Maybe that’s why 1.19 is so lacking. They’ve probably been working on this the whole time. Even though 1.19 is a little disappointing, I’m going to keep my head up when 1.20 comes around
In terms of development time, I'd assume this is actually pretty easy to do. Just go through every player in the Java Edition accounts database, generate them a licence key for Win10 edition, and attach it to their now *required* Microsoft account. The hate between Java and bedrock players is far to much but it is fair, most of the game differences are built upon personal preference and things like that which cause all of the rampaging, although there are two things on each that everyone can agree suck, for bedrock it's the marketplace(specifically mine coins and all that), and for Java it's the dang lack of multiplayer without setting up a whole like clone of hypixel or smt(I did actually find a way to fix this but it requires a 3rd party application called Hamachi which is basically a vpn that multiple people can join, so that enables singleplayer lan joining for people across the world, it's super cool, and I have tested it it's sick) those are the problems that pretty much everyone can agree on, the problem with joining the two games together is everything else. PVP is one thing that a lot of us don't agree on, being a Java player myself I prefer Java pvp, it feels really nice and when using most mob farms the swipe is a life saver, however many bedrock players would disagree, im not sure why because I can't see their argument but im sure they have one. The off-hand is one that im pretty sure we can all agree is super useful, some bedrock players may say it's overpowered but im not sure. The performance of Bedrock is light years ahead(yes I know it's a distance measurement) of Java's, however java has far less bugs, and the ones it does have the community can almost always find a way to exploit, whereas with bedrock they're all just kind annoying. It's the small things that just build up overtime, all in all it depends on which things are more important for you, or in other words your playstyle. also please don't judge me for this huge wall of text, when I get into something I'll just ramble on for ages.
As a bedrock player I don't understand why the two versions are so different first of all, and why most java players practically bully us for playing an "inferior version" but besides that, I would love to have pretty much all java exclusive features in bedrock (and vice versa) because the offhand in java is way better than the bedrock version where all you can hold is a shield or rockets, I don't know why the sweeping edge enchantment (is that the one I'm thinking of idk) is exclusively in java but it is and that sucks, it seems extremely useful
@@Irish_Enderman actually the swipe is something you can do without enchantments, you just have to wait for the cooldown, and also not crit attack, sweeping edge just improves it. I'm not entirely sure how though tbh

I feel that this is in relation to Microsoft pushing Windows 11 and their eco system. I can foresee being able to buy Minecraft on Mojang's website no longer an option, possibly by redirecting to the Microsoft store. I've owned Minecraft since 1.1-1.2 and have had many fun adventures in it but my most fun was through modpacks, which are community supported and in most cases free. As of 2019, as early as I can recall/remember, some modders started to put up Patreons and prices for their mods for Minecraft Java. This included texture packs. I managed to take advantage of the migration of receiving Minecraft free on Windows 10 with my Microsoft account. I have both versions but a while ago stopped using Windows and switched over to ChromeOS Flex (because of Linux). The issue is that Bedrock edition in Linux is only available via a 3rd party GitHub download and uses the mobile launcher and not the Bedrock PC Launcher... I really hope that bedrock will come to Linux and Mac. Since bedrock is supposed to be the edition for all platforms, it's weird that the only platforms available for Linux are java.

@@MaebhsUrbanity Yes, it is for sure a TON of work. I am really thankful for the GitHub dev that spearheaded the project but just frustrates me that there wasn't a Bedrock version for Linux from the start. The easiest option of course would be for Minecraft on Steam and use Proton to convert it, a lot of other games have had success with doing that. Do I have to wait longer before it works, I already reinstalled the launcher, deleted folders, I already have Bedrock in the launcher and It works perfectly fine.
Java and Bedrock are probably never being truly merged because Bedrock makes way too much money and losing even a little bit of Java's unique features would outrage the Java community, same if Bedrock's trident killers were removed.

Does this mean that they could be adding Minecraft Bedrock in the future for Mac & Linux devices? Those platforms support Java edition but not Bedrock edition, so if prices do change in the future, players on those platforms would only get one game for the price of two.

I think this would have posed almost no loss to 1.19's development time, but it would have taken a while convincing management / Microsoft.

@@Irish_Enderman yeah, both versions are equal. They are just jealous they don't have money to buy both

That was more convenient later when my other family members wanted to play together and Bedrock edition was the only option because some people play on console.

I have both versions but a while ago stopped using Windows and switched over to ChromeOS Flex (because of Linux). The issue is that Bedrock edition in Linux is only available via a 3rd party GitHub download and uses the mobile launcher and not the Bedrock PC Launcher... Basically, I wasted the $26 to buy Bedrock on PC since this uses the $7 Google Play purchase instead (with a different MC account). I mostly play Java anyways (MultiMC is awesome), but sucks when I hop on Bedrock since it is just the Mobile version scaled up with missing features because of the way it was released (shaders and skins are broken). Maybe this will be fixed?? I hope that maybe MultiMC and other 3rd parties (like Lunar and Badlion) also bundle in some sort of Bedrock launcher.
I really hope that bedrock will come to Linux and Mac. Since bedrock is supposed to be the edition for all platforms, it's weird that the only platforms available for Linux are java.
Look as someone who's looked a bit into the backend of minecraft-for-linux. It is some serious work getting the android version working, getting windows compatibility layer version working would also be quite some work, MultiMC can't just plop in a bedrock launcher.
Though I am considering working on getting minecraft-for-linux up to date with the latest versions and maybe even getting skins working a bit better.
@@MaebhsUrbanity Yes, it is for sure a TON of work. I am really thankful for the GitHub dev that spearheaded the project but just frustrates me that there wasn't a Bedrock version for Linux from the start. Now that they are combining launchers on Windows, I could see it making devs behind 3rd party launchers implementing it (at least on Windows). The easiest option of course would be for Minecraft on Steam and use Proton to convert it, a lot of other games have had success with doing that. It would be nice if Mojang/Microsoft could help 3rd party launchers add Bedrock to their launchers but I don't really see that happening... Good luck on your developments with skins, I'll look forward to seeing them!
