I'm wearing a pair of Sony MDR V6's which are some of the most well respected headphones for audio engineering for the past 30 years. I honestly didn't notice a single difference from the first to the second. If anything the second one just sounded like it had a very subtle amount of distortion on it compared to the first one but I'm thinking it was much more noticeable until you uploaded this video to RUclips. RUclips compresses audio and if you compare the original audio file of whatever you made with the sound of the same instrumental/audio you upload to RUclips you'll definitely notice HUGE differences.
If you have a sub i promise this conversation will be alot more plain and simple! The fact that youre noticing just a slight difference speaks volumes to how cool this trick can be. If you listen with a sub youll super notice a huge boost in that bottom information while retaining the same volume! So for you to listen in headphones and this 808 still have retained its highs and attack etc with now a big bottom speaks straight to the techniques capabilities! Please please please bring out a sub and then decide!
@Mista 808 I thought it was just me. I listened on both my Focal Trio6 Be's and again with my KRK 12S active and didn't hear much noticeable difference. I had to rewind a few times to make sure I wasn't tripping. Maybe a little bit more sustain on the second one, but over all extremely similar.
@@bikesandbeats4693 definitely not something worth calling a trick. Unless of course he meant he was tricking all of us into believing there was a difference. If so jokes on us 🤣
I love using sub harmonics for kicks as well. I use them at t mobile arena on everything but mainly on the Knightline because their bass drums are 14's and 16's and to get them to sound like kicks and not toms I throw on a sub harmonics. Great tutorial here!
I'm using cheap krk headphones that I have been mixing on for about 4 years now. I could hear a slight difference, I went to the car and really heard the low end. A nice tip I will be purchasing LoAir been looking for a plugin similar to the UAD Little Labs Voice of God plugin. Thanks
Any recommendations for small speakers to reference when working with 808s and low end? Like the genelec 8010a or the iLouds? Been looking for an affordable small speaker to compliment my bigger studio monitors, like a speaker that would sound speakers with small or no sub... I've been trying to work on getting my mixes sounding good on smaller speakers with things like distortion.
OMG......HE SAID "DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THE MULTI-BAND COMPRESSOR"........LORD KNOWS WE ARE SCARED OF THAT THING.......MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD AT 1AM IN THE DAMN MORNING HAHA
How do you get pro tools to show the dB value meter number scale on the mixer ? I can only see the input metering but I can’t tell if I’m at -10db or -15db without using paz meters
I can definitely hear the difference in my 808s. The only part I disagree with is turning down the low end with a EQ cause it takes away a lot of the thunder that we even use them for. I use this shit every day now tho. ✊🏿
Thank you man been learning a lot from you. Can you by any chance do a video on how record and place the vocals in their own repective tracks before you start mixing? Like consolidating the vocals and adding the cross fades. Thank you!
I can help sandro! An EQ boost is taking the frequency information that's there and raising it in volume and adding analog coloration. A subharmonic generator (loAir) is generating new frequencies into the instrument that weren't there before. In context, the subharmonic generator is "filling in" the low end with newly introduced bass, instead of using an eq to raise the volume of what's already there.
Cool! Really cool. But if you get subs louder you'll end up hitting the last Stereo Master limiter harder, right? As far as I know, this will force you to keep the LUFS lower. So, I'm curious about how you deal with it to make the final stage as loud as we expect Hmmm... 'Cause 2dB more on subs means a lot of extra energy on final mix.
Yoooo devvon, please do something like modern "rock" related. Per example: JXDN, MGK, MOD SUN, the new KID LAROI stuff. There are none on youtube, and they have a massive audience.
Look at some basic rock mixing tutorials and also look into “Nail the Mix”. They’ve done some pop punk bands on there. With pop punk, it’s going to be similar to a high quality rock production. There’s a lot of good stuff on RUclips for rock mixes. Hope you find some good stuff.
@@jackemerson6101 don't get me wrong I like his content. But there are a bunch of RUclips channels that have the "secret formula" for the same information that's been floating around for years
I think it's officially time to retire these KRK Rokit 5's. I can't hear the difference and it's pissing me off! I am about to go to guitar center this weekend and upgrade. I am sick of this shit! LOL

Would bass rider work here too instead of the MB?

In addition to teaching solid techniques, you're great at helping me train my ears in fine detail. Thanks homie!

Gotta remember to reference different speaker types and sizes when mixing low end!
cool technique, would have add some parallel distortion on the top end too so it ends up cutting through the mix
@@TLllllll would have been a lil more advanced trick to learn concerning the video title but yea depends on the song/mix
best tutorial I have watched about 808 mixing 🎉
Yoooo been waiting on this 🔥🔥
Glad to hear that!! It’s here ready for ya!

Dope bro
The problem is we not always using the 808 in the same key, that would add another frequencies to work on? thank u for the tip
Thanks for sharing this. Your videos have already taught me a lot. Which 808 are you using in the video?
The man is back💯🔥
In full effect
I have the maxxbass plugin, can I use that too?
Great video I really needed this
I’ve learned a lot from watch your channel
Thank you for the great lesson!
Currently working on a Piano/808 type beat. This is just what I needed. Does anyone know any FREE substitutes for the Low Air Saturation Plug-in?
Thank you man 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
You Got MyAttention Bro!
So if I make a beat using the 808 flex how do I glue the drums together if there already on one bus
I’m in the mustang and I can hear the difference 💯💯
Let me clarify... I can still hear a huge difference over these loud ass pipes🔥🔥🔥
Oh if you’re in the car you’ll def understand what I’m talking about!!!
Hey man great video .

what if you have a 2track beat? can I still apply this?
Yeah my desk started shaking after the bypass at the end
If you don’t have this plugin you can replicate this with stock eq and distortion or saturation plugins
dope tutorial tnx Devvon,if i may ask what are the best headphones for mixing ?
🔥🔥 thanks bro amazing!!
i think that fast realis can causes unwanted distortion on sub and low frequencies
tbh yeah i found that even tho i am doing fast attack using my compressor , it sometimes (maybe my processor is dieing?) ads artifacts to your mix .

it aint an eq, its a mb to keep control, gives u a tighter sound actually and sharper transients

Bhai, dm me on insta @feidheee I can help u out
yooyoo, one question... why using loAir instead of an analog EQ? seems pretty similar to me isnt it?
I can help sandro! An EQ boost is taking the frequency information that's there and raising it in volume and adding analog coloration. A subharmonic generator (loAir) is generating new frequencies into the instrument that weren't there before. This or Rbass?
It would be cool if you layer loair 808 (with 100 to 500 lowcut) with original. Like u adding mid and air. For me - too much low freq.

Nah nah just grab a sub don’t get rid of em u just need a speaker that can reproduce those frequencies just get a separate sub
Don't retire them just go get a sub so you can hear the bass. Rokit 5 aren't made for bass. They are more for midrange sounds.
