it's a movie set and they are very young children, so to occupy them and maybe even as part of their schooling, they are doing some arts and crafts during a break from filming. Aibon was clearly ready to shoot as she is in costume and gives little Mai a plush toy based on her own cartoon likeness in the movie. It was partially animated.
