. Thats one I'll never forget.

    Dezzy, you got me to sub. But, I am curious if you have broken down the TAG on her? She has a 12 bolt and some SS badges, but nice to find out if original or clone. It seems to me its missing a front fender emblem or holes where the emblems should be, but I could be wrong. Regardless, she is a beauty SS or not.

    Not sure its a real SS need to see the cowl tag and see if its a real hugger orange car. That would prove its a real SS. There are no SS396 badges on either of the fenders.

      Repainted. That’s why it’s dull 👍🏾

    • @davidparker8135
      @davidparker8135 4 года назад

      Starting in 1969, the SS396 option cannot be confirmed by the cowl tag. The only way we can verify SS396 is with the build sheet. However, options such as fuel return line back to the fuel tank can help to confirm the SS396. The fuel return line is an indicator of a big block engine. There are other options that can help as well. I think the brake vacuum booster was different as well. Also, the El Camino SS396 came in other colors other than orange. I have a '69 El Camino SS396 with the stock color of Lime Frost or Sea Foam Green. If I keep mine I will probably go with this stock color. Might take a little getting used to though. LOL. Good luck with the restoration, Dezzy.

    • @natew8882
      @natew8882 3 года назад

      I do not believe it is a true Super Sport. It's missing the big block steering shaft and the holes in the front fenders are for Malibu trim. Technically I believe this El Camino is a custom. That is the name that Chevrolet gave it. Custom. It would be neat to see a photo of the cowl tag. But I believe this car is someone's attempt at cloning an SS. A 3/8 fuel line does not verify Super Sport or 396 as the L48 350 also had a 3/8 fuel line. I could go on and on with more. Regardless with the original engine missing and no build sheet he can build this car anyway he wants and in some respects a well-built clone is a car that can be driven hard versus numbers matching guys are far more cautious because their car has turned into an investment.

    • @Old_Tyme_Racing
      @Old_Tyme_Racing 4 года назад +1

      @@DezzysSpeedShop 4spd and automatic cars had two different floor pans only 4spds have the hump and hole for the shifter. That brake pedal is definitely automatic only and 4spds had a much smaller pedal width wise in them because of the clutch pedal. I would look at the paint code on the cowl tag to see what the original color was. Nice to see a young guy interested in the old muscle cars and good luck luck to you with it.
