    NOW I understand why the production quality of your videos is so high! I worked in the television industry for 28 years and really appreciate well-produced videos like yours.

    Very inspiring! I especially like the idea of the snow brush used as a sliding extender. For those that don't have a lathe to turn those beautiful oak legs, one might substitute round aluminum tubing.

      Yes. The tripod wer have at work are somekind of fiberglass or something very strong and round but you're right alluminium is easier to find.

    I love how you have some oak boards lying around, I have to look for the nice pine boards in my shop. The tripod looks fantastic! Can’t wait to see the other videos!

      LOL Yes this oak was from Matthias. His father cut it with his sawmill. When I visited his shop Matthias gave me some oak, I wanted to do something special with Mr Wnadell's wood, so I made this tripod, at least the legs :))

    It's amazing what you can do with dead tree carcass.

    While I've always admired your desire to mill and fabricate each and every piece of your creations, there are occasional times when it just doesn't make any sense. Making dowels is at the top of that list.

    • @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker
      @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker  6 лет назад +1

      I didn't wanted to go out to buy some dowels. And also I wanted to make something special with Mathias' father oak. So now I see Mr Wandel's oak that he cut himself each day. Priceless :))

    300 Drill press
    700 Table saw
    300 Miter saw
    100 Hand drill
    400 Belt sanders two kinds
    500 Lathe
    200 Mortise
    10 Snow brush
    40 Fancy measuring device
    300 Router
    40 Clamps (5) three kinds-sizes good ones
    350 Band saw
    15 Rasp
    10 Wood file
    40 Hand plane
    60 Several drills for drill press
    30 Hand square
    30 Measuring tape
    350 Disk sander
    40 Polisher for fine sanding
    30 Spoke shave
    I make this rather conservative list. Basically, it totals in the neighborhood of $3,000. But that is not for high quality tools.
    In summary, the woodpecker has a high end shop. Small wonder why such a tripod would not be cheap to purchase.

      LOL not at all. I was keeping this video for a special occasion, and today was the special occasion. I added something at the end of the French version and I wanted a really nice video to add our annoncement. Just to say this was recorded in January of 2017 over a year ago, at least they're snow on the grtound :))

      This was made before the bandsaw. In January 2017 :) Ok I'm a bit behind in my posting but at least on this video I had snow outside, not this year snow, but still snow :))

    Nice build, but you know, I could give you a very good price on a Vinten or Sachtler tripod with a good head... :-D

    • @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker
      @LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker  6 лет назад +2

      Probably but not as fun as building it. And on top I was able to use the oak from Matthias's father for something half decent to look at :)

      I thought you recognized the wood that I was using ;) Yes the oak come from their land and it's him and his father that turned the trees into planks. He was unable to carry the wood from Sault Saint-Marie to his house and he wanted to give it away to someone who would use it to something else than fire wood... And every body needs a wooden tripod :)
