I remember when I was a little kid struggling with this part of the game, time and time again, only to beat AC3 SilentLine five years later after watching a speedrun XD
You guys think this is bad, try playing the original AC's final level without save states. The gawds damned platforming takes a good 10 minutes even if you get good at it, then you have to fight 9 Ball TWICE. I broke 2 controllers on that back in the day...
@@Silamon2 Did this just a couple of months ago, been streaming an AC Marathon from 1 to the latest games, and the loathing I had for Generation 1's final mission platforming made me burn with dread every single time AC had platforming after. I ended up just cheesing both nine-balls by getting him stuck in the tunnels because I couldn't be bothered after the platforming. The Big Whites were nothing by comparison, the movement techniques I learned from MoA made it trivial.
I've played almost all of 3rd gen before, but the announcement made me so hyped I'm going through 1st and 2nd gen and will even try 4th gen later. Of course, I will try to get through 3rd gen again, this time on the PS2 version with the oldschool controls. I wish myself luck when I run into those fights again.
Done the samething but started from ac1. My thumb hurted from pressing forward until i made the Dpad the camera. And have been playing like that till ac2 another age. Cant wait to reach post nexus for that analog controle.
The mission where you have to dodge constant orbital bombardment while fighting eneimes and then having to face off against another big white still hurts me to this day.
Same deal, Saw AC6 reveal, Had to dig out my old AC:SL. Everything was going fine until Longspear. ahahah. Bajillion hours later, made a quad grenade launcher mech to best him~
Hahahaha same as me i just built heavyweight tank ac with high armor a with good radar range and anti ecm then slap those backmounted grenade launchers and just hope that u can beat the shit out of them before they beat ur because tank feet is slow af
my favorite, im glad we are getting some new armored posting also tip for fighting ac and in general, use hopping : double tap the booster key and when you are about to fall to the ground double tap again while moving in any direction
Very advisable, but OP-I with booster upgrades doesn't require much boost hopping since the generator recharges more than even the FLEET can consume. It's very fun on a lightweight HUESO. Lets you kite arena enemies while not even running out of EN.
The way that AC turns around the corner was the most badass shit I've ever seen. The Metal Gear Solid like music just enhanced the feeling. I got chills during this part!
Silent line man most of the missions have like a plot twist and sometimes it would have a double plot twist My favourites are when you go back to the past ac 3 final mission to explore and then you fight not just 1 not just 2 but 3 acs And my other favourite was defending a facility from attacks then a freaking orbital Cannon shows up forcing you to always be on the move then a big white shows up for a fight Silent line was challenging but man it makes you feel like a bad ass when you win Now i am playing last raven 💀
Actually you do heal when you beat the first ac but for the hidden part you can’t get hit once (as much I love silent line it was my first ac game hidden parts in that game were so infuriating to do)
Honestly, the powerplant mission from SL is my favorite of all time. As a kid I only had a hand-me-down PS1 from one of my mom's friends that moved out of the country and it only had a couple F1 games, and the demo disc with the AC1 demo on it. So one day we go to Walmart and as usual I go hang out at the video game section and there was a PS2 demo machine with a SL demo, and the powerplant mission was on that. It blew me away, the game looked so good and played so much better than my AC1 demo, and also because I never managed to beat this guy on the demo machine. I saved up my $20 a month allowance for over a year to buy a PS2 and the game so I could finally have revenge.
Ah the good old days when mastering boost hopping will make your life so much easier. For AC3, I had a hard time back then doing missions to get the all OP-INTENSIFY upgrades. That was such a blast.
Honestly the armored core series deserves more players and community, it's a great game, and till now silent line is one of my favorite ps2 game and one of all my videogame history
EO's were fun. My AC was built around orbital weapons, including the back weapon. Why the fuck should I worry about aiming when I can let the AI do it? ...what do you mean letting AI have control could backfire? The FUCK is a Seraph?
On longspear, stay at mid range and bob with left and right. You need to use one or two solar panels as cover and kite him around it. There's an optional mission afterwards that's pretty easy and has a good credit reward.
Carrying my shit over from 3 made silent line really easy up until the later half where I had to use tank Gatling gun build to get me thought it 😅 Last raven is next but going to wait until after AC6 now
The thing I enjoy other than mech customization is that your performance isn't just rated by your raven rank at the end, but it's also reflected on your balance sheet (ammo & repair)
some tips for AC3 and SL from a veteran pilot: - get the CGP-405/ROZ (or close to that) generator, it's the best one in the game, hands down - get the MBT-NI/MARE boosters, they're the best mix of drain and output - learn to boost-hop, it's a skill VITAL to your success in the pre-PS3/360 era of games (though somewhat less in AC1-MOA) - learning to use your left hand can be tricky in ACSL because the detection on it is a little janky, but in battles where you know you'll be up against an AC (and don't need a blade), a fast-firing weapon like an MG or a rifle will serve you well. - the RF/220 and RF/220H right-handed rifles are the best anti-AC weapons in the game, they deliver a punishing amount of heat and damage at the same time. MGs (especially the 700H and the 800rnd one (forget the name) are also incredibly effective, especially if you can hold a bead on your victim. - MTs don't take heat input, they only take regular damage

Yeah the best part of this stage is how it punishes you if you didn't have a good setup for the stage itself by having a boss that can near instantly take you out because of that.
always annoys me when i blast through all my ammo to clean up the rubble in those missions and then an AC shows up and i am practicly unarmed xD When i had the credits to spare i often overloaded my mech with some high ammo back cannons and extra armor ,cleaned up the small fries and then purged my empty "extra weight" to go in with a full primary weapon and high mobility for the ac "duel" always wished you could pick up the purged stuff afterwards as using some heavy dual back mounted gatling as a throwaway tool was a tad expensive xD
Pro Tip: For enemies like this with high shell/heat damage. Try to bulk up on cooling, shell/solid def with generator output as a tertiary focus. Or you could use high alpha damage weapons for quick takedowns if you can maneuver fast enough.

I have fond memories of coming out of every mission with negative money because I use 2 machine guns and a chain gun in every mission. I will never stop bullet-hosing, you can’t make me.
NGL, parts of the game seemed impossible till I built the lightest mech imaginable with the 800 ammo MG. Then suddenly everything went from impossible to easy mode.
The machine and chain guns are pretty bonkers pre magazine and accuracy changes from nexus and onwards. The dps and large ammo count make them a hard to beat competitor against other weapon classes... if you're rich anyway, lol speed also helps as I think most gen 3 enemies have a rough time dealing with speed (which is appropriate since, more often than not, your defenses are low)

Never needed OP-I or Human Plus personally, though for me experimenting with different builds was half the fun. If one build didn't work then I had a dozen ideas that would do better. Then again it helps when I started with Project phantasma as the first AC game I owned. Played the first game but only the demo and a rental of it.
I kinda skipped 3rd gen because I didn't have a console that could play any of them. But I did do 4th and half of 5th. I remember a lot of players in 4th gen comllained about quick boost. They would say stuff like "now any noob can spam quick boost and never get hit" While at the same time they were unable to dodge my shots. Quick boost or not, landing shots and dodging requires timing. Something I see you learned well against Spearhead. Some lessons are better learned the hard way. I beat him with a lightweight Crest build. Just focused on evading him and using the multi-missile shoulder extensions to stay at long range XD

Yeah, pretty sure you are meant to actually carry over your AC from Armored Core 3, that's why it's so difficult lol.
