‘You’re such a liar’: Actor Brian Blessed on his chats with Queen Elizabeth II

- Actor Brian Blessed says Queen Elizabeth II “finds him very naughty” after meeting him while he was performing on the West End.
Mr Blessed said when he met Her Majesty, she was kind and poured tea and coffee for him, as well as for his dresser - who was panicking due to Royal presence.
“When she gave me the OBE what did she say? … ‘I do believe people have told me that you imitate me’,” he told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“I said no I don’t, she said ‘you’re such a liar’.”
Mr Blessed said he also worked closely with Prince Charles and regarded the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall “bloody marvellous people”.
“Tremendous, he’s green, green, green, green, green, green, we need him,” he said.

The Queen is very special, she’s done her duty for 70 years without complaint, she had to balance being a mother to her own children whilst also being mother/grandmother to the UK and the whole commonwealth. Which is why H&M were booed. After all the damage they’ve done, I’m surprised they had the nerve to show up.

She's not allowed to get involved with the issues, you have political leaders for that. You deliberately misrepresent her and what actual power she has to sway government. Know the facts about royalty before getting upset about things you care about but expect others to solve.

Brian Blessed; he never loses the mystique and interest I have had for him over so many decades. To think that I was first introduced to this man when he played a major role on an early 1960's TV program called Z Cars as Constable William Smith aka Fancy Smith.
I was just thinking the same thing Z Cars, what a truly remarkable man he is I just love him. He never fails to make me laugh. Now as a grandmother I associate him with Peppa Pig and all the marvellous voices he provides.

You are so right, the monarchy, represented by the Queen is an intangible thing, men will fight for Queen and Country but they won't fight for politicians, at least in their hearts or under duress, I agree that there is a divine element surrounding and protecting the Queen and by extension, Britain , her coronation was a solemn, religious ceremony where holy oil anointed her and she said that something had changed in her , she always concludes her opening of parliament, by commending God's blessings on her government's program and ministers .

Great for us! I love the Queen and my adopted country, Britain, from the bottom of my heart, from a daughter of British immigrants to South Africa who returned some 45 years ago!
What a wonderful and positive interview. I am from Nepal which abolished Monarchy 16 years ago and people regret it bitterly now. GB is fortunate to have a Monarch who is all that was mentioned in the interview and more. She is a remarkable woman, hardworking, unspoilt, dedicated and a great example for all women and men around World. Unfortunately, western ideology have vastly underistimated this larger than life personality.

as a young princess she was regarded as very grumpy by the press and now a mere 50 years later she is the new mother teresa, who would have thought it? she is a strong sense of duty and responsibility and is not an attention seeker. she has done well.

HM Queen Elizabeth II is not yet the world's longest reigning monarch, that title belongs to Frances' Louis XIV ( 72 years and 110 days , he became king at age 5 years).
Queen Elizabeth II has reigned for 70 years and 121 days.
If Her Majesty can stay with us for 2 more years, she will become the world's all time longest reigning monarch. God Save the Queen !
But Louis wasn't opening State boxes with government documents every day which our Queen has as an adult reigning monarch! No comparison. Queen Elizabeth II was meeting British Prime Ministers every week from the beginning of her 70 year reign, whereas Louis was playing with toys for many years into his reign.

Peter O'Toole was correct, the Queen does have something about her unlike any other person you are ever likely to meet. I don't know if it was her complexion, the way she held herself, the way she spoke but I knew I was in the vicinity of someone very special, almost unworldly and I'm not a person who is really ever impressed by anybody.
