Is popcorn not made at the counter in other countries? Every movie theater I’ve been to in the states has always had the popcorn made via a machine right behind the counter in full view.
Yeah he's definitely talking about commercial popcorn like that shit that comes in those bins
Exactly
Like what they really fully on trust them like that
I mean in America there's been much complains about the food includin human stuff in it
They do make popcorn in the machine behind the counter but they pop most of the popcorn they use at the beginning of the shift, they store it in bags and refill the popcorn machine behind the counter with the pre popped popcorn. At least that's what I've been told by an employee and seen myself.
i’m not sure cuz usually when they have the popcorn it’s in the display cabinet alr so idk how they make it
They make it in front of you in the US.
So for AMC, they actually pop it right in front of you, so it’s as fresh as possible. And it actually scales accordingly, the small popcorn is worth the most per ounce it’s crazy.

The last one is true for any “soda” companies are just syrup distributors, in my fathers restaurant we have those syrup bags and then you add CO2 and it makes it fizzy
You're missing several steps to the process actually.
Cory Hayden I was just kinda giving a brief idea
@@Strokin383 could you explain the process? Im actually really fascinated by the syrup. I didnt really think much about it, but had always just assumed coca cola or pepsi just delivered like actual, drinkable coke to the restaurants and they just popped like really big bottles open into their beverage dispensers or something.
I in noway could have imagined that a syrup was involved.. but now that i think about it, it actually makes senseee because the distribution costs of so much liquid would be insanee.

He missed both the popcorns in the beginning💀
My wife used to work in concessions at our local flea market back in 1989. Cokes were $2.00 each. The Coke cost 1 cent and the cup cost 5 cents. That's why all these places give free refills now.
For McDonald’s, instead of the bags of syrup, Coke actually delivers it in metal containers so they have fresher Coke, giving it a different taste, and making more people buy it. Also Coca-Cola is not allowed to make a better deal with any other company for coke.

@Clean Up On Aisle 3 ur name should be clean up on reply
As someone who has worked for a theater for nearly 3 years, MOST of what he has said is true.
The medium popcorn IS a decoy but not buying the large is legitimately costing you more money than the medium or small. Especially in the case of my location where you get a single free refill on a large popcorn so essentially you get two large popcorns for the price of one, way better deal than a single medium popcorn that’s only a dollar cheaper.
Why buy popcorn at all you may ask? That’s where roughly 80% (don’t know the exact number but just know it is the majority) of were our revenue comes from, NOT movie tickets. We get a pathetic cut from the movie tickets we sell. Our money comes from popcorn, drinks and candy. I know it may be more expensive to do so but if you don’t want your local theaters going out of business, at least get something from the concessions booth. Even a single, smaller item helps.
Also two minor steps he missed about the process of making popcorn. Unless asked specifically not to, the location I work at will pre-salt the seed before it’s popped to give it a stronger texture. It’s also cooked in a soy oil inside the kettle to, you know… keep it from catching on fire. But it also adds an additional layer of flavor which is often why theater popcorn tastes better/different from store boughten popcorn. It’s all in the way it was popped.
I have a question?
Do movie theaters actually care if you bring outside stuff in?
Edit: ok everyone I’ve gotten enough answer you no longer need to respond to the question. Thanks yall
@@afatcat180 they care, but in almost all places it's allowed
@@afatcat180 It depends on the location. At our location if we notice you bring in candy we won't stop you even though it is frowned upon. Again, bringing outside food is money we're not making. It is technically against our policy but it's not a huge deal.
However if you where to bring in like a pizza or a meal from a nearby restaurant then we would ask you to either eat it in the lobby or throw it away/leave it in your vehicle.
The exception would be alcohol. Absolutely no outside alcohol allowed. Some locations sell alcoholic beverages but even then I don't believe they allow outside alcohol.
@@afatcat180 it depends on the theater if it’s one of the Big Brand theater like the one I worked at yeah they would check bags during Christmas and big movie events. We also had security for this reason. Not the food but b*mb threats and dangerous items can be put into food containers or people’s bags. You think it’s over kill but our sister store had a drive by shooting and it turns out the person they were shooting for worked at ours. But it’s also because of money and stuff like alcohol and other weird stuff people try to get away with.
If it's a local theatre I might buy concessions but if it's amc or regal, like the big chains, it don't really matter if you sneak snacks in right?
Him throwing popcorn on the air then trys catching it and missed was funniest sh*t ever.

The syrup part is quite common in fast food places as well. They usually have carbonated water and the syrup for the soda and it’s made on the spot because it’s cheaper and more efficient than transporting bottles of the stuff.
every fountain u have ever used users syrup lol
Why would it be more efficient?
@@iCore7Gaming use your brain
@@iCore7Gaming because you don't need to ship water so all they have to ship to the restaurants is CO2 and the syrup
@@iCore7Gaming the end products are always more expensive than the components. Which is why they supply syrup, or rather the shop buys the syrup. Water and carbonated water (machine) can be sourced and used cheaply, so the cost of selling the final product ends up being reduced.

Ya alot of cinemas here in the phillipines actually show us how they made the popcorn BUT its actually a small version of the maker in like a cart thingy and they just scoop it out and put it in my bucket
I like how most of these cinema secrets are for the most part common knowledge and the soda thing is how it’s made basically everywhere it’s not already in a bottle or can
I don’t know where this is, but none of this is a shock at all lol I live in the US, and the popcorn is popped right behind the counter for everyone to see. They put the kernels in, and it’s popped right there in the open. The employees just turn around, scoop some popcorn into a container, and then hand it directly to you. Also, the soda is mixed very differently here. The water is already carbonated, and we have machines that you plug a cartridge of the syrup into a hose, and the machine mixes them itself. So the carbonated water gets made in the machine, presumably by being hooked up to the tap water, and when you press the soda button to dispense soda, it just mixes the carbonated water and syrup in the hose on the way to the cup. The employees don’t have to sit there and mix every cup with “gas,” water, and syrup.
Glad I'm not the only one
this
He wasn’t insinuating that they mix all the soda manually. He was just showing the individual components. Also no, carbonated water is made on site with CO2 tanks. A lot of buildings are equipped to have a co2 truck refill the tank via a port on the outside of the building.
