Wow, that fin assembly in the exhaust! What a mess. Did you find any stray parts in the rest of the piping? Like, up to the air cooler and other connections? The studs for the turbo mount. How did you know they were mounted by threads and not a splined shaft? I'm sure your buddy was happy with the work you did.
Just glad we didn't have to take down the exhaust. Kevin called me today telling me his girlfriend following him back to the yard complained about the oil droplets on her car. I told him he'll just have to get a load going down the highway for a 100 miles or so to burn that out.
That turbo has been failing and making noise for awhile I'm guessing you can hear it rattle when the compressor wheel contacts the housing usually long before it fails
Pity they don't build trucks like this nowadays nearly 30 years and still working brilliant video
Thanks for watching Sean.
The turbine in the y pipe is pretty crazy. Nice job !

The turbine wheel in the Y pipe isn't a factory option )

I haven't had one go out on me, I don't know.
call area diesel service i got my turbo there last fall it was a Borg Warner less than a thousand bucks
That's about what Kevin paid at Scheid Diesel in Effingham. Thanks for watching Tim.
171702 is the turbo that can increase performance and fuel economy. I’d check into it. It’s a Borg Warner. Be careful of counterfeits.
Hello, after you have installed the air cooler, you have any issues with air cooler , air is leaking or any cracks-?
No issues, owner said it has more power than before.
@GordonRobertsonDIY thank you for the answer.
