Should England Actually be Favorites to WIN Euro 2024?

  • The English national team hasn’t won a major international trophy since their world cup victory back in 1966, yet the general pubic has never misses an opportunity to pick England as potential tournament favorites, and the 2024 Euros has proven no different. As of March 2024, England and France are the current betting co-favorites to win the Euros at odds of +350. A curious allocation by bookmakers considering the only country on this list to have never actually won the Euros... is England. Which ultimately begs the question, should England actually be favorites to win the Euros?

Who is saying England are the favourites ? Because it's not something being said in England. I think the consensus is that France and Germany are ahead of us.

Why in the God's name would Germany be ahead of England this time around? They've been catastrophic for years.

@LG1204 Don't be soft. Germany are going to bring it, and they are at home.

Favourites are based on tournament results. England tend to get far and fail when it matters, so we get a high rating because we go far.
Regardless…we can’t win because Southgate is our coach and he picks his favourites, not the best

I think Southgate gets wayyyy too much criticism, but I would agree that if they don’t reach their potential it’ll likely be his fault 😞

His record would say otherwise imo, but saying that I know he definitely hasn't maximised the talent we have.

England did win the Euros in 2022.
England men's team or their fans have never considered them to be favourites to win the World Cup.
Yanks talking about football is like a fish trying to explain how to fly.

This was just a list of names. It’s a bit like if you back every horse in a race you’ll win some money but less than you lose.
Your endless list did include Cole Palmer who since you made this video has truly established himself as an other wordly genius. Second name on the team sheet after Bellingham.
Play Maguire and We won’t win it. I was eight years old when I was confident we would win Mexico 70 World Cup.
The reticent negative English always have a weird brainstorm before a tournament and delude ourselves we’ll win it

Harry Kane missed a penalty. If England meets France again and Harry misses another penalty then, yeah, just like 2022.
