Thank you for doing this for my dad. Vern has always been his favorite singer. Some people even say my dad kinda looks like Vern. So you know Vern Gosdin was nicknamed "The Voice" because of his pure soulful country sound, and distinguishable vocals when he sang.
My dad loved Vern Gosdin and sang his songs practically every day. This song was released after my dad passed so he never heard it, but every time I hear Vern sing it's my dad's voice I hear. My dad and his gospel group released several albums, cassettes, and 8tracks (yes it was that long ago) and Vern's gospel songs are so powerful they put today's music to shame.
Everything you said in the beginning of this video just goes to show what a good job your dad did raising a good human being. Condolences to you and your family. Love you my brother.
I love the way you take this song bye heart.Jamey Johnson has a song that will tear your heart but it lets you make peace with the passing of love ones. The song is Lead Me Home.
I have the hardest time describing how listening to him makes me feel. Vern’s voice just tugs at my heart and soul. My ears are always blessed when he voice pours into them. I am just so glad to hear someone react to this legend. Now maybe one day you will react to Old Violin by Johnny Paycheck
i lost my dad way back in 2004 to cancer at the age of 64, and i saw my mum struggle with loneliness, right up until i lost her as well in 2016 to heart disease, and now hearing this song just before christmas, it really does hit home, i miss them both especially at christmas
Vern was pne of the best , 😢and my daughter i lost loved her old country, she loved vern herself so make me feel close to her. Lost my wonderful daughter 😢
Ay, Ill say this too. Use these songs as tools to get by, but NEVER use them to get stuck in place. Alright, my friend? Dont torture yourself. Love the channel, love the music, love you amigo. Keep being good.
Thanks for doing this. Always been one of my favorite songs. I know you said you recentley lost your Dad. I am sorry for your loss. My Mom left this world 3 years ago. And then, my Dad left 9 mo. ago. He was so lonely. Even with all of us kids here. It just wasn't the same. I think he left from a broken heart. I guess it really does happen. thanks.
Okay Rick, you are a SWEETHEART! I’m so impressed with your love for humanity, and the songs of life. Vern Gosdin was a favorite of mine too, and this song is so true as I am living it now. My husband died four years ago and I sometimes relive the times when life was rough and we only had each other to hang on to. Now I’m hanging on to that promise, I will meet him over on the Golden Shore. I have thought of a song that has come back to me and wonder if you have ever listened to it: Sylvia’s Mother by Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show. It seems to me one of the saddest songs to have ever been sung. A song of desperation and realization. Hope you find it to be true!
I think he misread my message but it's ok the first song I gave him for my dad by Vern I said was a break up song that was " That just about does it" but I thought this one would be better to remember my dad with.
Love your reactions partner ty. If you could react to Diamond Rio I Believe I would appreciate it. This is the first song I remember hearing in the days after my Gramma Millie passed. To this day it still brings a tear to my eye remembering her.
I don't know if you take requests on here. When I went into the Army in Jan. 76 this was playing on a raido that someone had on the bus. After 8 years I was getting out of the service and this song was being played on the plain ride back from Germany. In the years sence it has poped into my life as an insperation to me to do better. Oh and Vern Gosdin great choise. This is the link to the song Reflections of my Life ruclips.net/video/7wO5G9b3fGw/видео.html
Good job! Chiseled in Stone, tells the truth, I am living the old man's story. I met my Ann in high school 1967 and married 1969 and she went away with a Friend (Jesus) 2023. I had never been alone, we were one. I was her caregiver for many years and she received hospice care for her last thirteen months and two days and died at home. We built this home in rural Texas and moved in 1986, my youngest son ask me if I had ever spent the night alone in our home, not that remember. I had heard Chiseled in Stone before, but I had never "heard it" I hope this song might prepare some, but I don't think it will. But maybe it will help us to help the folks that are living the story. A broken heart is a wound that time can't erase and this song will live forever. So bring it out every now and then and play it for guys like me.
There is a voice that leaves ya mesmerized.

Vern Gosdin and co-writer Max D. Barnes won the 1989 Country Music Association Award for Song of the Year for the song.

This man is a true legend. You can't go wrong with his music. The chorus till it's chiseled in stone meaning a headstone.

There brother, only 1979 and 2017, hospice was only two months.
George Jones was my favorite and Vern Gosdin was second.
Death is part of life.
