"The Freedom We Claim for Ourselves, We Gladly Grant to Other"
This sermon will focus on our congregation’s Bond of Union that shapes our journey of faith. We will explore the foundational beliefs of our church and explore what it means to be part of a non-doctrinal church. The words of the prophet Micah that are quoted in the Bond of Union that call us to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.
We welcome a brass quintet to our worship service this Sunday. They’ll be playing throughout the service with our hymns and anthem. Sunday’s Chancel Choir anthem is one of my personal favorites: One Faith, One Hope, One Lord by Craig Courtney. This dignified and thoughtful song is a powerful affirmation of faith with harmonically rich and beautiful writing for the choral voices. Brass enhances the majestic text stating, “One faith, one hope, one Lord, one church for which He died, one voice, one song we lift in praise to Him who was and is and shall be evermore.” And for our Call to Prayer after the sermon, Jake Asaro, tenor section leader and soloist will sing Micah 6:6-8 - our scripture set to music by John Ness Beck. “What does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” Come this Sunday to be inspired by solo and ensemble singing accompanied by brass. You’ll be glad you came!
