- At about 1:30 P.M. on 19 March 2017, a force of more than 15 soldiers seized 8-year-old Sufian Abu Hitah, who was out on the street barefoot, looking for a lost toy. Two soldiers dragged him to the al-Harika neighborhood and took him into several homes, demanding he identify children who had thrown stones and a Molotov cocktail at the Kiryat Arba settlement. Over an hour later, several women managed to extricate the boy and return him to his mother. Two local residents, including B’Tselem volunteer May Da’na, captured the incident on video.

في ظهيرة يوم 19.3.17، نحو الساعة 13:30، قبضت مجموعة من 15 جنديًا وأكثر على سفيان أبو حتة (8 أعوام)، وكان قد خرج من بيته حافيًا ليبحث عن لعبة ضاعت منه. أمسك جنديّان به، وجرّه الجنود معًا إلى حارة الحريقة وهم يطالبونه بأن يؤشّر على أولاد كانوا قد رشقوا حجارة وقذفوا زجاجة حارقة نحو مستوطنة كريات أربع. في نهاية الأمر، بعد مضيّ أكثر من ساعة، نجح عدد من النساء في تخليص سفيان أبو حتة من أيدي الجنود وإعادته إلى أمَه. مي دعنا، المتطوعة في بتسيلم، وأحد سكّان الحيّ، وثّقا ما جرى في شريط فيديو.

As a teenager (40+ yrs ago) I saw something that sickened me. A young Palestinian boy was shot dead by an Israeli soldier, his crime was throwing a stone at an Israeli tank. Israel's response when questioned was "Dont throw stones and you won't get shot". Imagine every child in Northern Ireland killed for throwing stones at British armoured vehicles.
