One of the most brutal demolition jobs that I've seen from a teenager in the women's game for a long time. Just an astonishing level of performance throughout.
This was the match that convinced me Emma was a major champion in waiting. The way she absolutely brutalised and massacred a highly experienced and gritty player who took out the world number one in straight sets not but a month prior in Tokyo was absolutely unprecedented and breathtaking. I hadn’t seen such a clean demolition on the WTA since Prime Serena😳
I was worried about this match-up beforehand, and I was absolutely astonished by how it played out. Absolute demolition job of a rock-solid player. I knew Emma had lots of potential, but wow was this performance a head-turner!
Wow, I have become entranced by Emma since she exploded into the US open, both her play on court and the maturity and poise she shows in her interviews. Way to go Emma.
Love how Raducanu just absolutely took apart one of the most physically draining opponents on the WTA tour. Sorribes Tormo didn't know what day of the week it was out there at times I swear.
@@Theemptythroneistaken Got to remember, tennis has a funny scoring system and there were a few games that went to deuce hence the set/match score shows the match looks like an aniallation but it's all about winning the key points. You can win a match 6-0 6-0 and still only score 24 more points than your opponent. She will be tough to beat though going forward and not a 1 trick pony as she has the right attitude and mentality.
If anyone had sold tickets to this match beforehand on the basis of "come see a qualifier totally demolish an existing star", would they have been believed? That was so close to being 6-0, 6-0
'Did you know -- then?' asked Harry. 'Did I know that I had just met the most dangerous dark Wizard of all time?' said Dumbledore. 'No, I had no idea that he was to grow up to be what he is.' (Harry Potter and the half blood Prince, page 258)
With this win, Emma reaches the top 20, and if she wins the whole tournament, which I hope and think she will, she'll be in the first 10. i also expect her to be among the first 3 women players by the end of next year. Go, Emma!!! 👍💪🏆🤸♀️
@@martin3203 Oh, that's right. Wow! My bad! Thanks. Well, although the first three words of my comment are wrong then, and the rest of it still stands. 😆😁
@@theUroshman I wish it was so easy and well. 🙂 If ER wins the final she gets 1000 ranking points and could theoretically be ranked 12. But all women currently ranked 13-21 are in the draw, so depending on how deep they go, ER could end up being ranked 13-14-15ish. Still, from 366 in April to say 13 in October, that’s not too shabby.
@@martin3203 You are absolutely right. It also depends on the other girls (13-21) in the draw, but if we take them out of the equation for a moment, and if ER wins here, she would have 3558 points, which is more than what Naomi Osaka has (3326 points), who is No 9 at this point. However, 13-15 wouldn't be too shabby, at all. 😄
@@theUroshman Except that Osaka is currently ranked 12, hence ER "could theoretically be ranked 12". I suppose that Kvitova, currently ranked 11 with 3735 points, is about to drop her 215 ranking points from the 2019 China Open the coming Monday, but suppose that ER stops her in the 3rd round, she (Kvitova) will still gain 65 points and be at 3585. If that is correctly understood, ER could not reach rank 11. And I don't think Kenin, Sakkari, and Bencic are about to drop old ranking points (I could be wrong), so top 10 for ER is not right around the corner. (Kremlin Cup, Transylvania Open, and Linz could change the picture, but I have not done the math.) On the other hand, what is the worse scenario here? Sasnovich defeating ER later today seems entirely impossible. But if ER then meets Halep in round 3 and is defeated, she will have 2623 points Monday, meaning she will not break into top 20. In any case, she is an exciting player and an enchanting person, an incredible boost to the WTA, and I think you are right that she eventually will be all the way up there among the very best.
@@brandonaldaymachuse6669 Osaka's currently a mental basket case, Serena's 40 and her body's letting her down and is Kenin currently that much better than Bencic or Sakkari?

@@brandonaldaymachuse6669 A fair point, but Emma's a smart young lady and probably thinks along similar lines. She knows she still has these people to beat and she won't be complacent. All we can say is "Great start" and wish her well for the rest of her career.
I love Tormo too, she CAN do everything. Def could have been the next heroine but she's not the type of a player who's gonna keep her form. She also looks like a player who'll get injured a lot.
1:59 "That's what I love about this player... She can do everything" - commentator. SST gets bageled in the first set. What are these commentators? You know, either comment on the shots or something tangible. Who would miss that valley on the WTA?
Poor Tormo - probably felt that she'd lucked into a soft draw! This was Emma's breakthrough victory - to dismantle a solid pro like that signalled her arrival amongst the elite.
Problem was! Tormo being Spanish grew up playing on CLAY like RAFA, most spanish courts were clay. U can see it with her constant balloon shots, but US hard Courts are much faster and Emma loves hitting the fast flat ball, so she had so much time to pick her flat hard shots against slow ballon clay shots coming at her. Its also why RAFA was unbeatable at French Open for 10 years, the Spanish grow up on Clay courts.🧐
Emma’s game today does not even come close to the speed, pace & authority in ball striking that she displayed.. her game on that day was top ten quality.. today she plays like a ranking of 100.. what happened?
Wow. A very competitive and close match. Could have gone either way. Emma needs to up her overall game in the next round, if she wishes to advance any further. Best of luck, Emma.
emma's high level game comes out if her opponent is hitting hard..see her opponent didnt even got a game point.. Uo finals a bit boring for LF has committed to.much error
Now I've seen this a bit more the Spanish players style is just not suited to hard courts. A lot of top spin, high over the net just doesn't kick on a hard court. It gives players like Emma too much time. Emma's strokes are noticeably flatter, moving through the court quicker.
Very annoying female commentator lavishing praise on Sorribes Tormo, even after Raducanu began taking her apart. It was obvious after 2 games who was the better player and who was going to win.
Heard of this thing called immigration? I mean, if the British people don't want her I'm sure there are countries that'll roll out the red carpet for her.
US Open, show more matches of Emma, there are so great to watch, just gold
