Looking at Education Dynamics, the company that owns them, it looks like they're funded by the universities themselves. Essentially universities pay them to direct people to them. That isn't inherently a scam. But it does leave more room for less than altruistic behavior, since they're not actually in the business of helping you, but rather the university.

Know someone who has 200 IQ and just because he was an smartass they kept artificially dropping his grades despite getting every question right. The important things to remember: • they are not trying to find the best college for you; they are trying to get paid. • the colleges they are trying to sell are shady for-profit schools, which are almost always very low quality. • they prey on low-income people who qualify for Pell grants or military members who can have their education paid for, and who are not well-informed about higher education. tl;dr: they’re not going to say “oh you’re interested in aviation? look at [respected public university with an aerospace engineering department].” they’re there going to rush you into an overpriced for-profit program and secure the bag.

You will be much better served by your high school’s guidance counseling department or other reputable services (generally, the kind that do not advertise on TV with a catchy jingle).

I keep seeing everyone say Education connection is a scam, I'm a sophomore more so why is it a scam?
It’s not really a service intended to find you a high-quality education. Instead, it works as an affiliate marketing system for sleazy for-profit colleges. I am not 100% sure of the exact business model, but it probably works something like this: for each student that EC refers to a particular college, the company pays it a commission (which may be substantial-hundreds or thousands of dollars). Since EC stands to make a lot of money from you, they will aggressively try to recruit you to attend one of their advertisers (and only their advertisers). There may also be other payments involved, but those are the basics.
The important things to remember:
• they are not trying to find the best college for you; they are trying to get paid.
• the colleges they are trying to sell are shady for-profit schools, which are almost always very low quality.
• they prey on low-income people who qualify for Pell grants or military members who can have their education paid for, and who are not well-informed about higher education.
tl;dr: they’re not going to say “oh you’re interested in aviation? look at [respected public university with an aerospace engineering department].” they’re there going to rush you into an overpriced for-profit program and secure the bag.
A sophomore attending classes at education connection? For profit schools are typically more interested in making money off of you than giving you a decent education. Most colleges n college programs are not-for-profit

@@TC-cs5wy EC is fundamentally a marketing service for low-quality for-profit schools. They are not there to say “you are interested in aerospace; you should look at [well-regarded public university],” they are there to pass you off to a for-profit school in exchange for a hefty commission. You will be much better served by your high school’s guidance counseling department or other reputable services (generally, the kind that do not advertise on TV with a catchy jingle).
