Todd Rundgren is a musical genius in my books and I don't even have any of his albums. Excellent producer, songwriter, a really respected GREAT guitarist plus much more. He did produce the first Sparks album and actually helped them start their career (and he appears in The Sparks Brothers documentary) Not a big fan of Hall and Oates but of course I enjoyed their hit singles and Hall is a great singer of course. It's sad when a musician isn't professional on stage and should try and handle sound issues privately.
and todd produced the truly WILD OUT TO LUNCH" WAR BABIES" for Hall and Oates 1974. Glad u caught these legends young blood. check out TODD 1972=89 and the late 77=79 HNO records and the MAGNIFICENT robert fripp duet LP Sacred Songs by DH. a lot to dig into! enjoyed your review and weather report.
Interesting review. I came here after listening to your John Oates concert review. Daryl Hall’s voice cannot achieve a fraction of what he used to be able to do and I certainly don’t fault him for that, but he has gotten quite crotchety and in denial as he has gotten older and my suspicion is that he takes out his frustration about his own aging voice on the poor sound guy. I have lost a little respect for him recently. Rather than expressing gratitude for the great success he has had in life, he seems bitter and cranky.
Hey thanks for sharing your thoughts - you're lucky they didn't cancel due to rain. Our H&O concert in 2019 was cut after one song, due to a quick thunderstorm. Got a refund, had to wait till 2021 to see them come back to my area. Of course I couldn't get the same seats that I had originally....but it was great to see/hear them. The band is top notch!
@@samstjohn1994 Yes definitely worth seeing H&O live. The first concert I mentioned would've been awesome as they had had a rest from the South American tour, and D looked fresh & ready. Second concert was good, but D was doing the ranting at the sound guy. I guess you just tune that crap out (I'm sure the band does!) and appreciate the music.
I suddenly had some free time so I thought I would catch up on some videos…too bad about the rain..that sucks..Would have loved to see Daryl Hall..My wife loves him and we are both big Hall and Oates fan..too bad he was in diva mode..thanks for the review..👍❤glen
Really good concert review. Sounds like a good show but the rain probably made it a long evening. Outdoor shows can be great but they can sometimes be a little nerve wracking worrying about the weather. I’ve had mostly good luck but sat in the rain or heat a few times. Can’t say I’m a big fan of either act but I’m sure it would still be an enjoyable show. Take care Sam
I'm definitely not a die hard but it was hard to pass up when he was only 12 min down the road. I avoid outdoor shows or lawn tickets for the most part! Thanks Gary!
You’re probably best off watching his podcast, where you’re guaranteed the best dry seat in the house. Hall is a bit jaded by the industry though. Would have liked to see Todd. Was in Colorado a few years ago, and went to Red Rocks to see a show. Great venue, but it rained cats and dogs. Kind of put a “damper” on things 😉😉. Cheers.
The last concert I saw before the lockdown in 2020was Daryl Hall & John Oates in an outdoor park in Dublin. It was very enjoyable , and a dry night, but Daryl was a bit moody that night also, and John Oates was more engaging with the audience . Todd Rundgren actually produced their earliest recorded albums , so he has been a good friend to them since that time . There is a 2 CD of Daryl Hall's solo recordings on the 1st CD and the 2nd CD of " Live from Daryl's House " with various guests featured . Glad you enjoyed the show Sam, and unfortunately outdoor concerts can suffer from bad weather sometimes.
I've never seen Todd, but I'm a fan both as a producer and musician. I've come around to Hall & Oates' music over the years. Glad you saw that show despite the weather conditions
Daryl Hall did the exact same thing a couple years ago when I saw Hall and Oates in Concert! So he must be a complainer or diva..Lol. Overall the show was pretty good, and brought back great memories for me! Thanks for sharing your experience Sam! Take care, Allan
Always look forward to these concert reviews, especially when I'm familiar with the artists. Sounds like a solid show despite the rain and Daryl's diva attitude. Good set list too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

I know people that are die hard Rundgren fans. He also produced Bat Out of Hell and Stage Fright by the Band! Hall is great, just a diva haha.

@@tofybean thanks for the kind words, Todd's catalog is massive!
Do you know Todd raised Liv Tyler ? Todd is awesome.
I had no clue!

Thanks again! Yeah, many people say his shows are like his now. He's supposed to tour with Elvis Costello this year too. We shall see!
Their ballads are not dissimilar sounding in my opinion.
Totally agree! Philly sound!
Both have the penchant for poignant lyrics and melody. It’s as much about emotions as composition.
I guess you could say we partied up a storm. Thanks for another great concert experience, Sam.
It was a gas!
Hey Mom..did you get me a tee shirt?❤❤❤❤❤glen
I saw them on July 31, 2022 in Hollywood, FL It was a great show. It exceeded my expectations.
It was a fun time, minus the rain!
Love Daryl and Todd, huge fan since the 70s!!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks Lisa!
Thank you for the review!
Thanks for watching Gregory!
saw the show in Fort Lauderdale Hard Rock ON 7/31...we had couch seats smack in the middle stage high. AMAZING SHOW!
Wow that's awesome!
Hey Sam, love these concert reviews - almost like being there - Todd's an amazing talent for sure - thanks for sharing 😊.
Thanks George, it was a good time despite the rain

Awesome that you got to see them! I'd like to see him with Oates, though I've seen the new documentary and Hall seems like a handful.

From what I've been reading apparently this isn't uncommon at his shows. I couldn't make it to the merch stand because of the weather. Miss you man.

He's a cool guy, seems to be okay with "his people." Cool that you saw him at Red Rocks!

That compilation was what he was promoting! He's definitely a snob haha.

It was a nasty night!

That's interesting that he's done it before, I know he's a perfectionist! Thanks Allan!
Always look forward to these concert reviews, especially when I'm familiar with the artists. Sounds like a solid show despite the rain and Daryl's diva attitude. Good set list too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Regardless of his personal demeanor he's a talented guy!
Cool video mate😀
Thanks Tony
Both legends.
Absolutely!
