Thing is you can put all these songs on a play list in the same order, i've tried and they are great. But only The genius that is Weatherall (RiP) can make them sound so natural. For him it looked easy, like he's just in his kitchen making his breakfast listening to some tunes. But he's like the Diego Maradona of DJ's. The greatest of all time.
I had the pleasure of working with Andrew on and off since the mid-90s. Not only an immense talent but a genuinely decent chap with one of the best sense of humour. Was a joy to spend time with this guy. Will be sorely missed.
@Paul Nicholson..you were lucky then. As a music lover with vastly eclectic taste but caught up in just the right time with acid house etc. The world feels like its missing a much bigger musical part than most people would ever actually notice. Wish I’d had the pleasure to meet him. Instead I will just enjoy one of his unique sets 😊
So here I am. Chilling at my desk. Its 05.00am. I am looking out of the window of my study and I can see Canary Wharf, the SHard, HSBC building and a whole load of other Falick towers and lights in the distance. I soak up this set with ease. I feel the future, I feel the present I feel myself drifting in and out of places of nostalgia. I think back to the first time I heard Andrew Weatherall at the Cream in 1997. I think of aaaaaaaall the amazing music he has played created and touched. I have been sat here since 02.30am. I anticipate the last hour of his set like the thirst for a big Friday night out.
