I was on a well in WA state for over 11 1/2 years. Kept gallon jugs of non potable water for toilets. Kept gallon jugs of drinking water. If the power went out we had no well.. once the drinking gallons were used we kept them filled and stored. Power went out a lot but longest was 7 hours. My sister in law outside of Salem, Oregon said a few years ago during an ice storm they were without power for 12 days. Yikes.

Years ago during a drought, we were told to only use the toilet when there were “brown swimmers”. The kids learned the poem: if it’s brown, flush it down. If it’s yellow, let it mellow. This went on all summer.

Great ideal, always gotta keep 2 steps ahead of the needs,
It's to easy to just take for granted the every day pleasures..
We live in a mobile home for 2 years now, feels SO GOOD to actually own it, but we had to make plans and keep emergency bags ready to pick up and go..
Harder than you know when you have a special needs daughter who has to have trech supplies to keep her alive..
So freaked out , we even purchased contractors helmets for head protection. .
O.k. I may be WEIRD, but to me it's like preventive medecine..😮

Sorry about the water. Yes we are resourceful when we need to be. Don’t forget your pool water too. The thing I’m most concerned about is the electrical grid. Cause in a major whatever the gas generators will run out of fuel and the propane will only last til your tank is empty. So I’m thinking solar is the only way but not sure which one.

Before modern plumbing people had an outhouse. People had simple wells folks took a bath Saturday night to be "fresh" for church on Sunday morning. . Folks heated water on the wood stove and filled a galvanized water trough that everyone bathed in. Kids first up to the men.. that's where the expression "Don't throw baby out with the wash water" came from. People been using rainwater since forever 😛God bless y'all. ❤

You have heard I am sure that "a country boy can survive". You can always figure out a way. If it comes to it you can haul water from the pond to flush with. One year we had a heavy wet snow storm, took our power out for over 2 weeks. I had buckets, pots, dish pans any thing that would hold water under every drip off the house I could find. Melted clean snow for drinking and cooking. Found out I could cook a lot on a kerosene heater. Hopefully in the near future you can have your own well. Its just a problem with the power goes out. God bless you all and your little community.

We keep 20 2 litter bottles full of water for our 4 dogs, 5 & 3 gallon water about 100 gallons in total in our house at ALL TIMES‼️ I make sure all my 6 potbelly girls & my 4 Nigeria goats full of water 2-3 times a day because of this. Our Wild Firer Dept has water we can get just up our dirt road. I would be thrilled tho if we got rain. Today 6/5/24 its to be 102 in Wittmann, Arizona. But we live in desert.
