You and Jesse seem like great people. Thank you for having him on your podcast, and thanks to Jesse for making an appearance. I am sad that due to my health issues I was unable to do the meet and greet with Erra, and missed the show. And I missed Erra's AMA which to me is devastating. Not that anyone cares about my personal story behind this, but Erra is an inspiration to me, Jesse specifically. I have a goal, to learn and cover Expiate. That song holds a special place in my heart along with the entirety of Neon, and the new self titled. Jesse, if you see this, thank you for everything you've done for music, and me personally. Thank you both, and much love.
Love to hear Jesse talk about anything, especially his music. So happy that you two were able to work this out and give us these extra little stories about the writing process and album overall.
Wow what a great conversation, thanks for sharing! Loved the insight into both your minds. I really felt the part where you are speaking about old/new fans. It makes so much sense to me. Having people follow the band for a long time, supporting it since the beginning, is an amazing feeling, but as humans and individuals living their lives, there’s always the chance of divergence. Lives following different paths and no longer feeling in sync with the thoughts and feelings behind a band’s new stuff. It’s normal. With new fans, the sync is perfect; that feeling of « omg these lyrics, this sound, hits so hard right in my soul ». That’s beyond words.
I love the playthroughs/instrumentals i wish all bands would do that...it enhances the music and our appreciation for it ..learning vanish canvas now and a couple other tracks .. this new album is awesome i listen to it in its entirety everyday
Incredible podcast João! Jesse Cash is a genius in more ways than we all understand. His music is absolutely phenomenal and reaches into other forms of multidimensional writings that tap into so much of the human experience and the spiritual realm. I totally enjoyed this one man! Great work!
Amazing podcast Joao. I loved every minute of this, especially the talk of what each song represents. I watched the Erra's livestream of their album release so I was kinda worries it would just repeat what they said back then but Jesse gave us tons of new information, and I'm glad you shaped the interview in a way that we would get insight of Jesse's songwriting that normally we wouldn't know. I'm glad you have come up with this kind of contest, as opposing to just stick to metal covers, and your English is amazing, loved the banter and the pog face. Good luck with everything and even if someday you stop making content for whatever reason I'm sure everyone will understand if you decide to stop at any point, best of lucks!
Been following Jesse since the Augment album and gold soul coma by Ghost Atlas. One of my favorite and most influential guitarists. Really inspires me to make push my riffs a little further. Loved this! Thanks João and Jesse. I’d love to work with both of you on some music
So I commented on Jesse's House of Glass video this: "Nah....João Medeiros did a much better cover. No clue who this scrub is..." I said that because I knew people in the comments would either get it or not, and that would be funny. Hopefully that wasn't a comment you didn't like. I will say this though João: your cover of Electric Twilight is what made me listen to the new album. I hadn't heard the band before except for watching Snowblood back when it first came out, but now I have all their albums and appreciate the song structures even more because of watching how technical that cover was, so well done you!!! You made me a fan of Erra!!!
I get it man and no harm done at all, that particular day I recorded the podcast I was a bit more negative hehe. I appreciate those comments a lot actually
awesome interview, the riddle of the vocal interchange betweenJT and Jess in house of glass tells me how magnificently genius is this band ,they are far bigger than any other band that released music this year
Funny that Memory Fiction took 3 records to come to fruition. For me personally its my favorite Erra track. Great Podcast/Chat/interview. Jesse is just such an incredible artist. Complete Artist
Nice interview! Gotta love Jesse both as a person and musician. His solo at the end of Drift (title track) is one of my favorites, slow I know, but I really like that slow melodic stuff a lot too (as well as fast/technical, but sometimes you just got to go with what the song calls for, context and practicality more important than showing off you could say). The tapping main part in Expiate or mood of chorus in Sleeper are great too among many other moments across Erra's discography and Ghost Atlas as well. Love the Meshuggah vibe in Scorpion Hymn too.
Bro, metal intent NEED'S to have it's own identity on the channel, loving the content JOAUM ♥, erra hands down one of THE BEST progressive metalcore stuff out there
Brooo i had no fucking clue you had a podcast, no way haha, exited to watch this! edit: I really got into Erra when Drift hit, absolutely loved that record. That said, i never had the feeling these newer songs are completely different. I don't get how these longer time fans think House of Glass is not Erra sounding haha, i think it's the most Erra sounding song on the new record, or atleast it represents them in the best way i think. It's super heavy, super melodic, and as Jesse mentions it's an evolution in their rhythmic skills. I guess everyone has their own reception of things ofcourse, but i can safely say i fucking love the last record lol.
Holy shit, I still use TabIt to this day to basically blueprint my tracks. Friggin awesome to know Jesse uses (used?) it too. It's so lightweight and convenient. We have a Discord we barely use to discuss random whatever since the forums are down (Discord is easier these days anyway). JRs talking about bringing the site back up and updating the software but he's been kind of kicking the can down the road for years. Some ppl want to kinda buy the software outright and work on it themselves (and probably make it open source, iirc) but JR won't respond to that lol. There are a few QOL improvements it could use. Jesse, were you on the forums/uploading tabs, if so, who were you? :P Can we peep the tabs for the self titled? :eyes_emoji: This was a super great interview. The feeling of just being yourself online as opposed to like, sanitizing yourself for whoever is intended to receive the message (and the fact that there's obviously boundaries as well) is something I think about a lot cuz there's a few content creators I follow cuz I love their sense of humor but their interactions with their community is like.. well one in particular likes to talk about how talking to content creators casually like you talk to your friends is 100% not okay, and he doesn't understand that not everyone thinks that way, so hearing you guys talk about that exact thing, I'm happy to feel a bit justified in that belief lol. As far as the music goes, the bit about ppl not knowing who is doing what in the chorus of House of Glass baffles me a bit cuz to me it was very clear which voice is Jesse and which is JT haha. And Shadow Autonomous is my favorite off the album as well. Something about it is so emotional, not just lyrically. It's a vibe for sure, and to that point, it's a specifically bittersweet, melancholic vibe that I haven't felt in a song in a long, long time. I had a great time watching this, very insightful. I'm definitely gonna have to go back and watch the rest of the interviews (and find some more with the band). I'm surprised you two didn't bring up Sleep Token even once :P Anyway, awesome stuff, sorry for the ramble. As AWOLnation says, blame it on the ADD baby.
BRUH the TabIt gang is real 🤣🤣🤣 love to see it! And thank you so very much man. I'm really really happy you appreciated all the details ❤ I live for an ADD comment like yours
jesses take on eidolon is really interesting. its one of my favorite tracks on the album but i understand why he thinks the way he does about it. maybe they can remix it or something haha
Yeah and it's a great song! I think it's great how he can be open about these things, like I said, a lot of artists won't be and in my opinion it's to their own detriment
All the gratitude to Jesse for coming on, and to you for listening ❤

Jessee is a legend, his remnant solo and divisionary riff are my fav stuff from him
He is! Great choices man!
@Zachary Clinton IT FUCKING DOES, AND THE CHORUS AFTER THE SOLO IS JUSY TOO GOOD
Gungrave riff and Eidolon intro are my 2 favs
The last few seconds of Divisionary resonates with my soul.
You and Jesse seem like great people. Thank you for having him on your podcast, and thanks to Jesse for making an appearance.

Thank you for the high praise Sean! ❤️
Love to hear Jesse talk about anything, especially his music. So happy that you two were able to work this out and give us these extra little stories about the writing process and album overall.
Same here Jeremy! Thanks so much

It really does man! Thank you so so much for checking this out
The fact that snowblood was written in 1 day blows my mind
Incredible podcast João! Jesse Cash is a genius in more ways than we all understand. His music is absolutely phenomenal and reaches into other forms of multidimensional writings that tap into so much of the human experience and the spiritual realm. I totally enjoyed this one man! Great work!

Your cover of gungrave got me into Erra in the first place! Wound up learning it end to end. Both of you are absolutely rad.
You have no idoa how happy that makes me Nathan! Awesome and thank you ❤️
