10 years ago yesterday we lost the last original cast member of this great series. To see this video again when I really got teary all over again. RIPH Pernell..
Yes, I completely and totally agree...Bonanza is sooo much more than a TV show and I think more and more people are realizing that. It has inspired me to soaring heights that I never could have reached alone. Long live the Ponderosa Cartwrights!!
Thank you for seeing that! Despite him leaving the show, Pernell was amazing and a superior actor. Who else could have brought our Adam to life when he didn't even like his job? Pernell Roberts, that's who! Thank you for watching and appreciating the sentiment behind the video.
Thanks for doing what the powers that were should have .... your series gave substance and a meaning to the departure instead of the disrespectful way he passed into oblivion. Now I like to think they forever reunited on the Ponderosa in the sky. R I P Cartwright family!!
You are the sweetest, my dear, and your comment meant so much. I worked so hard on this series over the course of many weeks last year and I always so appreciate support from my viewers. I enjoy reading and hearing what you think. Thank you so much for your thoughts and I agree all to completion! R.I.P Cartwright Family, indeed! Thank you again and have a wonderful Thanksgiving(if you live in the U.S!)!
Margaret Collin I agree. Pernell put so much into character Adam; he deserved more and so did Adam. At least his name was mentioned several times throughout the remaining of the series
The Adam we know would have come back after a time; even if Pernell didn’t. Maybe not permanently, but he would have come back. Again, beautiful and moving video well done ❤️
Thank you for watching, Shirley! I made this video series a long time ago and am always pleased to see it enjoyed. I am glad you enjoyed the story. Bonanza Forever!
R I P Cartwright family!! I felt lonely when i finished watching all the season and episode. i wanted to watch more. I love the cartwright family very much ! I cried after i finished them. but i have to move on.
Yes, the Cartwright family are so wonderful and it was sad for me to watch the last episode too, at least the first time around. You never have to say goodbye to them though or move on because the episodes are there forever to watch. Just start the series over again! :) They will always live on in our hearts, as long as we keep them there, alive and well. Thank you for watching!
Wish I could go back and be home this would be on TV. dad and mom would be both here and I wouldn't take for granted all the things I did growing up so fast.
Beautiful and very moving. I would have liked for the words to be up longer. Many I could not read fast enough. But I do thank you for making these; oh if Adam had only come back. Wonder if Pernell really knew how much he was loved and missed on Bonanza ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much, your sweet comments mean a lot! PR was so amazing and the way the Show dropped Adam was disrespectful to both the actor and the character, in my humble opinion. I wanted to bring all points of view to bear in my Forever series of videos. Thanks again, I'm so glad you enjoyed this!
It made me think of when I left home due to a dumb decision.Never thought it would be for ever though.Lovely video.RIP the Bonanza boys, including Candy.
It saddens me to see anything on Adam leaving. I have seen parts 3 and 4 though and I could tell they were touching. However I could not get much of the story as the words were not up nearly long enough for me to read everything (sorry) But it was touching what I did understand and thank you for the tribute to Adam. I appreciate Pernell for what he gave of himself during his time (not long enough for us)
I agree that Pernell wasn't with us near as long as he should have been. I realize these videos are not my best and I really appreciate that you took the time to comment. My videomaking skills were rough and still developing when I made this video series but I left them up because I thought a few people might enjoy them. Thank you for giving them a chance and letting me know what you thought. :) Bonanza forever more!
The pleasure was all mine, Susan! This video took a couple of weeks to put together and much sweat went into it but it was soo worth the effort in the end. Knowing that I entertained you is the best feeling, thank YOU for watching and taking the time to comment!
Beautiful tribute, but did Pernell Roberts deserve it? I understand he left the show because he thought he was too good for it - One of his statements was "Why would a son in his 30's always have to do what his Father says?" Because the Ponderosa was a business and Ben was the boss, that's why. I do love the music of this presentation and it did bring tears to my eyes - Adam was my favorite. Pernell Roberts went on to Trapper John, but Bonanza had much more warmth and will always be superior to Trapper.
I appreciate you watching this video and you made some well-put points too. This tribute is geared toward Adam instead of PR so much. Adam loved his family dearly and he deserves our loyalty. As for PR, I was puzzled for a long time about why he would leave but I've come to realize that to him, Adam Cartwright was just a job and he felt trapped. I enjoyed your opinions though, it's good to have diversified views and I am glad that the Man-in-black is your favorite!
Unfortunately, the series' producers never gave Adam/Pernell a decent departure episode. The last episode he appeared in was "Dead and Gone" in Season 6 but there was no mention of him leaving. Thank you for watching! I hope you liked my take on a possible departure scenario for Adam. :)
@@misskitty4adam154 They never gave Pernell a decent departure episode or a decent sendoff of any kind. On his last day he walked off the lot with his loyal stand-in Betty Endicott. They crossed the street and had dinner together, and that was it.
@@mickyalberta3484 Wow, I didn't know that particular information but it doesn't surprise me. The show treated him like crap for most of its run and didn't appreciate his talent. Admittedly, he probably wasn't the easiest person to work with but they didn't even try. The first time David Dortort interviewed him for the part of "Adam Cartwright", he told Pernell that he'd have to wear a toupee! I always thought that was so rude and tactless. There are much better ways of bringing up such a sensitive subject. Those two got off to a bad start and it got worse. Thank you for commenting and have a wonderful evening!😉💓
@@misskitty4adam154 Funny. We can't totally trust the media or perhaps the people that quote them incorrectly. My sources say Dortort had no idea Adam wore a toupee. Roberts walked into his office the first week of shooting, surprised him by removing it and said he'd prefer to work without it. Dortort refused, saying he looked 15 years older without it. I think he was right in that. Roberts balded early and wore a toupee in several shows he did just prior to Bonanza. You can also see him partly bald in other earlier shows. He needed that toupee...Adam needed to be perfect and was totally a god with it. I also read that the toupees were uncomfortable to wear, especially under their hats in hot weather. Too bad...suffer for your art, guys!
@@mickyalberta3484Good or bad Pernell took his own decisions. But this video isn't to honored Pernell but Adam Cartwright. No. David Dortort never did an episode to farewell Pernell because he didn't deserve to get it. He left Bonanza without thinking about anyone else but himself. But that was Pernell Roberts. And we missed Adam Cartwright, the son, the brother, the friend.
This episode was so heartbreaking 💔. But I really loved this episode and Adam!

This made me cry more than the others. Bonanza was certainly more than just a TV show.

Thank you so much for making these!!
Celia Sasic I just wish Pernell had known that
He did. He just wanted to make it a more realistic portrayal of the times. He was right - even st 12 years of age, I knew the show could be better.
... wonderful tribute to a wonderful man ...

I agree ... Think the character of Adam was very close to Pernell Roberts character ... He has convincingly "play" him ...
Pernell/Adam, will always have a special place in my heart. I miss him so deeply. Rest in peace my love.

Andrea Wiseman thanks, I’ll try that
Way toooo many onions...all 4 parts beaitiful!! And great music by Michael W. Smith...

Where is the show Hoss died in
Muito lindo seria tão bom se ele voltasse a viver novamente
It was really beautiful but so sad 😞 Just like he had really died not just left the show
2:07 He not is Adam

I'm sorry, but Pernell was right! The show had so much more potential, but the writers and producers kept putting out the same old inane stories.
Australia but thankyou anyway. I wish you and yours the same 🙄
Oops, so sorry about that! Thanks for your patience, that is so cool that you live in Australia! Bonanza fans everywhere around the globe...
