I got a carving knife set from Harbor Freight and then I had to sharpen all of them for 3-4 hrs before they'd cut anything. Now that they are sharp I'll use them on the eyes of wood spirits and some other stuff. It's a lot easier than power tools to get both eyes 👀 symmetrical. But power tools and hand tools both have their place and I thank God that we have both of them cause I can't do it all by hand 🖐 anymore. Thanks Kevin for all GOOD tutorials and let the dust fly ✈️.
I hear ya, Sometimes you just want to make some dust right LOL
Lots of great info from a legendary carving guru thank
Bro helps me a lot stay awesome just carve

great tips thanks again Kevin these videos really do help
Good i'm glad, hope they help.
Watching this & listening to you is a great help for me. Thanks for taking the time to help others. All the best.
Kevin your explanations are great. I'm so right brained/ right handed with my knives and gouges that my carvings look ok on the left side and the right side seems a little harder to get things to look uniform.. I'm working on that. Thanks for sharing
You'll get it all down with practice Linda keep carving, hope the vids help explain some things.
I appreciate you showing us step-by-step, as this has been the hardest thing for me to carve!! Is it possible to do these eyes and nose withOUT a v-tool or gouge?
Me encantan tus videos, un saludo desde España!
Thank you.
Another really great instructional video.

@@stixandstonescarving Always watching my friend… I feel like when you get it you get it. I haven’t quite got it yet. Gets frustrating to the point I want to throw it all away.. however my heart is all in it.. pretty much an obsession
@@Coastal_one then you will definitely get it that’s for sure. Keep going .
At some point I gotta learn using knives 😂.
Thats what I'm posting these videos for Amy jo so you can try to learn.
I started with a cheap set to see if I liked carving. Needless to say, I'm a carving tool junkie!!
I’m curious as to what kind of wood block you were using because it appears that there are very tight grains and seems like it would be easier to carve than some of the blocks I’ve used that have larger grains.
I'm using basswood in this video.
👍👍👍👍🍺😎
