@@gilerarunner2249 5 gear was not enter with ali express shifter i don t know why i put origins in his place but i replace all caoutchouc like in video on car without removing gear box
I am looking at doing this on my '03 e39 530i. It appears that you pulled the trans out to do this, is that necessary or can I get away with doing it from under the car only? Thanks for the awesome video!
I filmed this video in the middle of a clutch job, that’s because transmission is off. I think is possible doing it the way you say, but obviously You’re gonna sweat! Thanks for your comment and good luck ✌️
@@TheultimateDIYmachine Great, thanks! I'm about to install the Schmiedmann short shifter, and I was wondering if should I, as the ball seems to be brass. I'll go with the one you mentioned.
Really appreciate your videos man, been helping me a lot. I was wondering though what was the kind of lube spray are you using in this video? And would you say it's held up over time?
@@TheultimateDIYmachine ya I used your transmission removal video last night and it was the best one I could find, the only problem I had was that pesky stud that goes into the starter was stuck real good and I had to shake out the trans pretty hard but got it.
Nice job. Definitely worth doing this. I hate a flappy gear stick lol😁
Does the new e60 short shifter fits with my e46 330i from 2000 ?
I’m searching for a shorter shifter for my car.

Can I do the change with the gearbox installed in the car or do I have to remove the gearbox from the car?

Ditto. The clearance is small. Doing this in the garage on jacks is going to be fun … I think.
Is this possible to do without removing the transmission
It is possible, but you will struggle
have you used any grease on the new shifter ball?
Yes I do. White lithium grease.

That’s lithium grease WD-40 and I’d say it’s held up over time. I’m glad my videos are helping you, thank you so much for your comment!
