I found your vlog through the WAVO competition. I've learnt so many useful tips already! I've been producing for a few months and learnt a lot on youtube already; but it's great to have just one person explain everything, and you do it so well. THANK YOU! I finally found something to binge-watch until the new season of GOT comes on :)
"explain the compression is impossible for me" - it should be explainable? your essentially attenuating the dynamic peaks for/(or glueing together) the different frequency bands (ie low/mid/treble) + increasing back gain/(DBs) from the gain reduction for more percieved loudness. (for anyone who was unsure of what he was doing there with the multi-band dynamics)
Ozone 7 is really nice but I'm starting to use my Fabfilter/brainworx/waves plugins more and more for mastering. Ozone is really nice to get good results really fast.
Hi there Jon! I just subscribed to your channel, i find it very informative, and I can manage to use a new feature after every video of yours. Keep up the good work, I think this channel will start off pretty soon! Cheers!
Thank you for this excellent video. Super helpful and informative. Did you start with a preset or recommend one? Or would you suggest, start generic and just apply the kind of changes you explained. Thank you for any reply.
Hey, Jon, I thought this was a really excellent video, but I'm just wondering why you're using Span? Did you know that Ozone Advanced comes with the Insight metering plugin for that sort of thing?
hi Jon, i have some question bother me ,hope you can help it. 1. is there a big different in sound quality between mastering track yourself and using pro mastering engineer services? 2. if i use the common plugin and do "in the box" mastering like you did ,,can i achieve the same level of audio quality by professional mastering engineer even without having those fancy setup, hardware, analog gear they have. thx Jon
How do you create vocal melodies? Hum them in your own voice, guitar, or keyboard, maybe in a specific synth preset that is close to a human voice in timbre/frequency?
I have Ozone 6 .. I recorded vocals to a few beats that i 2 tracked ... when i completed the recoding i mixed & masterd the songs but when i played them in my car stereo some songs had to much highs and othets has to much bass .. how can i make all songs sound same as far as bass and highs go ? its not a good look when you have to adjust the levels from song to song in your stereo system !!! need help PLEASE LOL !!
I think you are doing very good and making good videos! I'd say that if people are watching these, they either want to learn more or they are just trolling to find something to bitch about. :) Great work, please keep it up! I hope to one day be able to make music for a living :) -Michael "MadTracker" Johnson
I wrote lyrics hella years ago and one of my best songs was called "Beginning Of The End." Lol. The lyrics wern't anything soul shattering but great minds think alike. \m/
I come from Belgium and speak french but a little english ... and I love your video's bro ;o) I have a screen 4K and I see you have a big screen too ... so I have setup 150% in windows for the windows. With this setup I have a little problem in ozone 7 with my mouse. Example, when I choose 74 with my mouse and I click ... then it's 75 ... when I use ozone 7 in FL Studio, the screen is not 150% ... it's small .... but no problem with my mouse ...... you have this little problem ?
i have ozone 7 and with my screen 4K and WIndows 10 with windows at 150%, there is a problem with the mouse in the program .... and with FL Studio, i have a better mastering with Fab Filter (i just use the ozone exciter) .......
Oh haha I see sorry for such a stupid question ...great videos btw keep up the good work. Can you please tell me how much headroom should I leave for the mastering prices of my track? Been looking for a while for that answer thanks in advance
If your goal is to educate us, then it dosent help for anyone to just see the settings you have used. We need to hear and see the difference to learn anything. If it is because you can't let us hear the track, then use another track that we can hear.
Compressor - You can't explain what you did? Wuuuut EQ - You (almost) basically boosted all the frequencies between 30hz and 19000hz for 0,7db or so... Exciter - It's kinda hard to explain what an exciter does? Wuuuuut Limiter - You leave the ceiling at 0db? Wut???
Miguel Oliveira you can leave the ceiling at 0, it's when playing back at CD that it would clip but the limiter in Ozone works well with catching anything past 0
Mentz When the track is converted to mp3 it crushes it all. SoundCloud for example converts it! I believe you can leave on 0db for Spotify (I don't know what Spotify uses) but the best is to make different limitings for each one you'll upload
u filmed this last year :V lol i just started to use izotope thanks for sharing, i sended u my track for your new video format soundcloud.com/rey-jupiter/get-rid-of-that-dj-waterfox

Plain and simple, you really know how to break it down. Just with your settings, I was able to mix my son like a pro.

hey jon. please use some screen and audio capture software so that you can play and show us what you are doing. that will help a lot. thanks
Serion Yes, that's a good Idea!
Thanks man cheers
Try OBS! It's completely free :)
DNTRX Yes, that's what I use, too.
I agree that would be better but the uniqueness of this vlog will be lost if he does that.
Thank you for sharing this Jon, it helps a lot!
Evening Jon. Nice video thanks. One question though. Why do you master the rendered track instead of within your DAW project?
Ian Russo He said in the beginning that he would try to change everything up again in his DAW.
Best channel fam, Keep it up!
congrats on 200!
You make really great videos bro!
thanks for that nice Tutorial i learned here more than in the other tutorials thx!
How do you export? Any dithering involved? Thanks! :)
Did you get your duet fixed or is this an older video?
