    Beautiful working boots, congrats! BTW, your Builder Pro boots are 8" not 6 and the kiltie is for 2 things, to protect the boot tongue from wearing out from the laces and to protect your instep from the laces as you break in the boots. By protecting the tongue, when (if) you get them rebuilt, they won't have to replace the tongue. Also, "D" is a medium width.
    Don't forget about JK and Franks boots, also handmade in Spokane. Whites are great boots, however, LaCrosse now owns them (and Danner) and LaCrosse is owned by a Japanese conglomerate.

    Check out frank's boots, they have a much shorter lead time and are a small family owned business started by the previous owner and operator of Nicks for 22 years.

    It’s easy to justify $600 boots when most people spend at least $300 on a car payment a month.

    • @HardcityRaindrops
      @HardcityRaindrops  2 года назад +1

      Exactly for cars they can’t afford because they have low paying job and poor money management skills. Then go buy the same cheap boots every year.

    Welcome to the Nick's family. I have 3 pairs with my first being close to 4 years old. Still have another 2 to 3 years before a resole. I also have my first pair of custom White's being built right now.
    Interesting fact Nick started out making boots for White's before striking out on his own.

    It’s called a kiltie or false toungue. It’s not for rocks or hammers dropping on your foot. It is a must so your boot laces do not wear holes in your soft tongue underneath! Nice boots. Definitely would have went with a solastic toe or steel toe if u had to have a safety toe for a slimmer toe profile. Those composite toes are so huge and bulbous makes Boots look like a clown shoe in my humble opinion. I almost made that mistake when I ordered my smoke jumpers from Whites and they told me on the phone that the composite toe would make them look like clown shoes. I ended up going with a single silastic toe with a toe cap and mine worked out great. Even a single solastic tow is pretty damn hard. Hope they work out for you. By the way, those are 8 inch boots. 👍🏼Take care.

    • @mad0uche
      @mad0uche 2 года назад

      Never in my life has a pair of boots failed because the "laces wore through the soft tongue", I have all kinds of brands including whites and JK boots, the tongue is not a failure point in any of these boots and the kiltie acts more as protection for the bones on your foot and keeping dirt, debris, sticks / branches out of your boot like he states in this video. Since you are correcting him like some sort of north west boot nazi, it's called a celastic toe and it being "pretty damn hard" offers no protection. The safety toe is bulbous and makes the shoes look different because it is not a fashion boot, it creates room in the boot so if a heavy impact strikes them your toes are not crushed, having a hard surface on the toe box like a celastic toe is useless when the celastic toe along with the object just crushes your foot.

    You should consider the Nick's Americana. It a more casual for everyday use to light work days. I have the black builder pros, size 8 1/2 EE, with rough out bottom and smooth upper. I had mine for a year and I wear them almost everyday. Now my feet can't live without it tbh. Maybe I have a kinda wide for both my feet. Hope we can see an update on those boots or another boot u purchase. Good luck man.

    Two of the most important thing are foot wear and your bed. Atleast the boots can be resoled so you will have them forever. The only redwing boots I wear are the heritage boots

The are all great Boots co that making Fireland boots and Truman's boots make only heritage boots .
