Physical buttons on the interior and actual handles for the doors makes this a win in theory. I hope all other EV makers carry that forward; real buttons and knobs are needed for certain functions.

How many buttons does your iPhone or Android have? Or your tablet?
Much cheaper to not put buttons. You can easily add new features if it’s screen based.
Physical buttons are very useful in cars because you can often make adjustments without actually looking at them. When eveything is on a screen that is very challenging.
@@SirHackaL0t. I don't need to adjust my phone or tablet while driving. I do need to adjust the climate control, put the vehicle in reverse, lower the volume, adjust the brightness of my headlights, turn on my signals, and so on. I don't need new features, I need buttons. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay handle the rest.
@@SirHackaL0t. you don't use your phone by feel, you have to look at it, and in a car that means looking away from the phone. Physical buttons that can be reassigned would seem a good idea
The fun thing about the UI is that they use the unreal engine in order to create all those graphics

I know the Hummer EV looks big in the video but it looks even bigger and better in person. I see them on the road all the time and it is an impressive vehicle. I love the front light bar.
I LOVE that they didn't make this look like out of the future or like concept cars, this design fits my taste perfectly. It's not overdone. Even the sound inside while accelerating isn't sci-fi.

I just got my Hummer EV SUV First Edition before Christmas. I enjoy every minutes I am driving the car. It is so nimble and quick. The ride quality is far better than my Mercedes ML350. 😊😊😊

It's crazy how hard it is to get it charged but in Al Mazrah you can get a full charge at any gas station in like 1 or 2 minutes.
The crab walk is for offloading. It allows you a way out if stuck (obstacles or mud)
I test drove one. It really is that much fun.

I love when one of my favorite RUclipsr’s reference other favorites. Stradman’s video about his trip with the Hummer going off roading and the issues that arose throughout involving charging was horrifying. The infrastructure for anything outside of Tesla really is not there yet. And with MKBHD releasing a video about the non-Tesla vehicles charging at select Tesla Superchargers currently, makes you wonder if Tesla is operating like Apple. Closing off their ecosystem to preserve it but also allowing limited access when it benefits them (and their pockets).

After seeing this video, I can say that I'm officially intrigued! I've always seen the hummer ev as more of a "working concept" - like you buy the first Gen to fund the R&D of the 2nd Gen, and that's the one you woukd really want.
If they can fix the charging, I would say it's pretty good competition for tesla!
Nobody wants to wait hours for their vehicle to be fully charged. That’s something that still needs to be worked on.

so just wanna point out that that button to roll down all the windows at the same time originated on the hummer GM carried it over to their truck line when they canceled the Hummer, so the Silverado, the Colorado so forth have that one touch button for all windows
Ford has the all electric F150 pickup, (Lightning). it is released fully to market.
Crabwalk is not at all pointless... Just not made for your usecase in a city. It's made for offroading / climbing rocks.
Really fun video to watch. I've seen a couple Hummer EV's and probably 5-6 Ford Lightning EV trucks in the Denver area where I live. Cool idea, but kind of a bummer that charging options are so limited. That would stink to have a $75-100,000 truck and not be able to go where you really want to.
I must say, this is everything Hummer meets EV. GM married the 2 facts so well. Dope video Sara, great to hear your perspective. Reminds me of all that made me want a hummer when I was a kid but refused to even consider as it was a gas guzzler. Really want it though it is massive 😅

$18 for 65 miles is hysterically expensive. Even with gas prices being very high, I get 65 miles for well under half that in a Ford Maverick (with regular old gasoline). Never mind the fact that it takes 2 minutes rather than 60.
I was just watching Bright Sun Films Bankrupt series episode on AM General HUMMER. Seems like the same is bound to happen with this generation of Hummer. GM can only make a few thousand unit MAX per year. The development and manufacturing cost is more than that. High Cost and Low Sales = Bankrupt.

Crab walk is designed for off road if you’re stuck on a trail and need to go diagonally to get around an obstacle, like a giant rock or tree. Hence again why the Silverado Ev rst doesn’t need it. It’s an on road Ev
Actually I like it and it was so nice to see the Fam in the Video. I think your Brother really liked it as well. I think wether it’s Electric or Gas it doesn’t matter because they are going to do whatever they want regardless and I don’t think changing any rules would make a difference because I see crazy drivers from all some times.Awesome Video Thanks for sharing ✌️

Isn’t super cruise just about the same experience as free highway autosteer and traffic aware cruise control on our Ys? I mean other than having to nudge the wheel occasionally. No FSD package required.
No - If you don’t have the full self driving on tesla it doesn’t change lanes for you. Super cruise does change lanes for you

GM / Chevy EV’s have the perfect combination of screen size / tech and physical buttons. I hate how everything is on a screen for a Tesla. That’s insane to me. Rivian as well

So fresh news from today, apparently they are issuing a recall on all battery packs, they are not 100% waterproof and fortunately replacing them under warranty (the pack costs $60k).

The weight of EVs don’t concern me since most of them have driver aids that would prevent an accident in the first place. People eyes do widen when I tell them my Kona EV weighs almost the same as a 2 door F150. I do feel the weight while driving it as well but I like it. Feels extremely planted on the road.

tesla doesn't have "autopilot", it only has adaptive cruise control. no one is even remotely close to "autopilot".
I liked the Hummer EV Tesla a lot and I appreciate the company for not making the bunker close automatically because it might spell disaster to get stuck by chance and you forget the remote incase and the poor button inside, you can think now! I don't if the Tesla truck or any other Tesla model are able to sense the traffic signals and auto decelerating mechanism against violation of traffic rules! I was really a dumbo in schools!

Not a perfect solution but if it gets people who hate EVs and dont care enough about climate change to pay attention that's a step in the right direction.

I personally just try to stick to Electrify America. It's not perfect, but it's about as close as you can get to Tesla in terms of geographic coverage and quality. It's nice that Tesla is starting to open up It's charging network to non-Tesla, but the short cable length will be a problem.
But was is $100k fun? And $18/65 miles fun? Lol. I LOVE the concept of EV’s, but they just aren’t practical yet as you said. Great video Sarah!
Ummm, unless you get a Tesla. You won't pay anything near $18 more like $5 for 100 miles. I'd say that price goes way beyond practical.

This vehicle weighs over 9,000 pounds and can go from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds. In the United States, you can drive it with a regular license. At some point we need to ask ourselves if having vehicles this large/fast barreling through neighborhoods is a good idea. Thankfully, there aren’t that many on the road at the moment. I couldn’t imagine being hit by one of these things.
The Hummer EV is probably still better for the environment than an ICE vehicle, but it’s still going to take a lot more energy to run it than other EVs. At a time when lithium demand is outpacing production, you could make batteries for multiple cars using the same amount of materials needed for the Hummer EV.

For the less informed:
This vehicle is of course a different part of the market than the more practical Plaid and Model X $100k pricepoint vehicles. The hummer will remain a niche, low volume production vehicle because of that and especially considering the bottleneck of battery supply for auto makers.
If anything it will compete more with other large ICE trucks in the market or the Cybertruck when that comes out, but even the Cybertruck is supposed to be intended for more practical purposes and different audience of style choice plus cheaper pricepoints (if everything goes according to plan, we'll see).
Aside from the comparisons w Tesla (which left a lot out) nice review!

Looks good but it isn’t practical for many truck owners. I think if I was going to buy an EV truck I would want a Silverado or a Sierra A truck with a full size bed. That would make it a practical work truck. (But to be practical the price would have to be less so the average workman could afford iy)
