    Your name came up today at the ranch where I board my horse in San Antonio Tlayacapan, Mexico. I was one of your first passengers when I met you at the boat ramp near Hollywood, Florida. I talked Captain John Kansman into giving you a tow out to test your sub. My name is Diana Lee Nicole Chamberlin Jareo, and I remember you fondly.

      You clearly have no idea who Karl is as a person especially as a scientist. It is a deep shame to read negative comments like this! I went down on a 13 hour dive with Karl at 2,200 feet and I would do it again without hesitation. Have you ever been on a dive with him? If you did, I don’t think you would feel this way towards him!

      @@arianebaltodano6592 A few years back I was on a team for a scavenger hunt and we commissioned Karl to take a picture while on a sub, we didn't go on the trip ourselves but we commissioned a photo. It turned out several other teams commissioned him as well and when they complained that he gave the same picture to all the teams that commissioned him (as this could be perceived as team collaboration, which was banned from the scavenger hunt) he turned very nasty gloating that he had scammed all our teams and called us naive. He also then tried to appease people by saying he'd take the money we gave him to donate to a charity of our teams choosing instead and we contacted the charity and he didn't pull through. He might be nice to in person customers but he's rotten if you ask for a commissioned photo.

    • @Wrublos212
      @Wrublos212 Год назад

      @@subkarl I always thought that window crack in a sub is a death sentence. Good to know that I was wrong and windows are not only in binary state - in one piece or shattered. You said about Window and it's decreasing strength over time. There is a need to replace it periodically after some hours underwater? Or it's only occurring when hull is getting twisted and slowly causing window fatigue?

    • @subkarl
      @subkarl Год назад +4

      @@Wrublos212 - The answers to your questions depend on the shape of the window. In the case of the cracked windows on C-BUG- they were flat discs and I had taken the sub so deep it was entering the deformation stage and the windows were not being pressed flat anymore, the flanges behind them had warped. It was that experience that made me decide to take my 2nd sub less deep than I had orignally designed it for. To be certified, windows need to be replaced every 10 or 20 years, depending on the shape. However, the #1 thing that destroys a window is UV light and the best practice is to keep sunlight from hitting them whenever possible.
