Which method is your favorite?!
Tech With Tim I would like freelancing :D
Tutoring. I'm a teacher and I think this is something I can do easily.
Definitely Freelancing!
Freelancing,
today i complete my first project and get paid.
@techwithtim Which website do you use to do freelancing pls tell!
Anyone wanna buy a "hello, world"?
print("hello, world") No!
😂
check or cash
Let's trade "hello world"
Let's make it a currency
LOL
I'm genuinely convinced this guy taps our search histories
👀 quiet please
????
A practice of successful RUclips personalities is to research popular search queries and make a video to meet that demand. I imagine there are a lot of new programmers trying to find a way to make some money online right now.
It's actually the RUclips algorithm doing it.
@@TechWithTim I’m ok with that, though, cause sometimes, you’re the only one on RUclips talking about a particular subject I’m searching for. lol
Talking about number 5 I really would like to share this..
We have large agricultural irrigation systems that work totally manually, if the machine shut down for any reason you won't be able to catch it and they get to lose both water and gasoline and of course they both have their cost...
I said to them hey, I will attach a small embedded circuit board to your machine and whenever something happens you will get notified with an SMS, like if it stopped, if the water stopped for any reason you can catch it up real quick and I did it and everyone was haopy.
sounds like a college thesis project would do the job, have you asked some local university computer science students?
and then you woke up. Jk, good on you :)
Believe me.. Lorenzo Miguel Agustin it wasn't that simple, the work meant to suite for areas where no Internet at all, I needed to consider a lot of things like alternative IoT methods, energy scavenging and many other things, I had to handle nearly everything since Microcontroller programming upto circuits design and lots and lots of things
money = 0
millionaire = False
If money >= 1000000:
millionaire = True
while millionaire != True:
money += 10
print(str(money))
alternatively the chad non-bool-equality condition:
while (!millionaire) print("money");
that's a crime
@@prodharrypote nah, thats capitalism
while !millionare: is more efficient

I'm in a web dev class in college right now, and we have a group project where we team up with 2 local businesses and revamp/create them a website, and theres often permanent employment opportunities if you do a good job. Wish me luck haha
We're wondering how you're doing..?
Please do tell how it went
I also really want to know how this went
How did it go?
@@homerlol9058 Well, my group ended up doing pretty much nothing, but I got an A on the project and clas. I think one of the guys talked with one of the companies and may have worked after, but i was over it all. But, I just graduated college with a computer science degree, and I'm now doing an internship in telecomms. I'm really enjoying it and am hoping I can turn it into a full time thing, but we will see in 10 weeks lmao. I can say I am being treated very well, still learning tons, and actually did my first bit of actual coding for them today. Very optimistic for my future
When you think you found a 'good' guy on RUclips, a better one shows up. First time to see you, and I feel blessed enough.
@Isaiah Its okay, he was just appreciating 😂
Dot Dynaus whay
I'm disabled by illness at the moment, so have been learning programming and got quite good. What an amazing video thank you Tim!
Im so bae at coding
@@ComedyCringetonCompilation I am too. But keep working at it 👍
You'll get there :)
Didn’t even realise this was a Tech with Tim video🔥 this man is the gift that keeps on giving
Thanks for the advice Tim! I have been running my own coding RUclips channel for half a year now, and I will definitely be trying to grow my presence online with it!
im already unknowingly doing like 2 of these just out of passion...now i've got some good advice to move forward with a clearer goal in mind. This is gonna be great! Thanks a lot Tim!
F to everyone who had to learn programming via internet because their schools don't/didn't teach that stuff
Lol I was taught JSP Servlets in college 😂
@@MubashirAR me too LOL

Yep that's me, my school does no CS or even basic programming so I taught myself when I was about 12/13
Always looking forward to a Tech With Tim video!
This video was actually encouraging because it made me realize I didn't need to know *everything* in order to be useful in the field. I'll find a niche and tunnel in for a few months.
That's the spirit, how are you managing?
I was waiting for this for a while, i needed this video long ago to be able to afford new stuff for programming

Introverts: nothing to see here boys
Social skills are skills just like any other and need to developed!
introverts dont get a pass. they need to make an effort to socialize. no one likes a shy introvert
@@theendurance just because you weren't born with that skill doesn't mean you can't get it
@Eric Avelino Its not a "skill". All humans are social animals. We crave attention from others and want to be apart of a community. Thats literally what makes us human. Some people lack those social skills and think that gives them a pass to be shy and quiet. No one wants someone who cant talk to people and make friends.

My fears with freelancing are always not knowing how much to charge (fear of high-balling it and people looking at me like I'm trying to scam them), and what happens if I can't deliver? In my own projects I'm constantly finding roadblocks, and sometimes they take me a long time to get through. If I'm doing some gig for money and this happens, what could I do?
I’ll say this advice to myself(I have the same problem): have a healthy return policy and admit that you have to learn more. Try and charge only when the product is finished, although in any business is good practice to give some 10-20% upfront(some go up to even 50%) to motivate the person. You can also try and include in the final price additional costs such as paying “the Indian guy” to do part of your job or your whole job(the client shouldn’t know this) or try to at least not lose money if you don’t want to raise the prices, is not nice to realize how you didn’t finish the job. But if u see it as a business( which kinda is) you’ll see that most businesses run on debt in the first year, we all have to start somewhere and we all will fail miserably at first, but this is how we learn to walk or do anything else.
This is probably a very common fear, I have it too. I started by providing what I could easily create so was almost certain to be able to deliver.
Just tell them in the contract that if you cant deliver then they wont be charged. Also just be honest with them. If you run into a roadblock that you know will push the schedule, just tell them.
Most of the time in your own projects I assume that it takes a long time to solve a problem the way you want it to be solved. When you're delivering, always head for the simplest solution, even if it's not efficient.
Kudos to Tim for making these kinds of educative videos. It's not all about learning code, but also how to apply what we learn to benefit us in our daily lives.❤️ Love this channel
Thanks for realistic advice. Had to check you weren’t an ad and then watched your video. I realized I was already doing about half what you recommend but maybe I just haven’t been marketing myself aggressively enough. Again, thanks for a serious yet laid-back and realistic message.
Love your vids tim, I started out coding in junior year of high school and am still continuing like you!
That last one actually reminded me of one of my favorite achievements. My freshman of college, I took a class about freedoms and civil societies. There was one project we had comparing how countries ranked on certain aspects (eg police reliability, government works for the people, etc). All the data came from a website that was totally not biased. Anyways I found a way to download everything into an excel sheet and transformed it to be much easier to use. That's it, just converted things to percentiles, let you sort by whichever aspect, and put them all next to each other. When my teacher saw what I did she said if I share it with the class she'll boost my grade for the entire course by a whole letter.
Once your hair is centered in the chair you look like have long hair.

Kind of reminds me of the Flatwoods Monster.
why are you just so willing to share things. the world needs people like you.
This is the best video on getting into programming ive seen in a while. This Timmy Tech (you)tuber just tossed my troubles toward the toilet
This is a very well intended video people don’t have jobs and I think this has helped many people :)
it is always good to watch your videos, i am still a beginner and most of my general programming knowled came from you channel thanks for your help
U exude wisdom. The right person to listen to at a time like this when am learning programming and thinking of how I can convert that knowledge to money. Thanks so much Tim
Thanks Tim! Really helpful especially in this difficult time :')
I have a coding job. It's just that the habits you gain from taking the journey stay at the end of the journey. I use to watch videos like this when I had no job and now I still watch them. And as a software engineer at a good company I say I still need to be doing all of these free lance things so I make even more money in my off time.
This is literally the first video I've seen with possible job suggestions that actually seem doable and that's not an exaggeration. You've earned a long term subscriber sir.
Any advice on how to market a JavaScript artificial intelligence library that I built?
Best video I have seen over a long time. Great options for software Engineers. Thanks buddy. I am a software engineer and now I am thinking to expand my horizons too.
I watched several videos of you and they really helpful. The way you are speaking, it is very clear and pleasure to listen. Thank You!

I hit it at 99% the speed of light!!!
Mine is 5. I help schools automate their billing system. Someone pays at the bank and the information is recorded and retrieve automatically into the schools billing system. No secretary or clerk to handle that.
So secretaries are out of job thanks to you?
I try to do stuff like that, my mum runs a distillery and she's always doing calculations where there's a lot of room for error, so I wrote a program to automate it. My school had a pretty janky inventory management system so I partially automated it with a python script. all of these examples were not hard to do, even my bad programming skills were enough so pretty much anyone can help people out like that.
School billing system, what kind of a school costs money?
The tutoring one I hadn't thought of, thank you!
most honest video i saw in a while and straight to the point, most other videos would make it appear as if it was so easy to start earning,
thanks!
The best tech youtuber nice job like always :)
My favourite is the tutoring on Fiverr . Thanks for calling attention to this again. I will complete setting my account on fiverr and upwork to start tutoring. Apart from that I also plan to open a RUclips Channel for tutoring as well
No fiverr will just shut you down randomly
My favorite is posting your work online on a platform for online presence.
Thanks Tim
Honest, concise, actionable. Great advice and great video. Thank you!
Looks like Tim is hearting❤️ comments !
goodluck to us aspired coders!!!
I was doubting about uploading YT videos before watching this, thanks Tim!
This is the first video I've watched on your channel and man, You just earned a new subscriber. Keep it up!
I am Twelve and this actually gave me an idea to work on more python and java projects
Here is me, pushing 40, dipping my toes into coding, listening to career advise from a person half my age 😆😆😆
Your margin is a target for disruption. High priced programmers are a target for disruption. IBM went to India to hire low cost programmers. But beyond that tools will be developed to automated repetitious and I guess other programming tasks. It's inevitable. I'm not half your age.
@BLVCK METXL It's inevitable the marketplace (i.e., businesses) will try to replace high cost programmers with lower cost solutions. check out what gpt-3 is doing (code generation). what amazon is doing (no code, serverless) You can replace at least some of the task programmers perform with automation. Or you can just replace high priced programmers (US) with low cost programmers (India). Does this explaination satisfy you?
@@SportsIncorporated So um I'm just going to say "a person half my age" is Tim
@@SportsIncorporated Too much ego makes you NOT LISTEN to what other ppl say. Because you have something to say and no matter what you are going to say it.
@blvckmetxl it's a bot
This vid earned u an INSTANT subscriber!! I'm gonna try freelancing and probably helping out local (Jamaican) businesses first!!! But eventually I'd LOVE to tutor and share knowledge and experience on a platform and then finally, create a product.
Thanks Tim! You made me realize I can use the knowledge I have to teach other people programming, but I don't know if youtube is promising and even on fiver I don't get clients for my lessons.
Nice video. I'm 58 and I started learning to code last year...
Working on a big project that hopefullly will be online next year.
Wow
Great! Which language are you using?
Hi there Tim, thanks for the super helpful videos you post. I was wondering if it is possible for you to create a series on building a python program to trade stocks.
That would be really cool.
Well, I'm impressed! Five actually executable ideas for people to use coding skills to make money NOW. Really great video. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your ideas. I found this channel just this week and I'm beginning to watch your videos. They are dope!

I created my Fiverr Account yesterday and today there's a student who needs a 2d jump and run :D
Without your video that didn't happen.
Yeah your name please
Honestly, you are the only person that explained carefully "EASY" side hustles that every one can make. I really appreciate it and keep the good wori😉
Heyyy you da best TIM keep it up! love from Turkey!
Hi Tim, for helping small businesses, would it be practical to code the website or just use a service like Square Space? Although the latter seems more reasonable, it also defeats the purpose of hiring you to do it right?
First ;)
thank you tim for making this video
Really good, It's awesome because you're really giving good advices, not trying to sell a course or something like that. Well done.
Thank you for truly helping so many people! You seem to have a very organized mind and are a great teacher. Would like to see you write books, especially for kids!
When you mention freelancing, a couple thousand people start offering their services making it nearly impossible to actually gain some money for yourself
Yeah, it's called competition. Get used to it.
You think before this this video there weren't many freelancers out there? It's a free market, there'll be always competition...
@@ngogercin No, obviously there were many freelancers before this video but I was just saying that because Tim has a lot of subscribers there will be many people wanting to do python for freelancing at the same time
@@ngogercin it's a fucking dumb way to look at the world. You'll always have competition, and if the market gets flooded, you just have to be the best. Simple.
Nah, I created my account yesterday and today there is a student who needs a 2d jump and run and that makes me 25€ richer :D
when you say you were already learning programming at 15 and I've just begun at 28 ...
I wonder if I'm late about that ...
I'm 15 and I've been programming for 2 years
It's never late mate
I started at 100😂
I was 2 and now i am 136 years old
Dont worry im 28 too and starting learning again. Age doesnt matter at all
Love your description. Thanks for naming the methods in the description
Great advice thank you Tim!
First frame thought the chair was hair. Coming in looking like Lord Farquaad.
Tim, very good suggestions. I actually just finished a Data analytics boot camp at the University of Miami. It was heavily based on Python. I really enjoyed it. Im 48 and have a career, but i took the class because i always wanted to learn to code and the data analytics portion would be beneficial to my job as a Director in my organization. As a python Newbie, what would you suggest i focus on to build my skillset in the data analytics side of python and I am also interested in webscraping.
Tim? Answering this would help me too :)
Great video 2 mate!
Wow, I really like your methods and your counseling... thank you very much! This has helped me focus myself a bit more and see many other opportunities I couldn't see before.
Wow time your channel has the best simplified programming contents ever
I'm thinking that this is an answer to age and other forms of discrimination. People who chose employees often leave value on the table due to their preconceived notions. People who just want a job done are often more practical and focus on the job, instead of the provider's personality, age, etc...
I love tutoring but it’s so difficult to find students especially now when the country is suffering an economical crisis
Very true, I usually end up doing it for free
But now that kids are at home, shouldn’t be easier to find moms willing to have their kids speak with a remote teacher?
This is a very informative video. My favorite methods are starting a business and helping local businesses. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on RUclips.
+1 nice tips, especially the last point which utilizes the PAR statement (Problem, Action, Result) !!
Interesting and useful advice 😁
I can’t get over how this entire presentation seems to live in the uncanny valley 🤭 Are you real? I’m doubting my sanity about now 😳
For me, I started at grade 12 which is my second year of doing coding and started for $50 for a simple android apps about plants which is really worth it and now my last client is a 2D android game which I have no experience and I just really grap it. I learned through the process which is really exciting and after 1 month the game is done! and it pays me $110.
Can u plz tell me where do you get clients?
Very nice video man! Very helpful especially the freelance part that was very helpful. Thank you!!
Hi Tim, spot-on as always!
Hi Tim, how is python used commercially other than using frameworks like django/how do I practice python for jobs/what would a client ask for if you are good at python?
scripting
Data science, machine learning and a lot of other stuff
web crawling with selenium, very important!!
I don't know about now, but a lot of Google used to run on python.
Data analysis/ data science is a big one
I am assisting comapanies in india and i just find clients of my dad
#5.Small biz (esp.Mom n Pop) that I already frequent. Some techs ( not I though) aren’t good at “selling”. Cold calling, approaching biz, facing hangups, brush-offs scare people. #5 takes nerve but showing passion to create a solution for them, businesses can be converted. Thx for exclnt vid, Tim
Awesome video Tim, thanks 👍
Could you do more videos about freelancer jobs with Python? It would help me a lot, becauase I wanna start freelancing.
Overall great advice and vid. Especially on freelancing and making a channel to get your name out there. The thing is we are not all the same - I’m sure you’re a much better coder then maybe 90 percent of developers starting out so I don’t think you can really say “if I can do it you can do it” when some may need to be tutored and not be doing the tutoring. Yet assuming everyone is at the same skill level - then there would be no demand for tutors.
Thank you so much Tim for your advice. I actually had about two of the ideas you shared in mind. God bless you. I'm really inspired by your vast knowledge and experience. 👌👍
Hey Tim, thank you, this is great content
How are web applications like Canva built, I mean the drag and drop part. I have been learning Flask and was wondering whether recreating something like this would be feasible. As a personal project.
Html5 drag n' drop api is what you are looking for.
I love this video.
I left my job to take a few months to learn NodeJS, Flutter, and improve my Django/DRF skills, but I'd rather do my own thing instead of finding a normal job.
I'll try a mix of tutoring/freelancing (I have this channel and my own blog to "share my knowledge" as you said), but I would like what do you think about creating a Saas. Maybe that would be even a good idea for a video.
Good advice from this pro. Thanks 😊
Easily one of the best videos I've seen about this topic.
hey, can you make a video about programming levels and what level is needed for working as a programmer? like knowing variable types and loops and arrays are level 1, for example. I really like to learn how to program in a level based system so I can manage my learning goals. I think it will be a really fun video to watch too
Yeah i would like to know that too
that's level 0
Interesting idea I can give a simple layout:
Lvl 1: Data types (int, str, list etc)
Lvl 2: Variables and basic functions like print
Lvl 3: Conditional Statements and loops
Lvl 4: User defined functions
As per me first learn basics i.e, variables, data types, conditions, loops, functions and classes.
Then select a field which u like e.g web dev., game dev etc and start working on in (take a course of that) and move on with that. You will get your way.
@@CodeWithSwastik All the things you mentionned are like level -1
I'd love to start Freelancing, but I'm not confident with my programming skills.
sameeeee
Same
Lol you need to be confident in the right place to offer your service much more than skills you can learn in a few months. And dont do fiverr, find a decent place e.g. specifically for coding
You must practise a lot in order to become freelancer. For example, challenge yourself to build a successful application...
you're awesome Tim. love it!
check all the channels and website and this guy is so underrated that you don't need anything else.
Hey Tim! Thanks for inspiring me with every one of your videos :) How should i build my Fiverr profile if I dont have a lot of projects i can properly showcase? Any tips would be appreciated! How long did it take you to get your first paying client through fiverr? Love from India❤️
You can make a website showcasing all the projects you have done!
1:56 finishing someone's homework lol.
Loved the honesty man! Just getting into learning the basics of Python.
Inspirational !! Good job man !!
Now the question is, where do we get that t-shirt?

When you want to do all this but you have the social skills of a carrot.
Grow up and develop social skills or live a shit life 🤷
I hear you and I feel like that's my struggle too. I've been watching a few of these videos today, and saw one where the guy was going on fiverr and buying services. He showed some of the email interactions he had and they were amazingly bad. Like stuff I would never say, and I bet you wouldn't either. That gave me some hope, knowing I could at least do better than that. If they can do it, you and I can too!
it's unbelievable how young kids run circles around you with business ideas and sheer ingenuity.....
Very realistic and humble. Thank you!
