    True pure focus is the wildest feeling, I just went into flow state when working on a modeling project for Accounting, I didn’t look at my phone or even the time on my computer once. I started at 7pm and finished at 11Pm and when I was done it felt like I was only working for 5 minutes.

    More on the delayed gratification: A good strategy is just to get bored.
    Imagine you get no internet for a whole day. It is something you wake up knowing you can't do anything about. You will read that book, clean your room, wash the dishes. Anything will get more interesting than just doing nothing.
    You procrastinate because your life is too interesting. If you make it a little more boring, you will do what you must. That "delayed" gratification is not "delayed" anymore if it is the only one that exists in your life.

      A variation of this is time blocking an activity. That's when you fully commit to doing the ONE THING you want to do for a specific block of time. You do this ONE THING & nothing else.
      Say you want to write a book. You close the door, tell everyone not to disturb you, get rid of all electronics (or if using a comp, use an app to keep you off internet).
      Then you sit there for an hour (or whatever) doing nothing but writing. If there is resistance, sit there doing nothing.
      Because you've eliminated everything else, you'll eventually get BORED of doing nothing & start writing.
      Do this every day & you'll make progress.

    When I sit down to write, I leave my phone in another room. Personally, I find music distracting when writing, however, I light a candle. I only burn a candle while writing, so it triggers my mind that it’s time write. I also have a firm “no Internet” rule while writing. If I need to look something up, I make a note of it in a separate notebook I keep on my desk, use brackets in my manuscript where I’ll need the information and continue writing.

    This is that much more important with individual with ADHD like myself. Our focus tank is small to begin with, though we can "hyper focus" at times. Monkey ×2 tbh

    • @wadepatton2433
      @wadepatton2433 4 года назад +4

      @Karan For me: Become extra interested in it (very difficult with bad instructor), or get into competition with another student of your approximate level (for the best grade/scores-keep it fun), get a tutor that makes it more interesting than the instructor (perhaps offers better insights and alternative approaches), or wait until the night before the exam! But that last one only works if you can perform under pressure like I do. Pressure gives me focus, it's not good for everybody. Perhaps an accountability partner to "quiz you along". You have to WANT it to make any of these work and even when you find something that works this time, it may not work next time. Be flexible. Check out "How to ADHD" channel for more good stuff.

    • @3self
      @3self 4 года назад +2

      @Karan i would first do research on adhd, get to know your condition ( and your mind) and understand it better ( links : ruclips.net/video/_tpB-B8BXk0/видео.html www.additudemag.com/understanding-adhd-hyperfocus/ ,) Then what I did is changed my internal and external environment so I get in my flow ( www.verywellmind.com/what-is-flow-2794768 ,) for ex, I removed my ps4 from my room, added a 4×8 white board (external) because of this I'm more productive and chances of me getting into hyper focus increases . Make systems to help you out ( organization system, second brain system, reward systems etc) and for me meditation helped me the most, but like the individual above said , for us adhders the level of interest will determine how focused we can be. You can get in to hyper focus in reading bc your into it. But not math, so what I would do is change your perception on matH, I used hate math but when I realize how important and amazing it is, my interest level when up and now I love math(learning in general) , the universal language. Anyway I'm still figuring out what work for me, every mind is different, btw I'm not on medication

    To tame the Monkey Mind I use a To Do sheet, a Good Ideas sheet, and Calendar sheet in an Excel workbook.
    I no longer worry about appointments or tasks due because everything is calendared.
    I capture ideas on either the Good Ideas sheet or an existing Project sheet (I have many projects in various stages) so they are put out of my mind until later when _I choose to review and marinate these ideas._
    At the end of the day, I review my calendar to mark completions and / or revise my tasks for the near future.
    If I can, I try to reward myself for completing tasks I really don't want to do, such as yard work.

    For people that have a struggle starting or get anxious when you do stuff, this is a message for you, the moments that you are not doing or you feel that you are not doing enough, just, breath and do nothing, as the actor de Captain America said in one interview(yes, I do not remember his name), just shhhh, don't think, let it go, those moments of stress are just not worth it :)
    (For more information about this look for Captain America, what would you have said to your younger self? You will find the video about that, I enjoyed it)

    This video/article certainly can do wonders for productivity and I really like it. Unfortunately it misses the core concept of flow. Flow is in a sense instant gratification as it in an autotelic experience. Meaning the thing you're doing is enjoyable in itself. If you reach flow state, you don't need to remove yourself from distractions because you lose interest in them. While it helps to have no distractions to increase the chance of flow, the main thing people should be doing is match the challenge with their skill. Something is too hard or too vague? break the task down. Too easy? Do something extra to give it more flair!
    The whole concept of flow is to make every aspect of life more enjoyable and is described as the optimal experience. It can happen in sports, work, art, cooking and is even documented in war (weirdly enough).
    Distractions (such as the internal distractions) can also induce flow. The key is to get into flow with things that matter, and I think that's an important distinction to make as most of this video is geared toward removing other potential flow-sources. Which I ironically did not do and now I am writing this nitpicky comment.

    This is a nice video on focus and concentration but those are very different from accessing a true flow state.

    really thank you for the information i will give my own example of the flow state hi my name is Phillip i have took a good look in to the matter of the flow state the flow state is where you take the time to work hard on a task that is difficult of your relaxed and have a clear mind in my idea of it the flow state it is know to kick in about 10-15 mins if you do not have any distractions in what your doing something that you can to do to make it speed up is to meditate for aleast 20 mins before going to bed or find a way to stop all distractions by using items like ear plugs or power off your phone to stop it from ringing if you want to try and enter the flow state at will well you cant the flow state tho its like a temporarily 6 sense if you need to know there are 5 senses and you can stay in the flow state up to 5-6 hours if your a master at it and you go into it often because have master the way of focus well that all i got to say.

    For me avoiding external distraction is very easy rather than internal distraction. They are first level of a video game and a last level of a video game.

      @Shadow The Judgehog -- I say this with respect to you: Don't expect a RUclips commenter to answer your question; go get the answer yourself by searching for _meditation._

    Yes, take those “distractions” out of your life and become a robot so you can work better. This is made for a production line worker or someone sitting at their desk logging numbers into a form; menial tasks we now have deemed way easier to just use machines and programmes instead.
    Throughout my life, I had to battle every single portion of learning and working because I have ADHD. And having lived like this for years, you get an idea of how to keep attention, because you can see the line between your “flow state” and normal day so much more clearly.
    It’s not the human mind that’s the problem, it’s that the tasks are just too boring for humans to do now.
