My first ever karate Instructor, way back in 1967. Sensei Seaton inspired me from day one, and memories of classes and driving to demo's (to promote the Art in the North East of England) in his big Ford Zodiac are still fresh in my mind over 50 years later. I was also impressed that he travelled from Middlesborough to Newcastle to teach us. My regret is that I just failed to track him down and reconnect a few months before his sad death. OSS! x

Great video. I recognise many of the faces here from training with these guys as a Junior. Also had the pleaser of training under Seaton Sensei. Proud to still be flying the Wado flag in 2021 :)

Is the sports hall in Carmarthen? Because I went to a karate competition for kata and the sports hall they used looks similar to the one in the video.

Muay Thai World, in principle I respect every traditional Martial Art and you should be doing the same if you are serious. Do not dismiss Karate because out there there are some very capable Karateka among the many posers. One thing you should know is that if a Muay Thai man should ever enter a street fight minus boxing gloves then he will most likely break his knuckles if his punches connect. Not so for a Makiwara trained Karateka!

      Hi Michael
Your comment is very unfair and you saying basically "he is lying" ! Karate got 4 major styles and many styles share similar katas ! I do Tang Soo Do and Taekwondo myself and both styles are similar and patterns are similar but yet TSD and TKD have lots of differences ! I belief, that Tang Soo Do patterns are more seroiusly taught but that is my view ! I do both arts for many many years .........

Oh,no! I didn’t mean to disparage this instructor. I only recognized the kata from my previous experience. I apologize if it was seen as a criticism..

There's many similarities in all karate styles. So good for you for noticing that . That's not a negative it's a positive. It means you have been looking at karate completely as an art. You haven't just been copying others movements. That's a great thing. Keep practicing karate do. It's a great way of life.

    • @doctortimetv1577

Flying kicks and showy moves are the sport side to the art and are not the self defense focus taught in traditional styles like wado ryu or uechi ryu. Flying kicks put you off balance in fights and arent practical they were only used historically to dehorse samuri in combat if another samuri lost his weapon . I dont think we are riding horses as mainstream transportation and samuri all got absorbed into the modern japanese army for the empiror of japan at the turn of the century from the 19th to the 20th.
