That a great trick right here Me and my friend always struggle when he teleport to injuried survivor that holding the box Since they will down it use be some trick like this to prevent not harm other player like this one!!
Conversely, a lot of Pinhead players don't know the strategies to keep the chain hunt going. If you refrain from caring about pressuring people and hook states, then you can remember spawn locations for the box and their rotation. This consistently keeps chain hunts up if you keep them your primary objective. Considering that the chain hunts heavily hurts surviors in chase, this means you don't care about surviors who haven't been hooked. Don't do teleports at all unless the survior is very far away and you can get something from it (i.e. dead on hook, injured, in deadzone) You can additionally use Hoarder to account for surviors who move with the Lament Configuration, and you can bring Franklin's Demise to have more of a hit & run so you don't have to chase. I see Pinhead in public games play him really terribly by just playing normal DBD with a slight chase power and teleporting all the time. You might as well not have a power at all.
@@BDeity man, the ammount of Pinheads who keep teleporting instantly even when they're in chase and about to get a down, just to start a new chase with a healthy survivor...
If Pinhead teleports to you while you're solving the box, he will be forced to appear opposite the direction your camera is facing as long as there's a validation location. You can use this to force him to teleport into a location that's to your advantage.
i think because u don't go down to killer and u don't usually drop items when downed, the box automatically resets as it doesn't know what to do in that case xD
Whenever I solve the box, I usually try to put myself right into the middle of a gym or in between walls, so if Pinhead teleports, there is a chance he doesn't immediately see me. Once on RCPD, I stood in the middle of the stairs leading from ground floor to top floor. Pinhead spawned at the top floor and searched for me there while I quietly walked to the ground floor.
As pinhead can confirm, it's actually work in the middle of window trials, middle of rocks, etc etc, just don't run, with out scratch mark we can't see shit
The other day I went against a Pinhead who found the box and stood over it, never letting us solve it. Never attacked or chased, just relied on his Ruin to annoy us. He also had Noed, however as a swf, we had a counter. We found each and every totem while the guy was still camping the box, and let one person cleanse the totem, body blocking every incoming chain. After the game the guy asked how we cleansed the totems, and he was just trying to test if his box camping strategy worked.
*Another fun fact I forgot to mention:* Hitting great skillchecks when solving the box doesn't seem to give extra BP or even make it be solved any faster. Don't even bother.
Thank you Otz for this video, I really hope new players will see this, I've met so many people that had no idea what they have to do with the box and sadly as a player in game there is no way of explaining it to them. Thank you once again! 🙏
I've definitely seen instances where the dodging 3 chains thing is damn near impossible to do when a chainhunt starts... that, plus when he just knows where you are because of Hoarder is a huge reason Pinhead has been one of my least favorite killers to face if not my least favorite. Genuinely not a single thing I like facing about his kit.
one thing you forgot is, that you can block chains to help solving the cube if the chain hunt already started. Yes, you could do other things in the mean time, but it helps alot to take pressure from the other players.
2:00 well it has to be like this. If the box is not counting as completed when you go down to deep wounds, you would drop the box on your spot. Therefore the box could drop out of bounce or at a pallet, which could be dropped by another survivor. Both scenarios make the box unsolvable. Thats why you cant ever drop the box at all when picked up.
Should be more commonly known that it's totally possible to leave with the box. Others here have mentioned it, but it's important to keep in mind. Leaving with the box means it cannot respawn!
Idk why he is spreading all hints and counterplays against killers, helping survivors when they are already in favour by bhvr and so easy to win. I can understand that about nurse-blight but he doing it about other, weak killers

Nice thing is sometimes you can just hold the box near the end and only have chains target you. Also hiding in lockers will prevent the chains from spawning
Hey otz, there was a bug that made it to where if you used engineers fang and the purple add on that adds chains when you break them you would get that break before solving the box. I haven't faced a pinhead in a while and I couldn't get it to recreate 100% of the time but I know if affected me in a couple pinhead games.
In the beginning of the match I like to beeline in a straight line away from the box and not towards a gen. A lot of pinheads run lethal pursuer to see who’s going for the box and this can trick them into thinking you’re going for it. I get a good early chase and someone else gets to solve the box safely 👍
You don't need to wait for x3 chains to spawn, just dodge the 1st chain and immediately start solving the box. Additional chains will not spawn if you time it correctly.

I think the game thinks that the box gets solved when a Survivor goes down, but usually when that happens, it’s Pinhead solving it. When they go down to deep wound or are found in a locker, the game thinks, “oh, the killer solved the box,” but actually credits it to the survivors.
Recently had this situation wheer my gf couldnt solve the box and it was frustrating for her. Then i realized i actally have no idea myself what the trick was. Thanks for the video
The real problem is when the game start and pinhead ignores everything and just try to find the box, idk how but seem like they always find its, and from there everything just go down.
When I solve the box I position myself in the middle of a doorway/entrance way and when pinhead teleports you can move yourself opposite of where he spawns and most of the time he won’t see you
It does that because in dying state you can't solve the cube and other players can't take it from you. So either the game think it's solved or you need a lot new mechanics to make you drop the box specifically in that case or make other people able to take it or pause the chain hunt or anything else (otherwise no one would be able to solve the box in that case).
they should do it for all killer powers tbh, imagine how much more interesting someone like pig would be if you had to solve a puzzle for her traps instead of reg skillchecks
I dont think that's a good idea tbh. Pig and Pinhead always want to interrupt ppl doing the side objectives, and the minigame would make the duration of the objective solving action a bit inconsistent
Whenever I'm solving the box while a chain hunt is going on I always stand Infront of a window. I have no idea if this actually works for other people but it always seems to work for me :)
I had a Pinhead in Midwich, and his box was in the upper toilets. I was Blendette, and he didn't have immediate LoS to me. So I just crouched in one of the stalls after he teleported to me. I did this twice. Poor guy.
if you're playing solo queue, just run for the box whenever it spawns immediately as your other survivors 99% of the time will never solve it. however if you're somehow lucky and got survivors with more braincells than my 2 left surviving, you can trust them if they're close and not in chase.
Question: does it make sense to hold the cube hostage as a survivor? There were a couple of times when I was keeping the cube to myself and either sitting on very safe gens so Pinhead can't sneak up on me or (when on death hook) just walking at borders of the map far away from generators, occasionally trying to solve the box but intentionally not finishing it to signal to Pinhead to chase me. I feel like that helps your teammates since they are never harassed by the chain hunt and that deprives Pinhead from major slowdown effect even if that turns the game into partial 3v1.
If you're good at looping and the killer doesn't go right for you, it might be a good way to take away this pressure. I have had teams against me doing this already and most of the time, the guy with the box was an incredible looper. Or I have been an awful Pinhead. Or both... anyways, it's usually not the worst idea if you're a SWF. It's kind of like playing versus the Twins.
It depends on your ability to loop, and the ability of your teammates to catch the hint that they should work on gens. It's actually best for Pinhead to not chase you at all if someone decides to keep the box hostage, because its basically a 3v1 at that point, so its your job to consistently harass the killer when you purposely hold the box. The further you are in a game, the more it makes sense to keep the box hostage. If all 4 survivors are still alive in the end game, its often even best to just leave with the box.
If your teammates do gens, yes it can be a good idea. Although you have to be extra confident in your skills as chains will start spawning making looping much harder. I would argue against a decent pinhead its difficult to do, he chains you with his M2, then the chain hunt chains just keep you in place forever, but you can easily win a minute or 2 for your team, which is potentially 2 completed gens.
I once had a match with someone who just picked up the box, choose a locker far away from gens, and just be in that locker for the rest of the game. Obviously he got out and went back the same locker before the crows can alert the killer, but all 4 of us got out. :D
Idk if this is intended or wat but i got downed while chained with endurance up. I got off hook and still had endurance but went down after he chained me then m1.
Are you sure Otz that the hunt doesn't continue/can't start if you're the last survivor? As pin head I've seen last survivors getting hit by chains in these scenarios...
Another thing that's interesting is that if you don't mind getting chains yourself, you can hold onto the box indefinitely basically leaving Pinhead with a very mediocre power on everyone else similar to holding Victor hostage. Oddly enough the bots of all things actually do this and only solve it when you are unable to teleport to them (you are carrying somebody else). Obviously in solo such a thing is probably out of the question but I found it a humorous way to negate chain hunts for your team.
Now that you mention it, it is quite similar to holding Victor hostage. I think the reason many don't do it is because it's much more punishing to your team if you go down. Chain hunts begin and you're down, whereas with Victor nothing else happens to your team if the Killer spends time downing you.
Who said you ever had to solve the box. I just take the box and run around with it, forcing pinhead to either chase me or forget about chain hunts. Im not the only one who does this right?
bruh that last one is just ridiculous, so you're telling me that i should just let myself die to deepwound after i DH pinhead's attack and desperately need the box solved?
Pinhead is one of the rarer killers, so people flat out forget he teleports to you if you try to solve the box, I have gotten 3 4K in a row because of this lol
Fun fact, if you're getting chased by Pinhead while holding the box, being grabbed out of a locker also automatically solves it.

otz missplaced the "theory" and "practicce" order in the beginning
its so annoying as they always solve the cube while im hooking a survivor
bruh that last one is just ridiculous, so you're telling me that i should just let myself die to deepwound after i DH pinhead's attack and desperately need the box solved?
You can also get into a locker. It does the same thing
And if you leave with the box, it will no longer spawn on the map.
Pinhead is one of the rarer killers, so people flat out forget he teleports to you if you try to solve the box, I have gotten 3 4K in a row because of this lol
