In real-life engagements, we are also "playing" and trying to navigate social graces, which also takes time. At least with social media, there is a creative component for those who are inclined to media and not interactive arts such as acting, speaking and so forth. So it's more a question about what is the true self in our daily lives? For me, I create the most when the ideas come naturally to me. No tricks, no gimmicks, no scheduling.
Sometimes I feel that social media and various other parts of the internet are a distraction and a problem for us Gen X people. But when I talk to my son who is a Gen Z and his friends, all Netizen who have grown up in a world full of distractions, I hear a very different story. They thrive with multi tasking. Their minds are wired differently. And I wonder if all this advice that we are giving may be completely irrelevant to the generation that's now coming up.
definitly not, as a gen Z myself the human's ability to multi task is no where close to as efficient as just a single focused action, i think alot of my generation have found ways to cope with this and even optimize it as much as possible, but it still is a negative and its very hard to see my friends refuse to see how it does effect them, Its our job as gen z, x, and millennials to recognize the dangers and pitfalls of the internet and make sure our future doesnt lose their way
I got rid of my gadgets, save a phone and a laptop. Lived more simply, and sit around quietly more. I found more room to create. Tame the modern life down.
